Put My Stupid Thing Together - The only problem with an upside down drawer is gravity.

Very professional…read more I hired him to put together a baker's rack purchased from Amazon. Negotiating the time and price was easy, and the price was reasonable. Then he came when he said he would, did what he said he would while I worked from home upstairs. Took a little longer than expected, but in the bounds of a reasonable estimate, and no upcharge. All in all, I'm very satisfied, and would hire again for similar sized jobs.

We hired them to assemble a sewing cutting table and Reese and his helper were clearly out of their…read moreleague. After talking to the manufacturer we have now realized they installed the two panels that form the side of the drawers upside down. In hindsight, you'd think the fact that the top drawer would only fit in upside down would have been their first clue. They actually left that drawer in the cabinet like that, the other three drawers on the floor because they're unable to be inserted. Instead of realizing their mistake they just tried to get the drawers to fit, damaging all of the drawer runners in the process. So now we have to pay for new drawer runners and for someone knowledgeable to disassemble the entire table, install the new runners, reverse those two panels, and then reassemble the entire table properly. They were also extremely unprofessional, both swearing like truck drivers downstairs while we had guests, rather than telling us they were running into problems with the assembly. Maybe they could handle a simple piece of IKEA furniture, but DO NOT let them touch any expensive pieces!

I contacted Fixer last Wednesday to see if they could take on a small task that just required…read moresupporting a couple of bolts on the hinge of my fence. When I called, the representative couldn't quite understand the scope of my project, so he decided it would be best to schedule a consultation. I explained I only wanted a consultation if the project could be completed that same day. He said it shouldn't be a problem. He confirmed the cost would be $139 at time of consultation and that would be applied toward the total project of hired, also that would be the hourly rate. Knowing there's no way that project would be more than an hour. I was desperate and needing it to be done ASAP and so I agreed. My scheduled time came and went and then I received a notice that my appointment was rescheduled to the following day and they would Credit $15 toward the cost of the consultation. I reached back out and again reinforce that I wanted to cancel unless the project could be completed on the same day. Again was told it should not be a problem. Nino came out the next day. He was very professional, and nice. He explained he couldn't do the project the same day because he hadn't been booked for it, and even if he had, it was too cold for him to make the repair. This was a blessing in disguise. I paid the consultation fee, and later got the estimate and was in shock - the total for this project was nearly $300. I had no idea they were going to charge $89 for their handy person to walk into a hardware store, on top of charging $50 (+20% upcharge) for parts which was a couple pieces of wood and a couple of bolts and the hourly rate. My dad made the repair today in less than 30 mins with a drill and two bolts. He also used a saw to level out the bottom of the fence as Nino had also offered to do. I just can't believe the cost, it's outrageous. I would not recommend this company based on cost and also the administrative to field miscommunication.

Three quotes for $365 total for my projects. Fixer estimates approx 3x that. No thanks. Aside from…read morebeing responsive to my questions, this pricing is absurd.
