The shop has these large sliding doors that open the area to the outside, so it feels like the entire place is under a covered patio. There is plenty of seating both inside and outside. I love their variety of food, which includes sandwiches, pastries, and a great variety of macarons. If you love lattes with flavor, they have a wonderful variety of flavors as well. My go to was the latte with mocha and hazelnut flavor. Sandwiches were delightful too. They can serve it to you warm or cold. Their ceramic mugs, plates, and silverware were super cute. She relocated her shop here a little over 2 months ago and has a spot that takes up the corner. When we walked in, we were immediately greeted by Kelly. She offers a variety of fruit and cream pies, tarts, cake loafs, and rolls--as well as savory pies too. Right away, I noticed how big and heavy the pies were and for $25 bucks each, that's a great deal for something homemade! We went with a whole lemon cream pie and two mini chocolate cream pies. The mini pies are $5 bucks each and pretty big too. On my way out, I decided to pre-order a Dutch Apple pie to pick up next week for Thanksgiving. The lemon cream pie was fantastic. Great lemon taste and it didn't have that sour tangy tart after taste either. What I particularly like about this lemon pie is that the topping was a whipped cream vs meringue--not everyone is a meringue fan, so the cream topping you really can't go wrong with. This pie was hefty and I loved how there was so much filling vs cream ratio. Pie crust was cooked through and had a nice crumble and flake to it. The chocolate cream pie is good if you like that lighter chocolate taste vs the dark rich chocolate taste. It had more of a silky chocolate flavor and was smooth. In general they were good. I guess a more European take on a pastry. Not as sweet and probably better ingredients. They all ate a bit dry though. Not sure if this is by intent. It was good. But at $5-$6 a doughnut it should be dreamy I think. Would I go back. Maybe. I probably would prefer a maple bar from doughnut parade or fluffies or such. The Grain Shed does a farm to table model and is a bakery and brewery. I got a snack here along with a beer and left quite satisfied. I got a Grilled Cheese Sandwich on some of their house made bread with some Cheddar, Swiss and Provolone cheese. The exact name for this sandwich is the Cheesy Toastie. And of course moving on to the beer... the primary motivator to come here. I got the Kölsch beer here called Field Trip. I do love a good Kölsch as they are nice, light bodied beers. And they are especially nice in the summertime. Flavor features in this beer is maltiness, breadiness, a bit of hoppiness and a dry finish. Another beer that Steve and I tried was the INWPA which was a Pale Ale. It was also a nice light bodied beer which again hit the spot despite it being a different drinking session. Flavor characteristics in this beer is citrus, a yeastiness, hoppiness and a biscuity trait. Good beers and sandwiches and we are aiming for a return whenever we are in Spokane again.
