Last evening, my girlfriend and I visited The Weird Sister to celebrate her performance of The…read moreNutcracker--this was our third time at the bar, and we had returned because we had enjoyed previous visits, largely due to the great service we received from a bartender with a memorable personality. Unfortunately, he was not on duty last night. I arrived about 15 minutes before my girlfriend and sat at the bar. The bartender on duty greeted me with, "What can I get you, bossman?" I politely asked if I could have a minute to think about my order. A minute later, he asked again, "Whatcha gonna have, bossman?" I ordered a beer, and a few minutes later, after taking only one sip, he asked, "Ready for another one, bossman?" At this point, I kindly replied, "No, thank you. I'm still working on this one and waiting for my girlfriend." I then said, "Sir, I'm not your boss. Please don't call me 'bossman.'" He responded with, "I'm just trying to help you." I gently told him, "Thank you, but I'm fine." At that moment, it seemed like the bartender was upset by my request, and I explained that being called "bossman" made me uncomfortable. He didn't apologize, just walked away and sat at a table elsewhere in the venue. Shortly after, a female bartender replaced him. I had no interaction with her until my girlfriend arrived. She placed her order, and we chatted for a while. About 20 minutes later, we ordered food, and I asked the bartender a question about the menu, which she answered. We decided on a pizza. When the pizza arrived, my girlfriend ordered another drink. We finished the pizza, and when she finished her second drink, I asked for the check. The female bartender brought the bill, and I signed it with a tip. I thanked her for her service, and we got up to leave. As we were heading out, she followed us, which struck me as odd. She then told me I had a bad attitude toward the male bartender and was no longer welcome at The Weird Sister. I was stunned. I asked her to clarify, and she explained that she had watched our interaction on video and believed I had been rude. I explained that I was uncomfortable being called "bossman," but she defended the bartender, telling me that it was a common expression at the bar and showing no empathy for how I felt. She then told me, "We don't want your business. Don't come back." I was shocked by her dismissiveness and lack of respect. As a customer, I felt belittled and shamed for expressing a simple concern. It's an experience I'll never forget, and I feel compelled to share it because of how poorly I was treated. I won't be returning to The Weird Sister. I want others to understand that, despite previous positive experiences, this visit left me with a lasting impression of a place where customer concerns aren't valued and respect is in short supply.

Similar to other recently opened venues that serve beer on tap and feature both indoor and outdoor spaces, there is something available for all ages in your party. Though parking is free in their lot, it does quickly fill up as the evening progresses. Our friends had reserved a few tables outside, but it also turned out to be the coldest day of the year, so we ended up settling inside. We sampled sliders, hot dogs, flat breads, pizza, pretzels, nachos, and chicken lollipops, which were served in metal catering trays along a long table. All the food items that were ordered were good. We did not order anything to drink, but the servers did a great job of coming by our tables to see if we needed anything throughout the evening, and he had quite a large party. The outdoor space is pretty large, with open areas of turf for lawn games and kids to run around. There is also ample outdoor seating, with a few food trucks along the outer part of the venue. Not sure if these are left out year-round, but they had these fire pit space heater/light sources between the tables that provided a nice touch to the outdoor space, especially as the evening grew darker. Although we don't live nearby, this was a great spot to celebrate a birthday, hang out with friends, date night, etc. I definitely recommend this place if you live on this side of town.

The atmosphere is really great & with inside, outside, & lounge seating, they have a vibe for everyone. - Inside is a large open area and the beers bar is located there. - Outside you have covered & uncovered seating and both areas lend themselves to a large group/party. Also there is an artificial grass open area which is setup for a great space for the kids to play. - The lounge is where the cocktail bartenders are located and is an inside, chill adult vibe. You order your beer or cocktails at the respective bars and then take your drink to your preferred inside, outside or lounge seating. If you order food at the bar, they give you a number & the food will be brought out to you. I was thoroughly impressed with the place, the concept. I hung out in the lounge so I can only speak about that service. All the bartenders were super friendly. They quickly acknowledged patrons as they approached the bar. Shout out to bartender, Rojas. He gave great drink recommendations based on sharing your preferences and was also great to talk to. I didn't have any food because they were out of chicken sliders & chicken lollipops. It was a Saturday late afternoon. On my way out I saw 2 food trucks on property by the patio area where u can order food. I highly, highly recommend trying this place! My experience was 4.5 stars, leaning toward 5. I will definitely return & may have to upgrade my rating after I eat & get one more experience here.

