Ordered to-go from here based on a recommendation. I was a little hesitant based on how many stars Kobe-Ya has on Yelp, but decided to give it a try. Food: - Chicken Teriyaki Bento Box: comes with cucumber noodles, rice, and salad. This bento box came with quite a bit of rice and chicken teriyaki (could be one hefty meal or a meal with leftovers). - Side of cucumber noodles: these noodles were actually really good. This was probably my favorite of all the dishes. The side comes in a good size tub - Lion king roll: not the best I've had - the salmon was dry and it was lacking the sauce a Lion king roll usually comes with - Sake roll: comes with avocado in the roll. This was a pretty big roll - came with eight large pieces Miscellaneous: - Parking is available via metered street parking - The sign isn't the most obvious. Kobe-Ya is located right next to Sidestreet Pho (right on the corner of Encinal and Oak) Overall, not super satisfied with this place. The lady who helped me was really nice and the cucumber noodles were good, but the rest was average.

It's definitely a family style Japanese take out spot. Nothing fancy. Not a good place to take someone you want to impress. But predictable and _mostly delicious food. Cracks me up to see photos with the very old prices! Take out service is usually pretty quick, but every restaurant can get busy. Pick up via car is a 2 person job, as parking is fugedaboutit. Bentos are your best bet, and the Ca roll, if you don't mind fake crab.

From high school til now Kobe-Ya maintains how I remember their food. I rate Kobe-Ya 3 stars because like a previous review said, its not the highest quality of food and you may not get 5-star service but if you need a japanese food fix Kobe-Ya may hit that. Even though Im a supporter, I have to base my review realistically and not emotion based. I really love their White Noodles and Tokyo Noodles; the ONLY place Ive gotten white noodles so when I get their bento boxes, I get only white noodles as sides. Ive gotten their chicken teriyaki and ton katsu a countless number of times over the years and its a baseline for the items. Dependent on the time of day you go, parking right outside or on the block may be tough but usually after school-hours and late weekends youll find a spot.

Hands down best bento box place! Most of the places I've been to, their chicken would be super dry or they don't give enough sauce. I've been going here for years and ever time I get a bento box it doesn't disappoint. Their salad and noodles ARE THEY BEST (although some of my friends haven't been big fans), I personally love it! Service was quick, you just order and sit down and when your food is ready they'll let you know. The inside may not look the best or look the cleanest, but the bento boxes are amazing!

Best bento boxes in Alameda. The teriyaki sauce on the chicken is super tasty and the katsu is cooked well and super crispy. Service is great, would recommend to come if craving a bento box.

Still good food! Teriyaki chicken is my go to. My Vietnamese sandwich this last time seemed to be missing some jalapeños but minor inconvenience

Love this place.. been coming here since 2004 or 2005. My go to stop for bento box .. good flavorful food ... at a great price. U must try the egg rolls they are soo good., I usually get the chicken teriyaki bento box with fried rice all salad.. or half chicken half beef .. I like my food extra saucy so I always get an extra teriyaki sauce on the side.. did I mention they cater.. and have some sushi rolls..

Spicy Tuna Mayo, a side of ginger. We found a bug in our food.

I'm really disappointed. I really wanted to like this place since it was recommended by my partner, but unfortunately a few events occurred. First, we were overcharged. It was suppose to be $33 but we were charged about $50. We did confront the woman at the counter. We received our actual change back. No problem. It was just disappointing to discover a bug in our food. We didn't really know how to handle the situation. We returned about 15 minutes after leaving the restaurant. I told the woman about the bug and showed her a picture. We didn't want a refund but more of an acknowledgment from the establishment. Instead, we were called liars. I was truly baffled about the treatment. I work in a kitchen myself. Mistakes happen, shit happens. It was unfortunate to be called a liar. Overall, I would not recommend eating at this place. You'll most likely be overcharged and find insects in your food. We should have known something was off when the restaurant was completely empty. No customers while we waited for our food to be prepared.

The nastiest sushi I have ever had. The lion King was utter trash plus the imitation crab tasted old. Do not waste your money on this place.

