Our group arrived as part of a party of 20 and was escorted by the hostess to an area where two tables had been prepared--one for 12 guests and another for 8\. After the first group began settling at the table for 12, six of us were seated at the second table, which had already been prepared to accommodate eight guests\. Shortly thereafter, Alicia approached us and told us that we needed to get up from the table\. She explained that she had only accounted for a party of 12, not 20, and that the table where we were seated was intended for a party of 10 arriving later\. We were then directed back to the host stand, where we were required to wait for an extended period of time\. What made the situation even more frustrating was that there were several empty tables visible throughout the restaurant\. Ultimately, we were permitted to return to the very same table from which we had initially been asked to get up\. I understand that restaurants must manage reservations, staffing, and seating arrangements; however, the way this situation was handled was unnecessary and embarrassing\. We had been seated by a LongHorn employee at a table that was already prepared for guests, only to have a manager approach us and require us to leave\. Alicia's demeanor throughout the interaction came across as rude, dismissive, and arrogant rather than apologetic or solution\-oriented\. A manager should be capable of addressing an internal seating miscommunication without making customers feel as though they have done something wrong\. This experience highlighted a significant opportunity for Alicia to receive additional coaching in customer service, communication, and emotional intelligence\. Even if there was a legitimate operational reason for temporarily relocating us, the situation could have been handled with courtesy, empathy, and a clear explanation of available options\. I would, however, like to recognize Aiden for the way he handled the situation\. He was pleasant, understanding, and genuinely attempted to assist us by explaining the next steps for joining the remainder of our party. His professionalism was greatly appreciated, particularly given the frustration surrounding the situation\. I am requesting that LongHorn management review this experience and address the manner in which it was handled\. Customers should not be seated by restaurant staff, subsequently asked to get up and return to the host stand, and then ultimately be seated again at the exact same table--all while being treated as though they created the problem\. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and used as an opportunity to improve the customer experience and management response when similar situations arise\.
