She relocated her shop here a little over 2 months ago and has a spot that takes up the corner. When we walked in, we were immediately greeted by Kelly. She offers a variety of fruit and cream pies, tarts, cake loafs, and rolls--as well as savory pies too. Right away, I noticed how big and heavy the pies were and for $25 bucks each, that's a great deal for something homemade! We went with a whole lemon cream pie and two mini chocolate cream pies. The mini pies are $5 bucks each and pretty big too. On my way out, I decided to pre-order a Dutch Apple pie to pick up next week for Thanksgiving. The lemon cream pie was fantastic. Great lemon taste and it didn't have that sour tangy tart after taste either. What I particularly like about this lemon pie is that the topping was a whipped cream vs meringue--not everyone is a meringue fan, so the cream topping you really can't go wrong with. This pie was hefty and I loved how there was so much filling vs cream ratio. Pie crust was cooked through and had a nice crumble and flake to it. The chocolate cream pie is good if you like that lighter chocolate taste vs the dark rich chocolate taste. It had more of a silky chocolate flavor and was smooth. The pie was beautiful - bright lemon cream topped by delicate pink raspberry mousse garnished with fresh raspberries. The problem came when I served the pie. Even though I kept it refrigerated, the cream and mousse didn't set properly so the "slices" were runny messes. The crust was also so hard it was difficult to cut - I had to get out my heavy duty carving knife. The flavors of the filling and crust were quite delicious, but I expected a sliceable pie for the money I spent.

She gave me the run-down of all the pies and I settled on the summer special with coconut and passion fruit and some other fruit in it. We absolutely love this place and believe they make the best donuts. We have been buying donuts…read morehere for many years and have always considered it something special. Over the past couple of years, though, we have noticed the level of service decline as the hours have expanded. While I appreciate the additional hours, I am not sure the staff feel the same way. I understand there will always be turnover and new employees, but it feels like some of what made this place special has been lost. Today we called ahead to place an order for a couple dozen donuts. We were on hold for about five minutes, and when placing the order, I had to repeat myself several times after almost every donut. We let them know we would be there in about two hours. When we arrived, the donuts had not been boxed yet. I mentioned that we had placed the order a couple of hours earlier and received a quick, somewhat snappy "OK" in response. It just didn't feel great. When we got home, we realized several of the donuts were not what we ordered. Nothing was mentioned when we picked them up about being out of anything. I assume some of the donuts we ordered may have sold out during those two hours, which is also why I wish the order had been boxed when we called. Had someone simply apologized and said, "We're sorry, we ran out of a few of the donuts you ordered," I would have been completely fine with it. I understand that people get busy and things happen. But you are never too busy to provide good service. We still love the donuts and want this place to be great. I just hope they can get back to the level of service that made us such loyal customers for so many years.
