Simplicity is sometimes a good thing. Having recently been to Japan for the second time I can say that when you factor in price, quality, and presentation this place fairs reasonably high on my rating. Love the katsu and the peanut sauce, and appreciate that they offer a non pork type dumpling.

It's been well over 2 years since I visited this location in Arvada. Based on photos I took then, no change of decor or increased prices. I wanted to try lower sodium dishes. The only ones I could find was a salmon bowl with brown rice and steamed vegetables. I skipped the Teriyaki glaze. Also, the Mandori Mango salad with Citrus Honey Vinaigrette on the side. Instead of soy sauce, I brought sesame sauce instead which was very spicy with chilis. They have no sushi bar, but still offer sushi rolls. No nigiri or sashimi. Lo and behold I was served as before by Kevin H. He was great. Instead of alcohol, I got strong iced tea. After this successful lunch, I added 2 scoops of green tea ice cream as a reward.

I've been coming to Kokoro for years and it never disappoints! If you're looking for quick service food that's healthy and happy on your body, this is the spot! Kokoro is not fancy by any means, but it feels like a family restaurant. Very welcoming with a simple menu. I tried the ginger tofu & it tasted too sweet? This was not for me... I like the tang, almost spice, of ginger. However, their tempura shrimp is always a must & I love their teriyaki bowls. I felt energized leaving & I am always happy to come here when in Arvada.

The spider rolls with my own soy sauce for dipping. Don't be afraid to order and eat the crab's legs: very flavorful, crunchy, and so good!

What I really like about this place is the simplicity without taking away the quality of the food, and the ambiance where you can meet up with friends for conversations while eating a simple meal. Walking in, we were not greeted by anyone but our friends who were there already, motioning us to the table. Seated, we looked over the menu, which were filled with plenty of food choices front and back. The friends we were meeting here always get pretty much the same food: Kokoro bowl (beef and chicken), chicken bowl, and California rolls. Since we have never dined here, I chose the spider rolls and a beef bowl (super), and my husband chose the Kokoro bowl, and for $1 more, he substituted the white meat option instead of the offered dark meat. The spider rolls I ordered came with 4 pieces of soft shell crab, fried in a batter, and were wrapped in seaweed and rice. Cooked to perfection, these rolls were so good! They tasted so fresh too. This is one food item I would like to eat again and again whenever I visit this restaurant in the future. My beef bowl was very simple: rice underneath marinated beef with onions. It could use more juice from the beef, so I added some soy sauce, pickled ginger, and chili pepper powder. The added flavor to this dish enhanced my eating experience, because it was just enough heat for me to enjoyed the dish. Everyone enjoyed their meal, and the staff made the eating experience here an enjoyable evening. If you want casual Japanese food without a big price tag, give Kokoro a try. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by their food, prices, and service. Their two locations, conveniently located in Denver (on Colorado Blvd) and Arvada (on Wadsworth), are easy to find. Happy eating!

Love the value at this restaurant! Very reasonable prices and they always have great deals via their rewards program! A good variety of seating with booths and counters, promt service and food comes out quickly. They also have a drive through.

I love Kokoro- fast, friendly and delicious! The kiddo went to a movie and I was killing time. I crave the tremors splash for crispy shrimp and veggie nests to break up into the delicious broth and tender udon. Comfort food at its best!!

The food is always fresh and tastes delicious! The drive thru and fast! This is my go to spot for sushi! The green tea cheesecake is my favorite dessert on the menu! Definitely recommend checking this little family owned restaurant out!

Great service. Fast and perfect for kids. It might not win an award but it was perfect for a quick bite.

Couldn't understand anything the person was saying at the drive thru. Then I waited at the window for 10 minutes for my order. Never got it and drove off. Horrid customer service for over priced food

Kokoro in Arvada isn't going to win any awards for being "the most extravagant restaurant in town," but if you're looking for a place where the service is stellar and the food is legitimately great, it's a winner. The ambience? Well, it's fine. Nothing to write home about, but it's not like you're eating in a cave either. The outdoor seating is nice enough--definitely not the kind of place where you'll be fighting for a seat under a heat lamp, but it's... fine. However, the real stars here are the service and food. The staff is on top of it, friendly, and efficient, making sure you're happy without hovering. And the food? Delicious. It's like someone in the kitchen actually cares. So, while it might not be a "wow" for the decor, Kokoro definitely makes up for it with a solid meal and top-tier service. Would I go back? Absolutely. Would I tell my friends? Only if they promise not to ask for my seat on the patio! . Just a little sidenote for this location they do have a drive-through, which is very convenient as well.!

    Yum!

Always a joy to eat here. Su is a joyful woman who performs outstanding service to all that walk thru the door. All the employees seem to be spot on.The spicy tuna rolls are killer! Their have been off days but this place is one of my go to when I need a smile and easy eating. Keep up the good work Kokoro!

We tried a bunch of different Nigiri's, including the scallop, eel, seared salmon, bluefin toro. and more. They were all so fresh and delicious. I ordered the Shishito peppers as well, so good! Didn't need a little more sauce as they only drizzle it on the top peppers and once you get past that you need more. We also tried two rolls, the crazy tuna, and the Godzilla. Both delicious!! The staff tag teams to get things done, which is helpful in such a busy environment as you feel comfortable, asking any passing server for a refill, sauce, etc. Can't wait to come back.