I love the ease of their grab-and-go fridge which is always well stocked at most times of the day. You can't go wrong with anything on their menu I switch out my rolls every so often and have tried most of their items. The location itself is small and parking can be tricky depending on the day but I usually find street parking and quickly run in. There was a line, but because there is no seating, service was quick! It was hard to choose from all of the delicious looking choices, but I went with the spicy tuna ($8.99). It was simple, fresh and really tasty. The subtle heat allowed for the mild sweetness of the tuna to come through, and the texture of the seaweed and rice were perfect. There is also a nice selection of Japanese snacks and beverages to add to your meal, and the prices were all very reasonable. If you live in the area or just visiting Piedmont Ave., I highly recommend Ebiko for very fresh, healthy, and delicious grab-and-go sushi!

We were seated about an hour later, but once we got in, the service was quick and efficient. We ordered a mix of items to share: * Enoki chips - absolutely addicting. Perfectly crispy with a great crunch, and the umami spice on the side took them to another level. * Chicken karaage - tasty overall, but the glaze was poured over everything. I would've preferred it on the side to keep the texture crisp. * Kani hand roll - super fresh and flavorful; didn't even need soy sauce. * Ikura & hotate hand roll - generous portion and very fresh, again no soy needed. * Garlic Knockout ramen - lives up to the name. Rich, deeply garlicky broth that was bold and delicious. * Signature smoked toripaitan ramen - flavorful without being overly heavy (which I prefer). The chashu was tender and the noodles tasted fresh. I was blown away by the food, I haven't had ramen this good in a long time. The restaurant clearly runs efficiently, turning tables quickly despite the wait. I'll definitely be back

Then we had the brotherhood with Hamachi, also delicious. We couldn't decide which we liked more, both were really flavorful, compact and great on their own and with wasabi, soy sauce and ginger. Lastly, we got some Miso soups, which were some of the freshest tasting Miso soups I have ever had. Everyone was very helpful, friendly, checked in with us and chatted with us when it wasn't busy. Fun and delicious…read more Vietnamese food is at the top when it comes to bright and refreshing bites, and Bacogai embodies that with a modern atmosphere as well as some tasty dishes. The duck salad was a hit. Citrus, some fish sauce. A great way to open up your appetite. The wings also had a bit of fish sauce funkiness on their glaze, and were juicy and crispy. The shaking beef with the with the rice noodles and lettuce was also a crowd-pleaser. The beef was tender and flavorful. We tried two hot pot flavors: sweet and sour and the pork bone broth. I preferred the sweet and sour one with the fish, prawns, and lots of interesting veggies like okra and the bac-ha which was fanstastic at soaking up the broth. I found the pork one a bit gamey, and the pork being already in the hot-pot was not super tender. Service was friendly and generally attentive. Definitely worth checking out for a date or a group dinner.

I've tried both the Oxtail/beef and pork hotpot, both were really good, I like the pork a little better because I'm a huge tonkotsu ramen fan, and the broth reminded me of that a lot. The beef luc lac, which is sort of like shaking beef over vermicelli and lettuce is also excellent. They now charge extra for broth refills, which they did not the first time I dined here, around a year or so ago. Overall, this is a nice addition to Alameda's dining options and I hope they stick around!

It's better this way. Try it. Saturday was unusual in that they were short staffed and almost at capacity. The food and service did not suffer. Fortunately, me and my light pink shirt were the only casualties, but I made a huge mess. Napkins were thrown my way by other customers. I cleaned the table and floor. Yes, I really went for it. Most of the soy sauce was on me and my shoes. The server apologized she didn't completely wipe up my mess. No worries. It was my fault. Hashi Gawa has become a fave for Dad and I. It's in a plaza so there's parking . When you walk in it's a cute store front . Modern but cozy . Customer service was nice and fun . Our waitress was very helpful . Oysters on the half shell were fresh. Yall know that's my favorite and I'll never tell no lies ! The sauce they put on it was a nice touch and not overbearing the fresh oyster taste ! Tempura has a nice crispy batter and the prawns were plump not skimpy or chewy . I also got the Santa Barbara hand roll because I really wanted uni but they don't sell uni as an appetizer. The hand roll itself was good nice flavor loved the salmon eggs , just wish there was more uni ( probably because that's what I really wanted lol I'm being honest okay ). But the star of the show for me was the SPICY LION KING ROLL . I've had plenty of lion king rolls throughout the years but never had a spicy one and it was bomb . I think what makes it spicy is the sauce they use . Wasn't too hot just an extra little kick to everything going on . We were sitting right next to the sushi makers and they overheard us talking about how good it was and they loved our vibe . We chatted and got to a point they gave us a free dessert which was so good ! I forgot the name but it was like a soft fluffy pancake filled with cold cream like vanilla ice cream !
