We came in a couple of weeks ago, it being on the Columbus Ale trail, the beer was good. The best thing about this place was the fact that we came in late in the evening after going to many other bars and the service was excellent. The chef make us food, then agreed to make dessert even after the kitchen had closed. Service was much appreciated. read more

Dude just stop making food - at least pick only a few things and make them well. The brunch is overly packed and service slow. Food was cold. Dough tastes store bought. The location and concept has lots of potential, however, it is being wasted on making a mediocre experience. read more

Great food! I got a burger and it was amazing! The pork nachos were decent. For being a brewery, they only had 3 of their own brews on tap which was surprising, but the overall draft list is really long with all Ohio breweries. Not the warehouse brewery vibe, definitely more of a restaurant. read more

The only reason I gave one star is because they serve beer. Bartender told my husband and I that the chef doesn't put vegetables on pizza. The salad was pretty much one huge piece of lettuce because I'm guessing the chef doesn't cut or prep things either. Terrible service. We left and didn't finish the side salads. Have other friends that say they aren't kid friendly at all which is weird considering they're in the middle of an amazing family neighborhood. read more

Cool neighborhood spot with a spacious covered patio. Their food is actually very good, and consistently so. Lots of items on the menu with brisket (philly cheese, French dip, a couple others I might be forgetting?) and it's great. Their pizzas are pretty good too. Drafts are half off for happy hour which makes them quite reasonably priced. I'm no beer expert, I've tried a few of theirs and they seem pretty good but not anything mindblowing. The cherry porter is my favorite- great fall beer. Wish they had happy hour food specials. read more

Definitely not the best of places I have gone for brunch, both in food and service. I was genuinely excited and looking forward to checking this place out from what others have said about it. Mind you, my partner and I come from the service industry, so we give a lot of grace as far as critiquing a new destination to check out. Came in this morning with a larger group reservation of maybe 15 to start off new years eve. There were no other customers in the bar, and I counted at least five or six personnel working. My partner and I and two others came in a little later than the rest of the group, so I know how that can throw off a server's flow, I'll say that much. Everyone else at the table was just getting their food as we sat down. We ordered two coffees and two shots of whiskey as well as some water, which alone took about 20 minutes to get. Considering we are the only ones in the place, that seems ridiculous. Even if they had to brew a new batch of coffee, it should not have taken that long. At least tell us that so we're not twiddling our thumbs wondering why our drinks are just hanging out at the hand off station at the bar. Also kept hearing our waitress walk by talking to another staff member say how she had nothing to do, and she kept making rounds around the empty restaurant. I'm not trying to sound bitchy, but a few things she could've been doing was 1: Removing unused glasses and plates from our long table 2: At least handed out the drinks that WERE ready, and informed us that they needed to brew coffee 3: Refilled the water. My partner ordered the chicken and waffles, and I ordered the chorizo hash. The chicken and waffles were OK at best. Nothing special really. My hash however was just tasteless. The sweet potatoes were dry, and the chorizo was WAAAAAAAY over cooked. It just tasted like rubber. Nothing to it. I'm pretty sure there was zero seasoning to this meal. Even the eggs which were supposed to be over-easy were overdone. Also a side note, again, we were a reservation, no one else was there, yet we didn't even have silverware when the food was handed out and the rest of the restaurant was completely set up and ready to go. So that's just silly. I will say the food came out in a timely manner, and the make-your-own bloody mary bar on tap is a fantastic idea. Over all though, the whole experience was disappointing. We still tipped well, and again, I get it. A slow morning can make you miss a few things when serving, but pay more attention to your only table if you feel there is nothing else to do. read more

Bad food. Slow service. I've been twice and really wanted to like this place. First time went on a Friday-the service was SO slow, and they had run out of so many items, including pizza dough and their own beer. ON A FRIDAY. Super slow service. I ordered a burger, it was overcooked and mediocre at best. Took an eternity for them to get us the correct bills and pay out. Wanted to give it another try, so went today with a group for lunch. There was one server, who was curt and unfriendly. Again, it took FOREVER to get the food out. I ordered the pork seared salad. It came out at lest 6 min after everyone else's. The pork was ok, but the salad was disgusting. There was so much salt on it, the greens were wilted, and the salad dressing was so watered down, it might as well have been water. And it ended up being a 2 hour lunch. No go. Never again. read more

