I'm not dining out as much these days. Occasionally we're craving meals that are anything but my home cooking. And lord knows I'm not making sushi in my kitchen! Delivery sushi might have a weird reputation. I mean, you think of beautifully presented fresh fish on fancy plates. Well sometimes that's just unrealistic. Mika Sushi has great Yelp reviews and they're not far from our house. We ordered them on DoorDash and we were stuffed after dinner! When I say stuffed...these were some of the LARGEST sushi rolls I've ever had. Normally I can house two specialty rolls, and these were LOADED to the brim. My mouth was barely wide enough to down these GIANT rolls in one bite (keep it PG). Mexican Roll ($16.95) // spicy yellowtail, cucumber, salmon and jalapeño. A little heavy handed on the sauce. Spicy, savory, tasty. Godzilla Roll ($17.95) // spicy tuna, spicy yellowtail, avocado, tuna, seared salmon, special sauce. Loaded with flavor, well balanced, filling. Rock Shrimp ($10.95) // fried shrimp with creamy sauce. Their take on bang bang shrimp. These were good, but would've been even better fresh out the fryer at the restaurant. Simple, easy, can't go wrong. I have to reiterate that these were maybe the BIGGEST sushi rolls ever. I don't know if it translates in the photos. Normally a sushi roll is sliced into 8 pieces; these could've been 10 or 12 pieces! I am full just thinking about this meal! Will have to check out the actual restaurant one of these days. Located in a very non descript strip center, Mika is serving up some of the best sushi bites I have ever had. (FYI.... my last meal on earth will be sushi.... so I have a take out menu with me!). Mika is a friendly little sushi place with a modest menu with very very reasonable prices. My bff and I headed there (at my request) for our last meal of 2024....... let's celebrate I told her. So we sat back in our seats, ordered up some sake and wine and got to it. First up, their 8 piece sushi plate with a California Roll, soup and salad for $20.99. That's right 8 pieces, a roll, soup and salad.... a killer deal.. The pieces were very nice size and extraordinarily fresh. I don't really love a CA roll (but my bff does).... and Mika's was really nice. But the biggest surprise was the miso soup..... I think there was fairy dust in it. It was sooo perfect.... I don't usually order soup (fills me up and I can't more fish). Okay, next (that 8 piece is gonna be hard to beat). We ordered the Arvada roll. We are in Arvada, just seemed appropriate (and extremely kitschy!). The waitress delivered a 10 piece roll on a platter (not a plate). Inside spider, mango, spicy tuna and avocado wrapped with soy paper. I love soy paper! This roll was lovely, plentiful amount of fish with the perfect sweet spicy combination.... wow! Gonna be near impossible to beat this one... but nooo..... Next up, the Godzilla roll with spicy tuna, spicy yellowtail, avocado inside, topped with tuna, salmon seared with special sauce. The flavor was amazing, a light smokey seared salmon kinda stole the show.... but this roll came together in perfect harmony of flavors. Oh dear I am stuffed, but I WANT MORE. This is my go-to local sushi spot. I probably eat at Mika 1-2x a week. Moved here from SoCal and am so glad to have a reasonably priced sushi option with fresh fish and great roll options around the corner. I meet a friend there for week day lunches (quick service with really cool presentation) and love grabbing it to go for low key "in" nights too. Personal favorite rolls are Mika Naruto (no rice low carb), red devil, Alaska and Snow White. Fish is fresh enough for sashimi as well (I'm a salmon and albacore gal). read more

The miso soup was tepid, slightly sweet (why?) and had the tiniest tofu bits in it. My guess is that they use chicken broth for the stock instead of dashi. The ceviche was not ceviche. The wasabi paste was just some green paste. No kick at all. The sushi was so-so. The rolls were also so-so. Wholefoods sushi tastes better. The soy sauce was weird. I suspect it's watered down. However, the strangest thing was the one waitress (the more experienced one was ok and quite professional) who hovered over us while we looked at the menu. Then she left and came back to point at certain items on the order sheet saying, "Order this. So good!" when we didn't ask for her recommendation. Later, when she arrived with our sushi order, she whipped out her phone and wanted to take photos of our food. What the what? We said no thanks! And then she said, "Photo for me!" We just said no again. If she wanted photos of the sushi, why didn't she take them before bringing it out to us? So weird. We just wanted a meal. We didn't expect that we had to deal with a waitress who was not just unprofessional but had no boundaries. Not coming back. I don't recommend the food either, especially if you love sushi. So a few months ago our favorite sushi place sadly went out of business. We have been on the hunt for a good sushi place ever since. We found it! Mika Sushi is a fantastic place for sushi. We were met at the door by a very nice employee that showed us to a great table. She quickly realized that we had never been there before and she took the time to explain their menu, their drink menu, and answer our questions. We really enjoyed their service level throughout the entire dinner. We ordered 8 rolls, two of which were their deluxe rolls. I recommend the Godzilla roll, and the Hot Rod roll. Both were awesome. Mika Sushi is located in a strip mall, but not to worry. The place is very nice and clean inside and it actually almost felt like our old sushi place. I recommend Mika Sushi and I am happy to say that we have finally found our new go to sushi place. Loved it!!! read more

