Here on a business trip and needed a good cut. I'm an old style barber guy who has a meticulous barber back home, so my expectations are very high. I was satisfied with the cut from CJ. She is meticulous and took her time. Prob 25 min total. Electric clippers #3 on side, blended with scissors and thinning shears toward the top. Hot lather straight-edge razor on back of neck, but not around ears. Then a hot towel on face, followed by shampoo and scalp massage, then back to chair for some gel and finished look for satisfaction. Would go back if I'm stuck here again and need a cut. Someone isn't listening... First time at this place. Sat down and April asked me how I'd like my hair cut. I said I'd like a 2 on the sides and do the best you can with what's left up top, as I'm thinning. She asked if my current state was pretty long for me, I said yes, as it had been about 2 months. She said, ok, I'll do a 2 down low, the a 3 from the ears up. ??? No, please, I said, I'd like a 2 up pretty high on the sides. April said, ok, I'll do a 2, then a 2-1/2, then a 3. ?!?!??! I removed the collar wrap and started to stand up. I said, it's obvious you're not listening, and I'm not willing to take chances. She said "I was just giving you options." Channeling my inner Buddha, I calmly said, No, you haven't listened at all. So I'm going to leave and wish you a nice day. With that I left. Walked in to Floyd's down the street, really cool receptionist squeezed me in for a great cut with Edward after waiting only 10 min, on a Saturday morning, no less. By the way, Knockouts didn't once answer their phone when I called over a dozen times at different times and days trying to get an appt. Marina refused to listen to me. I went here hoping they were knowledgeable in men's haircuts but both times I went here the stylist just wanted to do what they felt I should do and not listen to what I wanted and both times I felt like my long hair was a bother to them. That they just wanted to cut it short to look like what they think a guy's hair should look like. When I called back to talk to Marina she refused to listen to me once again and just kept cutting me off to keep trying to convince me she was listening to me which was the exact problem I had with her. I wish I would have read the reviews, she is not professional in my opinion and I would not recommend this place. Or at least don't have high expectations if you do go. read more

I just moved to the area and thought I'd give Knockouts a try after reading the reviews and boy am I glad did! I was lucky again when I selected April as my stylist. I went with the 'Heavyweight' and it's worth every penny. In addition to a great cut from an experienced and friendly professional, you get your neck shaved with hot lather and then it's over to the sink where you get a hot towel and shampoo with head massage. It is absolutely amazing! Then finished off with a light application of product and you're good to go. I won't go anywhere else. I present a bit of a challenge because I'm presently in an electric wheelchair but April accommodates me. Do yoursel a favor and indulge yourself and get a great haircut here. read more

Dropped in for a head shave/beard trim. The place wasn't busy, so I rolled the dice. It was clean, and the music wasn't obtrusive, so I settled in. What went well: My stylist was nice and personable without having to fill the entire time with conversation, which I think is nice. She asked what kind of cut I was after, looked at the photo I'd offered as an example, and made sure I was comfortable. She was also very considerate around my head with the straight razor. After shaving my head, she gave me a shampoo - which I initially thought was odd but actually really appreciated. The tea tree oil shampoo cooled my head before heading back out into 95 degree heat. 3 stars for cleanliness and consideration - could have paid more attention to what I said I wanted done with my beard, but that's as much on me as the stylist. (At least my wife will be happy it's short.) What went wrong: I had a little more taken off of my beard than I would want, but that's as much my fault as it is the stylist's. No real knock there. However, she was almost TOO cautious shaving my head; I had to clean up quite a few patches when I got home. Also, after trimming my beard she should have shaved my neck. All told, it was a passable job... ...except for the price! 40 dollars? Out. Rageous. This might be the going rate for having this kind of work done, but it needs to be pretty good for me to consider paying that for something I or my wife can do at home. Especially when I need to finish the job later. As anyone who rocks a shaved head regularly can tell you, the only thing worse than someone overconfident with the razor is someone underconfident with the razor. I get the impression she hasn't shaved many heads. 1 star for poor value & questionable execution. Overall, I can't say I was terribly displeased with the job the stylist did, and she didn't set the prices anyway. But I'll shop around before my next session. The Art of Shaving in Park Meadows is a lot more expensive, but a much more thorough job, and even the Floyd's locations I've been to in several states are superior. Can't say I'll never go back, but can't say I'll rush in next month either. read more

They gave me some random person (that I think was actually the manager) and she acted like she didn't give 2 craps about my haircut, my style, or anything about me. If I could, I'd give a 0 star rating. I got bit in the calf by the managers dog while going to set my stuff down by the coat rack. I broke my back in high school and have a lot of nerve pain in my legs, so it caused me more pain than it would for the "normal" person. After getting bit by the dog, I reacted in a way I feel most people would and screamed and cursed, and because of that I got nasty glares from the manager the entire time I got my hair cut. The next day I asked to speak with the owner, and when I got a hold of the owner he then went on to make me the villain for complaining about the situation because he said she was a "woman". He then told me that he hopes I re-evaluate the way I treat women and tried to minimize the fact that the dog bit me in the first place. I'm sorry, if your dog bites me a paying customer.....I'm gonna react negatively whether your a man or a woman! I'm not paying $40 to get a haircut and then get bit by your dog and be happy about it! Two 'must-dos'; (1) Call ahead and (2) ask for Erin. Been going there for about a year now, and always leave with a good cut. It is also nice seeing the same stylist, cause you don't have to 'explain' every time what want. Worst place I've been to! Stylist kept thumping the back of my head with her hand.... I'm sure to remove extra hair but after the thousandth time and she continued to do it after i told her to stop it! She jabbed the razor into the side of my head! Then she couldn't fade my hair even after I specifically asked if she could fade! Her supervisor ended up saving the day and they advertise all these tv's and 98% of the time she had me pointed in a direction where I couldn't see the damn thing! OK Let me address one thing first, for the most part the girls are nice, the haircuts are decent but beware if the manager/owner dude is around! Typically I get my haircut here to relax and get away from daily grind. But during my haircut the man who I assume was the manager or owner started getting into a yelling match with one of the girls right in front of me! Who does that?! I must say I have noticed the girls tense up any time he is around during my regular haircut and now I know why! This has completely ruined the experience for me and sadly won't be coming back. I would have expected a much more professional mannerism from a man who owns one of my former favorite barber shops.