I live nearby so I've gone a few times. I just don't get it. I went for brunch and took my niece. The side items were cheap so I asked if getting her a pancake would be as cheap as the sides and I was told yes. She's 4 and doesn't eat and I ended up paying like $7 for her pancakes. I didn't notice it until I got home. I took my brother there after I met him at the gym. We were starving and it was 45 minutes after we ordered. I asked for our appetizer and they never put the order in. So we ate food an hour later and there were maybe 10 people in the whole restaurant. The food is ok. It could definitely be better. Though I do really enjoy the chorizo hash. The service is not good. I'm gluten-free so I don't drink beer. I get that it was a nano brewery (I think it's now a micro brewery?) but seriously, my friends and I went maybe 10 times this summer and each time they were out of their own beer. read more

Went in with a friend for "happy hour" ...read: we just wanted drinks and food and didn't care about discounts. Sam, our bartender made us margaritas without tripel sec FROM HEAVEN (as bartenders... we were kinda picky and she was super sweet and delivered a gorgeous product.) We ordered the mussels frite... basically the most delicious thing I've ever had. All the flavors gelled and for $10 we had MORE THAN ENOUGH to split. We will be coming back for the gorgeous service by Sam, and that cute guy harmonizing with himself on the acoustic in the corner. ;) read more

The food is pretty decent, so so beers brewed on premises. However, wont be returning ever due to very slow service. Visited two times, i could of had a birthday both times while there from the time of initially getting a server to the order being taken, coming out of the kitchen and getting any drinks then getting tab finally picked up and paid for. The service here is really bad! read more

Favorite brunch spot in Columbus !! Weekend specials including unique mimosas, build your own Bloody Mary bar, chef specials, etc. Everything is homemade from their breads and condiments to smoking their own meats. They even brew their own beer ! Great patio and cozy indoor space. Absolutely love this place! read more

Not that great of a place, and probably won't be going back any time soon.... there are way better options out there for both beer and/or food. We ordered their pork nachos... which had a decent amount of cheese (looked like some cheese sauce and some shredded cheese). A few fresh jalapeños and a fair amount of pork. I think i saw a few kernels of corn and half of a cherry tomato in there as well. The pork itself was nothing to write home about. A lot of the chips were burnt... and burnt tortilla chips aren't a good flavor. The beer: A decent selection of draft beers from around Ohio and beyond. However... they only had three beers of their own on their menu. An Amber, light lager, and pineapple shandy. All subpar and really lacked much flavor. Maybe they had more beer inside of their own? I just looked at the beer menu we were given. The upside is they have good happy hour pricing at ~$3 per beer Overall disappointing, service was pretty good, food not great, beers nothing special read more

I am originally from Grandview and remember the old KnottyPine. Now it's newly owned and it's a brewery. They kept some of the old knotty style with a new flavor! I had their country fried meatloaf sandwich! OMG yum!! And I am a huge fan of their Knotty Blonde house beer on tap! Definitely going to make this one of my regular eat out spots! read more

My husband brought home a cheese pizza for dinner and it's one of the best pizzas we've had in Columbus. We will definitely be back, and I can't wait to try their beer! read more

Was fairly busy on a Saturday night....although got seated right away. Has a local hang vibe - which makes sense as is a bit off the beaten path. Has a large U-shaped bar with 4 flat screen TVs overhead. Large selection of drafts (23) and the service was good! Had a sandwich for dinner which was ok...saw another diner with the ribs which looked much better....will give another try in the future. "You just don't get it, do you Scott? We had stopped 2 other places on this particular Sunday before making the stop here, passing on the other two because the wait time was too long. Upon arrival they cleaned a table and got my party sat quickly. They had a brunch special, brisket hash, that I took advantage of and we also tried their donut holes and they were delightful! I did not partake in the other brunch festivities however, I have been there before and their mimosas are pretty good as well. read more