The restaurant is part of a strip mall and doesn't look anything special from the outside but once you step inside, it's got pretty nice decor with a small bar to serve drinks. We went there for lunch and it was empty but they were getting a lot of to go orders. We got the Spicy yellowtail/salmon roll, valentine roll, Godzilla roll. All were very good. We have four kids so we rarely get a date night. We chose this sushi restaurant because they were open till 10pm. We walked in at 8:45p and were met with annoyed faces. We spent $100 on sushi. The staff continuously tried to rush our meal. We were less than halfway done when they brought the check (9:15 or so). We continued eating and ignored the check. We had 5-6 pieces left (9:35p) when they came over and demanded we pay the bill. I politely reminddd them that their posted closing time was 10pm but handed her my credit card. She somewhat ignored my comment and then asked if she could bring us a to-go box. I was literally still eating. I told her that I was going to finish my roll. At this point I couldn't help myself but to tell her that I didn't appreciate her rushing us out when they weeent closed yet. She responded "yeah we close soon." I said "it's 9:45 and you close at 10pm, stop rushing us out please". Begrudgingly, I still left 10% but wish I hadn't bc the second we walked out, they locked the door, turned off the lights and slammed the blinds shut. Loved Mika!! We were sat right away on a saturday night and had such quick and kind service. There were 5 of us and we apparently ordered enough sushi to be given this giant boat and ice sculpture (though it seems everyone gets some version of this, haha). It was so cool! My sister and I decided to try this place today after seeing a few good reviews on here for it. Never again. This sushi was so incredibly bland, it just tasted like rice- not even sushi rice, like plain white rice. I've had good and bad sushi, but this didn't even taste like any fish at all. Beyond that, service is awful. The two girls who were serving us rushed us through our whole meal, asking us if we were ready to put in drink orders before we even sat down. Once we did order, we took maybe 3 bites each before being asked if we wanted a box. Our whole lunch from the moment we walked in to the moment we left was only 30 minutes. Let me add that there was no one even in the restaurant, so they weren't busy. They gave us the box and check and stood around either on their phones or watching us to wait for us to pay. If you're looking for good food and good service, pleaseeee do yourself a favor and go to Umai Ya down the street- way better service and all of their food is actually good. read more

I have to be honest--I'm writing this review a bit late so I can't tell you exactly what rolls I ordered, but I can tell you that this place is worth visiting regardless. I've been here twice--both times after a summer car meet that's typically hosted in a lot nearby. I tend to forget about this little gem, which is why I'm writing a review now--I won't forget again!! The sushi is delectable and the presentation is stunning. The first time I visited here there was dry ice on my plate which would have been enough reason for me to give this spot at least a few stars, but when I popped a roll in my mouth it was obvious the food was as good as the presentation. I called into the Arvada location directly last night at 6:30pm to save the extra fees of ordering online. I was told my order would be ready at 7:30pm, which is fine I understand as it was a holiday. When I showed up, it took 14 minutes for someone to help me with my pick up order. The person "helping" me took no accountability and said I must have called into the wrong location. I told her that I called into using the phone number on this Yelp account and confirmed later today that this indeed is the correct number. You guys totally dropped the ball on this and showed no courtesy of sympathy, get your act together. read more

it was our first time eating from here, ordered delivery. 3 stars instead of 2 since eating in might be way better. Packaging was incredible off top. Spicy tuna roll was super fresh, also got a fried salmon/something roll and it was pretty good. Veggie fried rice was simple but very tasty. Cheese wontons were some of the best I've had in a while! Everything else sucked, though :/ The miso soup was cold, flavorless. Salad was tiny and drowning in a watery dressing. Gyoza filling tasted strange. Fried egg rolls were mostly burnt, also not much flavor from ones not as burnt. The tempura veggies also had some burnt areas yet the inside had a lot of raw dough near the middle. My bf was so sad lol! He is mostly vegetarian and thought both his avocado rolls tasted fishy, like the same knife was used to cut my sushi was used on them or something. We received 2 boxes of white rice and I wasn't sure what that would be used for since none of our dishes needed it. We threw away like 60%-70% of our food. It is so close to our house. Mika Sushi is our "go to" place for Sushi. Their food is of excellent quality, predictable and highly reliable. We never have had to worry about what chef might be working, etc. this really goes to their standards, training and purchased food quality. However, we just bought four orders of Sushi hand rolls tonight and am worried about my favorite place. The rice wasn't sticking to the rolls, so you would grab at a roll and the rice would just shed off. They are also using a different soy sauce that seems watered down. It is no longer staining the rice on a dip and doesn't have that "soy punch" that we've gotten used to (we actually used our own soy sauce for this meal.) Highly disappointed experience. I am hoping it's a one time blip on our journey with Mika. We will wait a bit and try again - but if we get a similar experience, then we will need to find a new "number 1" sushi place. read more