For drinks, we got the Situationship, Lychee Lemon Drop, Smooth Operator, and Blue Tile IPA. All the cocktails were very tasty and perfectly balanced. I would 100% recommend Plume for events or a night out, and we will definitely be back!

First, the vibe. It is warm, stylish, and very Montrose in the best way. It feels elevated but still relaxed enough to just sit, talk, and enjoy your time without feeling rushed. We came during happy hour and it was such a great deal. I ordered the Sweet Like Peach Tree, which was light, refreshing, and perfectly balanced with the peach and ginger. My husband got the Frozen Paloma and it was just as good, super smooth with the right citrus bite. We also shared the churros and they were honestly a must order. Warm, crispy, and paired with Nutella and caramel. What really made the experience stand out though was our bartender, Manny. He was incredibly welcoming from the moment we sat down, had such a great personality, and made the whole experience feel personal. You can tell he genuinely enjoys what he does, and that kind of service is hard to find. He also told us about their upcoming two year anniversary party on May 3rd with rotating live DJs, which sounds like it will be such a fun time. We will definitely be back. The Oaxaca Old Fashioned was also a unique take on the classic with mezcal and amaro. It got a little bitter for my taste, but those who enjoy a Negroni will love it.

Shout out to Isabella she was so sweet and helpful with ordering and made some pretty solid drinks. On Sunday they do have a limited menu for a bit for Sunday brunch just a warning. But they were sweet and accommodated us on a couple items we wanted to try. I tried the blood mary it was pretty good and spicy just wish it had a bit more tomato in it. We ordered the chips and queso, hot chicken sandwich, chicken quesadilla, and birria breakfast (don't judge we were hungry). Chips and queso were pretty solid might not add the onions on top next time but you also get plenty of chips. The hot chicken sandwich was just okay for me it was a little overfried/burnt but I still chowed down. Only other thing is I would like more sauce but you know those are little things. Chicken quesadilla was loaded with chicken and cheese so you get your money worth. My significant other was in love with the birria breakfast. The meat was so tender potatoes delicous and the flavors amazing. He did say it was some of the best birria meat he has had in a long time. Looking forward to coming back!

Even this time the GPS took us to an entrance that had us going the wrong way down a one-way, but we eventually figured it out I will say that the parking isn't all that great, but we were able to find a spot. If the parking lot is full you should be able to find street parking nearby Kanpai Club is a sister location to Handos. They share a kitchen and you can walk through an inside door access either. You can find the same cocktails and bites from Handos on the Kanpai menu, but there's also additional drinks and bites The bar feels like a Japanese Izakaya. It's a narrow space resembling a Japanese outdoor bar. It's intimately lit and well decorated. We did have to wait for two spots to open up, but that didn't take too long The bartenders were friendly, professional, and efficient. We went on a Friday night (fairly late), and they had two dedicated bartenders The cocktails were fun and were beautifully crafted. Most were served in novelty glassware. You can order classic cocktails, but both Kanpai and Hando offer a variety of signature cocktails. Most having some sort of Japanese or Asian fusion. They have beer, wine, and extensive sake list, as well as green tea and other nonalcoholic options The cocktails were tasty. The only one I was iffy on was their Espresso martini. It was poured from a machine and I guess there were having issues with it. The presentation was phenomenal. There was a roasted marshmallow garnish. The drink itself was far too Smokey in flavor than I like, or at least in terms of my espresso martinis The Yuzu Kosho fries were incredible. The flavors really hit the spot. The Okinawa Potato salad was both questionable to looks and and to eat lol. This purple mound of potato's had an interesting taste, look, and consistency. It wasn't bad, just... interesting and new Some tips: If you can't find this spot from the street, look for Handos. It's part of this restaurant Ask the bartender about the happy hour menu. And most nights they're open until 12am, but on Fridays and Saturdays they are open until 2am If you order food online (technically from Hando's) you can get 10% off using code: HANDO10. This is part of their "Hando and Chill" special Cheers!!
