Absolutely loved this hidden gem in Doraville! The lamb skewers were juicy and flavorful, and the Guo Bao Rou (crispy sweet & sour pork) was hands-down the best I've had in years. Also loved the cold noodles with pickled veggies--super refreshing! Great drink options like fruity soju and honey pomelo tea. Perfect spot for groups too--they have big tables and even private rooms. Will definitely be back!

It's been the hidden spot. The sweet and sour pork was so good. The new salad dish was killing it.t

I was scoping out Yelp for something different to eat for dinner and Kochi Maru popped up in my suggestions. It has mixed reviews but sometimes you find diamonds in the rough. Service is hands-off as many reviewers noted, but we kinda enjoyed being able to have a conversation without interruption. We didn't mind getting our own drink refills from the deli fridge that was nearby and when we were ready to go, it was not hard to get our server's attention for to-go containers. Now to describe the food ... Delicious! We went overboard in our ordering, which made our tab pretty expensive only because we couldn't decide what we wanted to try on our first visit. Notice I said first visit - hubby declared as we were leaving, "we will come back!". LOL . Here's run down of the items we ordered: Spicy Rice Noodle soup - top dish of the night! So flavorful! We wish it had more veggies, it was noodle heavy. More bok choy, more bean sprouts, and more bean curd (there was only 2pcs) please. Salted Vegetables (cold dish) - tied for top dish of the night!! The picture on the menu had more variety of veggies than what we received, but the flavor was outstanding so it was ok. Spicy, slightly salty (not in a bad way), savory, fresh - amazing! Skewers... Lamb - these were hubby's favorite Beef - better than other places but needed the extra spice they give you at the table. Pork Belly - alright, also needed the extra spice. I found that eating the pork belly with the beef enhanced the bite. Chicken - surprisingly very good. Moist and flavorful. Bacon Mushroom - another winner. Bacon could have been cooked a bit more for additional texture contrast (I like crispy bacon best) "Exotic" menu choice was BBQ Pork Feet - we try our best to try something new that we have never eaten before anytime we can and this fit the bill. Wasn't bad, but probably would not order again. If you like the fatty part of pork belly or a steak, you would like these. All in all - give Kochi Maru a try. Enjoy the delicious relaxing laid back meal and definitely try the soup and cold salad!

The food was tasty but the portion was too small for a large group. Service was great as there was not that many people inside the store. Good place to hangout for couples or small groups of friends.

Authentic and delicious Chinese food. The skewers are great, juicy and tender and easy to remove from stick. I recommend trying out the pork belly skewer and sweet and sour pork!

I didn't think I'd like it but it was good, I loved the spice/seasoning they provided to dip the meat in. Do be warned that it takes a bit for the meat to cook and you can only put very few skewers at once. Also, the skewers are small so it can be very easy to spend more than intended though you do get a good amount per order. Place is small and not very accomodating for very large groups but still definitely worth a visit.

Overall a pretty decent place to grab a meal, but I wouldn't say I was wow-ed or anything. To start, the service was very slow, which was confusing because the restaurant was not busy at all at the time. We had a hard time getting the workers attentions even when they were in view and it kind of seemed like they were trying to avoid checking up on us. Eventually, we were able to put in our order and we got: Lamb skewers - these were delicious and pretty tender! They were seasoned well and I like that we had a plate of this spice rub that we could add on if we wanted. Definitely a solid choice. Pork belly skewers - these were definitely more fatty so depending on your preference, you might like these more. But I preferred the lamb. But still, so yummy! Rice cakes - I loved these. The texture was magnificent. So crispy on the outside but still so soft and chewy on the inside. I do wish they had drizzled some honey on it, because I think that would have taken it to the next level, but still good! Bread with condensed milk - I think I was most disappointed with these. It was still good but I wish we had more condensed milk. Because the breads are pretty thick, and there was only a thin drizzle of condensed milk, there was a lot of plain dry bread we had to get through. And we asked for some more condensed milk but it was like they added a few more drizzles and that was it. Maybe if you get this, ask if you can get like a dipping container on the side or something.

Had a bunch of lamb sticks and sweet and sour pork. The food was alright and I thought sweet and sour pork was a bit subpar.

I saw this place being advertised on social media so decided to give it a try. We came on a Saturday evening and it was empty. The decor was very random (huge cartoon figures on the wall), outdated chairs and tables, dark lighting, one tv screen playing Chinese songs. I've had Chinese skewers so I know what it tastes like. It's a good price $18 for 10 skewers - usually it's much pricier in other places. I ordered the beef, lamb, pork, and chicken. The quality was very inconsistent. Some of the meat was tender while others were really tough. I was disappointed at the lack of consistency with the meat. It was bland. I could taste the spice but it still lacked flavor. You are given a mixture of spices on your plate but it still wasn't enough. We also didn't receive any service. The server didn't stop by our table. We had to physically get up and look for him. A pretty disappointing experience.

