I've lived in Utah twice for a total of 8+ years, and I don't know why I never tried Kneaders until recently since it seems like such a popular place. This review is just from my one experience and we visited for lunch. The good thing going for it is the nice variety of options and the portion sizes are quite large. Everything seems fresh and there were a lot of items that sounded good that I didn't try. This location is quite large with plenty of seating, but I wasn't impressed with the ordering process and how long it took people to simply place their order. And then it was over 15 minutes from the time we ordered until our food finally arrived. Maybe that's just normal for this place? Just not what I would expect from a "fast-casual" type of set-up. All of the food in our group was tasty. The salad was fresh and was a large portion. The kids meal was adequate and the fancy sugar cookie was definitely appreciated. The sandwich I ordered is the only thing I'm torn on...I ordered the "Portabella Grille Ciabatta", and while the flavor of it was great and it was a huge sandwich, I found only 2-3 small pieces of portabella mushrooms. It was full of zucchini, onions, and a few red peppers, but almost no mushrooms. Disappointing considering the name of the sandwich. I love Kneaders more every time I go. My favorite use to be the Turkey Bacon Avacado on Focaccia. Now I get the Veggie Avocado. Basically the same, no meat. I would get it with a side of soup. You really can't go wrong with any soup tomato basil with ravioli, loaded potato, chicken noodle, creamy broccoli, poblano, etc. Every soup is great. My favorite desserts were the chocolate mousse dome, berry cheesecake, lime tart, any brownie. Breakfast : all you can eat chunky cinnamon French toast. You will not be disappointed. So basically the whole menu. This is not the kind of place you order the same thing every time because it is the only thing you like, this is really good food! I wish I could sign up for a "meal plan" like in college and just eat here every meal. Lol. One last note, take home a loaf of bread to tide you over between visits. :) I almost forgot, my kids love the kids meals and cool toys they actually play with, and are clever, not just a plastic figure from the latest movie. read more

Sandwiches are delish. Desserts are just 'OK' - overpriced. Recently ordered some of their carrot cake desserts and they were horrible! Saturated with baking soda and salt. I usually love Kneaders, but lately they've just been toying with my heart. The last time I got a salad it had an avocado stem and a random cranberry in it (not a big deal, just annoying). Today I got a salad that had a tomato that hadn't been washed and was covered in dirt. I had mixed up the salad before I noticed and essentially had mud as my salad dressing (they also gave me the wrong dressing in the first place). 10/10 not pleased. Get wrecked boiiiii! read more

Love this place! We've been going there for years. It's our family's favorite dessert place and also our favorite sandwich place. Everything is great, but raspberry bread pudding with vanilla sauce is our favorite dessert. The turkey bacon avocado on foccacia is our favorite sandwich. Nothing special here. It has all the elements of an authentic bakery/deli but the food changes things. For instance, I ordered a chocolate and a raspberry croissant but got, instead, a sweet roll dough wrapped with a couple layers of flacky croissant dough. Not buttery, flaky croissant dought through and through but a cheap knock-off that was disguised to look authentic. It's like the bagels I find in so many places in the state. Bread with holes in it. Not bagel dough, boiled in water then baked to give it the traditonal "chew" of an authentic bagel. Just a cheap (in terms of effort) knock-off of what should be a unique treat...a bagel! I remember this place being better when we were here last, 2 years ago? Service, or rather politeness, seemed forced. They messed up one of our orders and the sandwich that did come out had black basil on it and weirdly thin, bland chicken. Pastries were okay but nothing to write home about. Coke tasted flat and strange. My soup was salty and barely hot. The only reason for two stars is that it was decorated very cute for the holidays and it appeared as though many of my family members liked their food. Not loved, mind you, but ate their food. This is our go to quick service restaurant. We've eaten here about once or twice every other week over the last several years. The sandwiches, soups and salads are delicious and are very reasonably priced for the portions you receive. I think the reason they are so good is that they started as a hearth bakery and the focus has always been on having exceptional bread. We purchase their breads to go for home use and they are superior to anything you'd find in a grocery store. They used to be located nearby but have since relocated. In their old location parking and the drive through were a nightmare, but we put up with it because the food was so good. Their new location is well designed and has ample parking. The only thing worth the money here is their all you can eat French toast. Today we came here on pie day because they advertised .99 cent pie... So we waited in the drive thru "which is one of the slowest drive thrus I've ever been in" by the time we finally were able to order we find out that the pie is only .99 with a purchase of an entree "which was not advertised any where" So we were faced with 3 options. 1 pay full price for a little piece of pie which is $3. 2 buy an entree but we weren't hungry. 3 wait in the the drive thru which is crawling along until we can get out. We chose option 1, received our over priced pie and got out of the drive thru 25 min later. Lessons learned don't believe anything on their billboard, don't use the drive thru, only order the French toast. read more

