Once Eric (and Fred) found out about the communication issue, Eric took over and ALL of the issues were quickly resolved and I had my boat back within a few days. Eric even provided some financial credit back to me due to the problems I had encountered. Sometimes in life you run across a person who creates problems with communication and follow-through; that's life. But the way Eric took over and solved all of the issues (and within my stated budget) was remarkable! That's the kind of business I want to work with... They couldn't have been nicer they offered us some delicious sailors coffee and donuts! This was my first time visiting a yacht club and looking into buying a boat! So they told us about the process of becoming members buying a sail boat and renting a slip! I was very surprised by the cost to become a member! Richard showed us his sail boat that he had for sale! It was very nice and my first experience checking out a sail boat! Thank you all for your kindness and hospitality! Instead of taking responsibility for giving us damaged equipment, they blamed us and tried to charge us for it. They first demanded $230, and only after we argued with them did they suddenly lower the charge to $170, which makes no sense if we were actually responsible. I would not recommend renting from this place. Poor customer service, damaged equipment, and unfair charges. Save your money and go somewhere else.

Luis is a master mechanic. He's easy to work with and he is most professional. In the end, he had to pull the engine and I was impressed with how carefully he did that. He really knows his trade. Alison cares about clients and replies to your call, email or text in a timely manner. So, you don't have to wait long to hear back from them. In addition to being a great company they are affordable. They don't up sell and when they are there they check out the whole engine, not just what you asked them to look at. I authorized the work and was later informed that the outdrive needed to be repaired or replaced. I was given an estimate and authorized the work. When I got the boat back, I put it in the water and it ran great. When I came out in the morning the boat was half underwater. I got it bailed out and back on the trailer. The boat never leaked so when I confronted Luis I was told that it was nothing that he had done to cause the leak even though the leak was around the outdrive. I was told that it was no big deal because the boat had a bilge pump and was designed to live on a trailer. When I went to start it a short time later the starter just clicked. My guess is that the starter went underwater and is now siezed. I was never told about the leak and now I am stuck with a boat that I can't use or sell. I have had no response from Bay Area so I am in the process of taking them to small claims court. Stay clear of these guys.

We sailed out of Sausalito floating across the Bay. We went under the Golden Gate Bridge and around Alcatraz and Angel Island. The weather couldn't have been more perfect, and the views were absolutely beautiful!! One of my favorite parts was seeing SF from the water. The city, the Golden Gate, and the Bay Bridge all looked so tiny and beautiful in the distance. It was so fun waving to people on the shore and having people on the other boats wave back to us. It was just such a happy, fun, and delightful experience!! The crew was incredibly kind, welcoming, and accommodating, which made the whole trip even better! We were lucky enough to join Wendy from Somatic Ecotherapy, and I'm so glad we got the opportunity to experience SF this way. By the end of the trip, my cheeks literally hurt from smiling so much!! It was just a genuinely delightful few hours, and I would absolutely recommend Captain Kirk's to anyone looking for a fun and memorable way to experience the Bay. I will happily do this again!

We saw that they opened at 8AM on Saturday so called a little after 7 and left a message about our interest in the boat, by 8:30 we hadn't heard anything and called multiple times to all the numbers listed on their website. After not hearing back we decided to make the 2 hour drive out to the shop since we were serious buyers. Had cash in hand and everything. After viewing their website we thought it was like any other boat shop, instead it ended up being a shack at the dock. We called several times before arriving and not a single call back. After arriving we kept calling still no answer. Finally left, after 20 minutes back on the road the owner calls, we state how unhappy we were to drive all that way and not a single person was there nor did they answer any calls, his excuse was that they don't open until noon. When I pointed out that their website posts 8am and the sign on the door stated 8am he questioned me like he didn't even know what time they opened. How do you own a company, publish your hours and not even know what time you're open? I just hung up on him. A few minutes later his son calls, again stating they don't open until noon, then has the nerve to say we should call first. Well buddy, we did. Both to the landline and the two cell numbers posted on their site! We ask about the boat we saw advertised and he tells us then that it had been sold over a week and a half ago. What kind of business are they running? Post hours they don't know about, won't answer any of their four numbers listed, then leaves a boat sold on not just their site but another site as well? So not professional!!

Bobby the mechanic was great, and managed to clean the oilpan of debris without having to lift the engine. Also got the fuel injectors serviced, new prop shaft, balanced the prop etc etc. Everything went great. Clint the electrician and woodworker fix up some of the shady electrical systems from the previous owner and replace with a proper switch, nicely installed and also fixed the engine instruments. Excellent work. Alex was our project manager. He consistently kept us updated on what was happening, what new things had come up, our options etc. There's an excellent store onsite for everything DIY while there. All in all the work was on time, went well and everything was great.

It's a boat, so there were a few last minute surprises but KKMI managed them well, making sure I did not miss my departure window.