The experience was absolutely fantastic! The owners came to the table, chatted with us, showed us how to grill the food, and told us their story. Definitely the BEST Korean BBQ in Atlanta. And of course the food was absolutely DELICIOUS!

This Chinese-Korean skewer place still holds its own against the competition with their unique skewer cooking tables. Just note that the drinks fridge is sometimes self-service and the waiters won't always check up on you. Purely food based review: Lamb - My personal favorite, juicy and not too gamey. Beef - Pretty standard and great with the numbing spice mix. Pork Belly - Really juicy and another great option to get. Shrimp - They cooked ours so you'll have to work to get it off the shell. Pretty decent. Squid - precooked and cut for us, really good with the spice glazed over it. Beef Tripe salad - Numbing spice and cuts of tripe, I'd only order if you like it. Beef Cucumber Salad - A good option to get alongside all the skewers! Note that rice is extra but portions are sharable between 2 people.

beef, beef tongue, and chicken heart skewers

I originally found this restaurant while scrolling through Instagram reels and thought the concept was fresh: skewers that you can roast yourself. However, we found that you have to specifically request to roast your own skewers (at no extra charge). Otherwise, they came out a bit cold from the kitchen. The prices are a bit expensive ($18 for entrees such as lamb or beef). The more exotic meats that we tried (chicken heart and beef tongue) tasted good but were about $10 for 4-5 skewers of each, if I remember correctly. As another review mentioned, they give you an extra plate of savory, powdered seasoning to dip your skewers in. Additionally, we tried the spicy lamb soup, which was spicy (burns your throat the same way chili oil would if swallowed too fast/incorrectly) and had a generous amount of lamb. I would say give this place a try if you're into meat skewers!

    skewered meat on a grill

Try to get a table with a grill! If I counted correctly, there are only 4 grill tables, so I'd recommend calling ahead to reserve one of those coveted spots. What's cool about the grill is that it's got this automated skewer turning mechanism so that you don't have to constantly keep watch. They also have extremely good ventilation built into the grill-so much so, that you don't get much charcoal flavor on the skewers. The service was pretty lackluster. Maybe it was because we were in a room, and they forgot about us. They didn't come by very often, and we had to to go out of the room multiple times to find help. The skewers though were pretty tasty. We got the beef, lamb, chicken, chicken heart, gizzard, squid, and intestines. All of the meats were delicious (esp with the spicy powder!) and we got to cook them to the doneness that we preferred. However, the waitress forgot to bring out 3 of the ordered items and we ended up having to wait forever for those to be brought out. The salted vegetables were also very good, but I don't know if it was worth $10 for the amount that we received. One thing to note: although the sign is in Korean, don't expect this to be like a traditional Korean restaurant. They don't serve banchan (free side dishes) or rice with the meal. Everything is a la carte.

The Korean food scenes got my wife and I hungry every time! Having been to many of Atlanta's best Korean restaurants over the past decade, Stone Bowl is a clear notch above the rest. The side dishes are just simply better with robust authentic seasoning and unforgettable flavor that leaves you craving for more. The kimchi is spot on for spice but not overwhelming. The potatoes are to die for, cooked to perfection, tender and absorbent of all the nearby flavors. For the first time, we tried the Korean sushi roll (K-Pop Demon Hunters was calling) and it didn't disappoint. Stuffed with fresh cooked bulgogi and veggies, we ate it so fast we were left thinking of Korean sushi rolls had an edge over Japanese sushi rolls! And we also got the poached dumplings for the first time and almost went as fast as the sushi roll. The authentic style of poaching the dumpling made it taste homemade from grandma's kitchen. The sizzling plate of bulgogi was amazingly put down the gullet on top of everything else. Consistently on point and warms the tummy. Service is cordial, but somewhat aloof and distant at times because we would have loved an offer to refill our side dishes, but admittedly they are often busy and we don't go there to expect Michelin dining service levels. We come for the food. Awesome food. And Stone Bowl House will be seeing us again before long.