I love Kneaders Bakery and Cafe - but for the past 3 Tuesdays, I have stopped by late afternoon to bring dinner home for my family and each time I received the wrong order. Last Tuesday around 4pm, I went through the drive through and they gave me someone else's order. I noticed right away and was able to get it corrected, but they had to make all my food over again since the car in front of me got my order. Not only did I have a long wait, the tuna sandwich panni style was barely toasted and the tuna inside was cold. Today, I went through the drive through (again around 4pm) and ordered 5 difference sandwiches, a variety of cookies and a pint of soup. One sandwich was a turkey artichoke panni that was cold when I got home (just 4 minutes from Kneaders), the bread around the edges were too hard to eat and the middle of the sandwich was too soggy to enjoy. Another sandwich was made with the wrong bread and had onions on it, even though I ordered it correctly and the order was correct on the receipt. Plus, I was shorted one cookie. I am just so disappointed in the service and quality lately. read more

I work in customer service as a manager. I have regular interactions with the owner (an older gentlemen) of this location. As the owner of a popular and successful business, I think common courtesy and sense says that it may be beneficial to be friendly in any interactions with people in the community who give you business. I told the owner that I frequent his business and am a devoted fan and customer. His reaction was very rude, cold, and unfriendly, when I was nothing but nice to him. I wouldn't write a review if it was a one time occurrence, but I've heard through many others that this is his normal interaction with people and that he's offended many. This left a bad taste in my mouth that caused me to reexamine my devotion to my one time favorite cafe/bakery. I no longer want to give such an owner any more of my business and money. The word is being spread and I am not alone in my experience or opinion. I would say go to another location with different owners or go to zupas they have Far superior soup, sandwiches, and service. read more

Take it from me, Kneaders is not the place to go for a fresh turkey sandwich and pastries. I've seen the best of Kneaders and the worst of Kneaders having worked here 15 years ago. The pink gelatinous mess they call fresh pulled turkey isn't even freshly made on site any more. I used to pull their fresh roasted turkeys in the morning and the stuff they sell now isn't even close. When I called the manager to ask how they prepare their turkey he confirmed that they get their turkeys pre-made from a food service company. When I asked why it often has some sort of slime on it, he said sometimes there's some preservative gel left on it when they "pull" it in the morning. He justified it by saying the gel helps it stay fresh. I asked how they get their cookies. He said they come as pre-frozen dough from Otis Spunkmeyer and they just bake them there. So if you want something "fresh" that they got out of the freezer this morning like every other bakery/deli then waste the extra money you'll pay at Kneaders. If you don't want to take my word for it, ask the manager. Or better yet just look at the color of the turkey when you bite into their sandwich. The last time I had real turkey breast that is cooked completely it was white, not pink. Totally over priced for the lack of quality. The only redeeming quality is their bread. read more

WOW! Stopped in to get drinks and treats while I was in town. Watched the girl getting my order ready...grabbing the treats with her dirty 'gloved' hand that she just took cash with, at the window?!? Shouldn't she change her gloves to handle the food, since she is also working the register and handling cash and credit cards? I ask you...is this sanitary?!? I then watched her grab a prepared (bottom torn off) straw...only to grab the exposed part on the bottom with her other dirty 'ungloved' hand before putting it down inside my drink. Gross! Does anyone remember what they learned in food handlers' class? And where are the managers while this is going on? I can tell you...they were all chatting with each other! The person taking money at the window should not be the same person putting the lids on drinks, handling exposed straws and grabbing food with the same hands they are handling cash and credit cards with. UNLESS they change their gloves with EVERY customer AFTER taking payment! Seriously?!?!? This is basic common sense stuff.... Imagine the things going on that we can't see happening from the drive-thru. read more