Thankful to finally find a sushi place in Arvada! The reviews and pictures do not lie - the presentation is amazing!! Their menu has plenty of pictures if you are a visual person, like me. Mark what you want on the paper and they'll serve it perfectly for you. For us, it was on a boat with dry ice! The prices for the rolls are good for the amount of fish in the roll. Our eel and avocado roll was about 90% avocado which was a little upsetting. The nigiri is $1 for 1 piece which is an amazing deal! Definitely going to come back just for that! The fish didn't taste as fresh as I'd like, that's why I gave this place only 4 stars. Still good, no doubt!!! We came in to Mika for the first time tonight and absolutely loved it. We just moved into the neighborhood and are so pumped there's a great local sushi bar! The spicy edamame was great as a starter, with the jalapeño yellowtail. Our favorite rolls were the Mexican, black dragon roll, rock n roll and mountain. The service was also wonderful! Realized I've been coming here forever, but I haven't reviewed this amazing place yet... Shame on me!! Mika's sushi is top-notch: You have your classics like the Rainbow Roll, as well as the bold rolls like the Godzilla Roll (which was YUMMY and made my belly ROAR in delight). My hands-down favorite roll, though, is the East Roll--I get it almost every visit. The flavors of all their sushi are nicely balanced, and they don't bog the rolls down with excessive rice. I'm not sure where they get their fish, but it tastes fresh for being in a land-locked state. Presentation is very important to Mika, and they nail it EVERY time. I love how each plate is treated like a work of art! Not only is their sushi tasty, but their entrees are nomilicious too. The Mika Fried Rice is especially flavorful. I've tried their tempura and katsu meals, which were *chef's kiss*. My Mom likes their bento lunches, and she's fond of the teriyaki shrimp/chicken and the crispy tempura. This is also the first place my Mom tried sushi. She's never been a fan of it, but she actually enjoyed their Cali Roll. :9 The staff are delightful too! Very kind and quick to help. They let you take your time to order, and they are diligent with making sure you feel attended to but not overwhelmed. You can tell the chefs work hard and care about what they're creating by how well-made and delectable their dishes are. During the pandemic, I've gotten takeout multiple times. Mika always manages to get the order right. Even after the 15-minute drive home, the sushi tasted DELICIOUS. Definitely call them directly to place your order, so they don't have to take a hit from online services!! They're doing a great job with dining inside too--upholding the usual safety measures. This is not a Japanese sushi place but offers so called American sushi. The sushi restaurant that we were supposed to go and I was so looking forward to it turned out to be closed permanently, so we came here. I have successfully avoided the American sushi in the last few decade as I can tell the authenticity by just looking at the menu and a few photos. To me, the American sushi is what the Japanese sushi is not supposed to be. Japanese sushi is simple and has clean taste. You taste each ingredients without being bothered by sauce, There is a very few sushi that utilizes sauce (well except for soy sauce). Sushi here include at least a few ingredients and a couple of sauce. With overwhelming sauces, how can you taste the ingredients? Can you taste salmon and tuna in the same roll? You can basically roll sumeshi with nori and pour unagi tare or teriyaki sauce, and charge you $10 without any ingredients. I really could not eat most of what we ordered. It is my first experience to eat American sushi and my first time I could not recognize most of things on the menu! It saddens me that my national food is misunderstood like this. BUT like the Japanese have localized many foods from overseas, I really should not complain as so many people were enjoying the American sushi. Service is good. Rude! RUDE!! RUDE!!!!! The most rude and inconsiderate "manager" I have ever dealt with in my life. I am an executive in the restaurant industry and the guy who took my order, who claimed to be the manager, was by far, the most rude and inconsiderate person with whom I have ever spoke to on the phone, and believe me, that's saying something. I had to cancel over a $100 due to the severity of the rude behavior. We used to love this place. My kids love this place, but you should NOT help rude restaurants when so many in my industry are busting their butts to please customers being short staffed. I was polite for 10 minutes straight but after 10 minutes of listening to someone so rude and inconsiderate, I had to cancel. Being a landlocked state, you should know that sushi is what you make of it! This establishment had decent sashimi, and what's not disappointed with the quality of the product!