The karaage was yum and so was the age tofu. Not to be mixed up with agedashi tofu - as there is no soup, just fried tofu. I wish the tofu was fried more crispy - would be awesome if it was double fried - some outside parts of the tofu were soft and not crispy. The crab salad, seaweed salad and the cucumbers salad were all very refreshing. There was some service mix up where we had to asked for our food order - I don't think it was the waiters, but maybe the communication from the ordering system to the kitchen, and also the beers we ordered didn't come until we had asked for it towards the end of our meal. All in all the food and most of the experience were decent - we shall be back again!

Honey, before I begin this culinary TED Talk, let me explain why this glamazon even sashayed…read morethrough the door. I kept hearing whispers. Rave reviews. Local legends. So naturally I showed up to investigate with my appetite, my unrealistic and dramatic standards, and the emotional support personality of someone who writes sonnets about raw fish. I'm not here for dinner. I'm here for an experience. Possibly emotional closure. I adore sushi. Which means my expectations, even in a landlocked state, are higher than my credit card balance. The restaurant itself? Oh, she's that mysterious queen tucked into a strip mall like she's avoiding her ex. Tiny. Moody. Dimly lit. The kind of place you almost don't want to review because selfishly, you NEED your favorite table available. Reservations, darling. Don't test fate. This hidden gem has officially been outed. When the sushi arrives, it arrives it not on some precious little plate. On a giant wooden cutting board fit for a king, or queen (wink). Sharing is caring. Unless you touch my last piece. Then all bets are off sweetie. The service? Fabulous. My waiter, (only went by S on the receipt...odd) mastered the ancient art of appearing exactly when needed and vanishing before becoming part of the conversation. Attentive without hovering. Give that man an Emmy. I ordered the Red Dragon Roll:Salmon, yellowtail, and avocado tucked inside...then crowned with tuna, jalapeño, and sriracha. Now let's discuss Miss Thing. The slices were thick. THICK. Like that gorgeous hottie you deny eyeing. Decadent. Chewy. Gorgeous. My only complaint? Girl, my mouth did not sign the consent form. I tried to be elegant. One dainty bite. Then the entire roll exploded like it had unresolved family issues. Halfway through I abandoned etiquette and accepted that looking cute was no longer on today's agenda. The salmon? Baby, If salmon tastes like it has unresolved trauma from three Tuesdays ago, I'm calling the authorities. THIS salmon? Fresh enough to still have opinions. It practically looked at me and said,Girrrrrrll, did you see what that tuna was wearing? That's exactly the level of freshness I want. Now, the rice. Rice is the structural engineering of the sushi. It should faithfully escort my sushi all the way to my mouth before gracefully retiring from public service. Mine only fell apart because those glorious salmon slabs required a jaw unhinge worthy of a python. So today, the rice has been pardoned. Knife work? Every slice looked intentional. Like someone whispered apologies to the blade before making each cut. Were a few pieces larger than others? Maybe. But honestly, the only thing smaller than my patience is my mouth. (Side eye) How do I feel about Wasabi? Please don't flirt with me. Attack me. I want enough wasabi to make me briefly question every life decision that led me into this restaurant. I want polite volcano energy. Like finding a lit firecracker in your sock drawer while someone calmly says, Enjoy! Presentation? Listen...Everyone online wants tiny edible flowers with tragic backstories and microgreens raised by monks. This restaurant said, no. Here's your beautiful sushi. On a massive communal cutting board. Figure it out. Honestly? Kind of iconic. The sauces also deserve applause. Nothing was drowning beneath an avalanche of spicy mayo and eel sauce. Because once every roll tastes like sauce... Congratulations. You've invented sushi-flavored ranch. Creativity is wonderful. Restraint is sexier. How was the cleanliness? EXCUSE ME. This place was immaculate. I'm convinced tiny sushi ninjas silently materialize every few minutes to eliminate fingerprints before they even happen. Not one sticky soy sauce bottle. Not one questionable table. Not one crumb living rent free. Ten out of ten. No notes. And the sushi chefs Calm.Focused. Mysterious. Absolutely looked like they've silently judged forty thousand chopstick techniques and still wake up disappointed in humanity. Next visit I'm ordering the nigiri. If the chef hands it to me with one solemn nod like they're entrusting me with ancient forbidden knowledge, I'm legally obligated to cry. Finally... The bill. Expensive sushi? Perfectly acceptable. This place actually felt refreshingly reasonable. Because my personal rule remains undefeated: If six pieces of salmon cost the same as my monthly car payment... That salmon better know my name, my zodiac sign, and ask how my mother is doing. Final Verdict: Hidden gem? Absolutely. Fantastic fish.Great service. Immaculate restaurant. Generous portions.Zero gimmicks. Just excellent sushi quietly minding its own business. Five fish flips out of five. Now excuse me while I make another reservation before the rest of y'all ruin my favorite table.