Our group was seated immediately and then were not served for 30 mins. We left without anyone questioning why we were leaving

The service is great. The beer is great. The menu is limited and pricy for what it is. The fries tasted like they had freezer burn then thrown in a cold oven to bake. What's up with the homemade ketchup?! Bring back the old knotty pine menu!! read more

Service is always great and friendly. I have never had a problem with anything the wait staff has recommended. The food is always delicious. read more

We've been here 4-5 times in the past few months and have enjoyed it every time. The food is well prepared and there are some great choices. The service has been great-- friendly and fast. It is comfortable and welcoming. We've been there on week day evenings and there has been really good live entertainment. On Sundays, the $2 mimosas are hard to turn down but if bloody marys are more your thing, they have a make your own bar with lots of garnish. **** Try the chicken and waffles**** seriously best chicken I've ever had read more

I'm so conflicted about the Knotty Pine. I've been there probably 15 times or so, in large part because it's close to our house and it's my wife's favorite patio. There are serious problems with the management and service. Serious, regular problems. You order a beer when your meal comes out and it's frequently not there yet by the time you're finished. They're typically out of a third of their beers at any given times. Your appetizer frequently comes out at the same time as your entree...and one time after the entree. There are consistency problems with the food where, even if it's really good every time, it's markedly different from one trip to the next and you don't know what to expect. Servers are slow to check on you and slow to return when you ask for basic things like a plate for your pizza or a roll of silverware. They don't know which kind of Knotty Pine beer -- their own damn beer! -- is on tap sometimes. These problems were forgivable when Knotty Pine opened, as they were just figuring things out and sometimes it takes awhile for a place to work out the kinks. However, they've been open for months now, and this kind of crap shouldn't still be happening on a consistent basis. But it does. Every single time. But we keep going back because the food's damn good. The pizzas (esp. the BBQ chicken) hold their own with places like Harvest that are well known for their pizza. The appetizer bowl of fries, covered in Parmesan and spices with house-made ketchup (or Heinz somedays...or no ketchup if they forget to bring it and then don't come back to your table) is amazing. The sandwiches and salads are delicious. Brunch is very good. Knotty Pine is definitely worth checking out based on the quality of the food. However, make sure you go at a time when you aren't in a hurry, and make sure you're prepared to be patient and forgiving. read more

Side salad and Mushroom Ricotta pizza. Food was decent, nothing left an indent in my mind. It's been rather difficult to find a good crust around Columbus, I feel. Nothing to do with done-ness or burnt, I'm talking flavor. No, I don't want it doused in garlic or butter. But, yes, there should be herbs/spices/something in the dough to let my tastebuds identify "This is pizza dough, Gwen, not a slice of white run of the mill bread." Sometimes, I think I'm being overly picky, and wondering if I've been missing quality all along... Who knows. We had a big group in our party (something like 20), and the only downside of the evening was waiting on our checks. Forty-eight minutes. Literally. Kinda a bummer. read more

I live very close to this place and have been there probably about 10 times. The setting is awesome, the patio is nice and they offer a decent brunch. That being said, the last 3 times I have been here I've received awful service. Tonight when we walked in at about 7pm, there were employees sitting at the bar. They just hollered at my fiance and I to sit wherever without even getting up. When our server did come to our table she could barely manage to crack a smile, and when I asked what the chefs salad was I seemed to greatly inconvenience her. There is a paticular woman who works here who seems really miserable. She's rude, I'm sure she knows it, I work in a very customer first environment in retail and she just seems really unhappy. I will no longer visit this place because of the repeated bad service, which is a shame. read more

Looooooovvveeee this place. Food is great - try the wings or burgers, you won't be disappointed. They do an $11 NY strip night on Mondays and a $5 build your own bloody bar for brunch on Saturday and Sunday mornings. The service is friendly and always available. read more