All the tables seemed to be run by one lady, at least when I visited, but the food came out fairly quick for the amount of people there versus the single waitress. My friend and I shared the Kimchi Pancake and Fresh Pork Belly. The Kimchi Pancake was huge! There were 8 small to medium sized slices (think pizza size). The pancake had a good crunch and taste, especially when dipped into the complementary sauce. My only complaint would be that it had a lot of onions. I would have preferred more kimchi and flour. The Fresh Pork Belly was good, but I wish it was crisper. We were also fans of the banchan! I liked the kimchi and pickled radish. I think if you are looking Korean food that feels like it was home-cooked with love, then Yet Tuh is the place to go! It has a lot of traditional Korean food such as stews and grilled meats & fish. Service? Excellent. Ambiance? Relaxed and enjoyable. Food? Oh...MAN. Wow…read more.. I came here about 8 years ago with the same family members +1 family friend and we enjoyed dinner then, but it truly didn't compare to this visit. Previously, I had Kang Nam slated as an overpriced, but decent sushi place that serves meals on a more robust scale if you're dining with a party. However, the sushi back then was somewhat underwhelming. Last night, we had a phenomenal set. Hamachi, Otoro, Unagi, Ebi, and more! Every piece was delicately balanced and beautifully arranged. Honestly, I wasn't really expecting too much going in- and I'd only chosen Kang Nam as a place where I could get some decent sushi while my family got something else entirely. My mom had Don Katsu (served with a small dish of Japanese style curry sauce). My uncle got the Tempura Udon, of which they served the tempura shrimp on the side in a bed of tempura flakes. This is kind of genius, because you can make the decision on when you want to dip in your tempura instead of them bringing it and you have to down the tempura fast in order to still have it be crunchy... NOT HERE! It stays crunchy since they serve it separately. Love that. We had refillable banchan: kimchi, king oyster mushrooms, and glass noodles- all of which were delicious. We all received bowls of deliciously simple miso soup and we ordered a set of fried dumplings. Everything was great! That is...until the sushi came out. Wow. Presentation: 10/10. Flavor? 10/10. Portion-size: TEN OUT OF TEN, Y'ALL. The sushi rice was fantastic and they didn't use too much like a lot of places do with their nigiri. The toppings were functionally decorative. The sweet shrimp was especially pretty with two different colors of roe on top. The yellowtail didn't need the toppings it had- green onion and fish/squid flakes(?)- in my opinion, but they added a dimension of texture to the initial bite and a hint of flavor to the finish. The fish was perfect in every way: not too thick, no too thin, overlapping the rice by double to allow for perfect soy sauce dips without soaking the rice, and I just CAN NOT EXPLAIN how good each piece was... The sushi rolls were so delicious and every bite had wonderful textures and flavors, but my absolute favorite roll was the one with the smoked tuna on top- WOW! Absolutely stunned. Never - EVER - have I actually tasted the smoke flavor so clearly and completely. I am a HUGE fan of that one and I can't even remember the name of it...it's in the picture on the plate behind the sweet shrimp. The eel nigiri was also a highlight for me- as it's one of my favorite pieces of sushi, I always order several pieces. I was happily surprised to see they were nearly twice the size I get at other restaurants. Hands-down, the best otoro (fatty tuna) I've had in Atlanta. The sushi chef here also believes in giving special service by preparing some extra pieces for the customers as well. I only ordered one set of otoro, but next time....oh my...my bill is gonna hurt next time. Each 2-piece set of otoro is set at $17, so...yeah... It's going to be SO WORTH IT though. I will 10000% be back- soon. I might just get some Otoro, Hamachi, and one of those smoked tuna rolls...man. SO. RIDICULOUSLY. GOOD. Get in there if you haven't been in a while. Trust me!

Toward the end of my meal, the chicken started tasting a bit too much like meat and it was a bit off putting, but other than that it was still a delicious sandwich. The hashbrown was nothing special. Dish has become my new go-to for Korean. Favs = ANY of the soups or pancakes. But literally never…read morebeen disappointed with any of their other options, so you can't go wrong. They give you a ton of small dishes as you wait (arguably the best part of Korean food) and the servers are super nice about refills.

The plus side is they still have an extensive menu, prices are reasonable, portions are good -…read morehowever it doesn't quite feel like an authentic Korean restaurant. It seems like maybe the ownership changed b/c the same Korean servers I used to see are not there anymore. When we went, all the servers were non-Asian - very nice though. Also they only offer 4 banchan (most Korean restaurants serve 7 banchan) - only 2 were Korean (kimchi and bean sprouts); the other 2 - macaroni salad and green beans. HAEMUL JJAMPONG KALGUKSU - $16 Noodles were good (not handmade), broth was ok, and seafood comprised squid, mussels (no shell), clams, and 2 shrimp. Other dishes - tried my friends' Chicken Tenders which I found on the bland side. They also got the bulgogi and spicy pork bowls for $13 each - which was just meat, rice, and salad. The plates (vs bowls) might be more interesting. No hurry to come back but nice to know if I'm looking for a Korean spot that isn't crowded, this is the place to go.

You know what I like about Han Il Kwan? The meat. I like that there's a fire on my table. (Or…read moremore specifically, IN my table.) And that I can cook on it. You know what I'm not fond of? The price tag. But depending on your mood and the occasion, Han Il Kwan can very much be worth it. Han Il Kwan is something of a Buford Highway pillar. Almost an Atlanta dining tradition. They've been here for years. And the place remains clean and inviting on the inside, with staff that really just wants to make sure you get served and well fed. You don't have to do the table-top BBQ thing if you don't want to, there are other things on the menu, but I have no idea what they are, because the BBQ is the only thing I've ever gotten here. And it is really good. Bring your posse of friends and enjoy. This is quality Korean BBQ. I am a fan of all things beef. The short-ribs are outstanding. Of course, Han Il Kwan will put a variety of Banchan on the table. You're sure to get some kimchi, some picked radishes & sprouts, maybe some unspecified tubers, or some tempura. But again, the star of the show is the meat. Some day I'll go and try other things on the menu. Holler if you're coming with.