Ok, I give up. This place is officially on my no-fly list, despite living close enough to walk. Service is spotty -- either really great or really bad, but the biggest issue is the food. It's terrible. Period. The execution is horrible. Undercooked pretzel bread, SUPER DRY chicken, sloppy soggy tasteless sandwiches, limp bacon, salads missing half their ingredients, endless substitutions that are not communicated to the patrons. I can't tell you how many times I've ordered only to receive something with substituted ingredients -- major things like pork instead of lamb or a dryyyyy chicken breast instead of pulled chicken. Update your dang menus or warn me first!!!! Geez. read more

Came in this Wednesday night and it was slow. We sat at the bar and the lady working was friendly and chatted with us throughout the night. She talked us through several of the beers and when we ask for recommendations she gave us several samples of house beers and guest taps. Very nice beer list. The burger we had was good -- however I would not get the fries next time as they were disappointing. They were limp and a little on the greasy side. The ketchup was interesting, if a little spicy. The bartender said they make it themselves. We will be back to try brunch soon! read more

This should really be a 3 1/2 star rating but 3 is more reflective of our experience than 4. First, we will definitely go back. Nice people. Good food. OK beer. Good beer list. Nice vibes. And the owner, Jay, is ever-present and goes out of his way to tend to your needs despite some very uneven (ok, poor) service. First the good. Nice location. Nice atmosphere (think dive bar with a touch of class). Good food. Our burgers were perfectly cooked with a lot of flavor and went well with the good buns, the cheese and smoked tomatoes. Unlike an earlier reviewer, I found the house-made ketchup delightfully good. French fries were very good also. Pepper appetizers had a nice variety and everyone loved them. Crostini appetizer was a good thought with not enough execution. Needs work. Meatball appetizer was declared very good and none was left for me to taste. House-crafted beer (Mirror Lake IPA) lacked ooomph. They are new at this, so I am hoping it will get better. All in all, the food was worth going back for. And did I mention the owner seems a great guy trying hard to make things right. Now the bad. Service, Most of the servers had a deer-in-the-headlights look. After being seated and waiting ten minutes for someone to talk with us we had to ask the owner to find someone. She came to take our drink orders. Didn't write them down. Got two out of four wrong. One in our party ordered a Manhattan made with Maker's Mark up. It came on the rocks. The server said it was a house special and how they come. Not a good or acceptable answer. Bourbon on the rocks with a splash of soda came out more soda than bourbon. Sigh. Tanquery and tonic. No lime. No tonic. All gin. Sheesh. Had to keep corralling her to take orders. Had to ask three times for a lime. Again, she never wrote anything down. This may work for someone with a high level of experience, but she obviously does not have it. In partial defense, they were slammed. But a server wants to be busy.. More tips. Not an excuse. Mention this to the owner and he said he is addressing the problems. I want to love this place. I think and hope they will deal with the issues. If so, it will be a go-to locale. Give it a try. I think you will enjoy it. read more

Best wings I've ever had in my life... they are smoked to perfection and then finished off on the grill to order. The only wings I've ever had that don't need a sauce to be good (in fact I prefer them dry because the dry rub they are smoked with is perfect on its own.) read more

Watching this very inefficient bar staff frantically fumble their way through a sparsely populated Friday afternoon service told me all I needed to know. The staff doesn't have any natural tendencies that are required to keep a service humming. There are too many good alternatives with great service and menu options that will ensure the Knotty Pine won't see 2016. read more

In fairness, I have to say that we were excited to learn that the old Knotty Pine would become a brew pub, but then disappointed to also learn that it would be under the same ownership as The Rude Dog, which was absolutely horrible in all respects. We very much wanted Knotty Pine Brewing to be excellent, or even good. It isn't. The menu is extremely limited with almost no vegetarian options. And, as someone else mentioned, the beer listing is embarrassing for a so-called brew pub. Our waiter was completely at a loss when one of our party asked what kind of IPA their sole IPA was. Is it like this? Is it like that? He had no idea. We had to repeatedly request glasses of water. The pizzas were both way undercooked and he brought no plates, no napkins and no silver-wear. We asked him twice for these items and eventually asked the hostess to arrange their delivery. It was very crowded, but I have to assume that everyone was there for the first and final time. Bad food, bad menu, bad service....a trifecta! We want it to be good. It is not. Bring back the old Knotty Pine (before it was updated). read more

Had the pleasure of eating dinner at Knotty Pine Brewing this past Monday evening. The beer was good, our waiter was good, and the food was good. There were 4 people in our party, each ordering something different for dinner, and everyone walked away with happy bellies. I ordered the Smoked Brisket French Dip sandwich and it was fantastic! I'll definitely order it again when we go back. The Cuban Sandwich-- made with smoked pork shoulder-- was a hit with my mother-in-law, the Perch Dinner was definitely enjoyed by my father-in-law (I did not taste it, but was impressed at how nice the fried perch fillets looked when they brought it out), and my husband ordered the Perch sandwich, which he said was good too. The biggest hit at our table were the hand-cut fries and house ketchup which came with our sandwiches. Fries were hot, crispy, had a little bit of potato inside and a little bit of salt on the outside, not at all oily, and did not turn soggy after sitting for several minutes. They may be the best tasting fries in Grandview! If you enjoy smoked meats, check this place out! Their house made brisket and pulled pork are great! Not too fatty, not too smokey, very tender, and has a great looking bark on the outside. We'll definitely be back. read more

The Earl Daly cocktail is SO GOOD. I like that the cocktail menu offers unique drinks since most breweries are too beer-oriented to bother with good cocktails. The environment and service is great. The food menu is a bit fancier than most standard bar fare and is moderately expensive. The soba salad was weird but delicious, and the homemade ketchup was great. Would return for the service, environment, and drinks but probably not for the food alone. I'm glad to have The Knotty Pine as an addition to the neighborhood! read more

Great pizza. Had the brisket and a custom. Both were awesome. Good beer and service. Could be my new regular place!

Based upon my visit tonight, I had a great experience. Staff was friendly and attentive. They now have specials. One was two brisket tacos with Mexican corn on the cob. The brisket was extremely flavorful and must have finished the brisket on the grill before loading the taco because it was little crispy and very caramelized. Definitely should consider making the tacos as a regular on the menu. The corn was messy but delicious. I had an unusual but excellent brown ale called Morning Commute by Outerbelt Brewing out of Carrol, OH. Nice coffee flavor undertone and a malty. read more

This is a nice brew pub in Grandview. They only put Ohio beers on tap along with their own brew and have a decent sized list. Their IPA is what I'll usually pick. It's In the lighter side of IPAs and is easy to drink. There is a patio and the servers are always helpful. I haven't had anything really stand out on the menu. It's really just an average place to grab a beer and a sandwich. read more

Probably should be a 2.5 star review when I went there for lunch today at 2:00pm. Absolutely no one was inside. I asked about ordering one of their pizzas but was informed it would be another 10 minutes before the oven was up to temperature and if I could wait for that time plus another 10 minutes to cook the pizza it would be ready. I decided not to wait the 20 minutes and just ordered a burger and fries plus a soda off the extremely limited (I counted 5 items - 5!) lunch menu. The burger was nice, cooked properly and tasted nice. The homemade fries were very good. However, I received a dollop of ketchup on my tray (strange, it looked like a lunch tray from the cafeteria in elementary school) which I learned is homemade ketchup. Not sure of the advantage of homemade ketchup vs. bottled Heinz ketchup. And I thought it was weird. What if I wanted more? I have to bother my server for more ketchup? Anyhow, seemed like a nice place with some strange quirks that I don't know if I'd visit again. At just short of $15 for a burger, fries and a soda for lunch (hate to see the price on that for dinner), I'm not sure I'll be back. I mean, the Grandview area is full of a plethora of very nice restaurants (including one just a block away which in my mind is so much better in terms of the variety of offerings, price point, just as good quality or better, and other yummies) that this place just doesn't stand out enough for me to come back. Sorry guys. read more
