While I still have my boat on the hard, I really want to give a review for Vee Jay's. I bought a 1976 Challenger 32 into their yard for a bottom job and engine work, as the boat was new to me and I wanted to be sure these two items were the first things completed on the to do list. Arturo, Christina and the crew have taken great care of my baby. Knowing I had a strict budget, the folks at this yard worked with me so that I could have her dialed in for this coming racing season while knowing she was also safe. This included installing new plumbing, replacing a very worn stuffing box, new bilge pump and topsides. After discussing with them the cost of having the work done over time with multiple haul outs we worked out a schedule to have the work done as I could afford it, without incurring a ton of lay days while waiting. Dollar for dollar this worked out great for me. THANK YOU!! I was hesitant, always having boats hauled by bigger names in the Bay, but our boat is at the Pittsburg Marina, so it was a matter of convenience as well. Arturo himself walked me through every phase, showing me what his team found and offering solutions that would fit my budget. I trust his work and his word. Playing dumb a few times, (I have been sailing 40+ years) I asked him to explain things and he was all about boiling it down so that even a new sailor could understand. If you want integrity, honesty and the feeling you are working with a good friend, this is the place to go. Oh and when I went to check how much water she took on after the storms, I found the bow of my boat lifted on the stand just enough to make sure any water that made its way inside didn't sit there for long. THAT IS A YARD THAT TAKES CARE OF YOU! Thanks again everyone there, you will always be my go to for any project that comes up in the future.

Frank and Vince are here because they love their customers and jobs. 1st time here and I can say I was impressed with the attention they gave me. I was in the process of buying my 1st boat, didn't know what to look for. The shop was booked and he wouldn't be able to get to it for a month or so. I wanted them to give it an inspection before purchase and establish some routine maintenance. He agreed if I left it he could check the compression and go from there. 2 days latter he called me back they were able to do the inspection told me the boat was in great condition and gave me an estimate for the maintenance I wanted done and preventative items and suggestions. Before I knew it I had bought a boat. Vee Jay was able to get my boat fixed and ready before Memorial Day weekend a whole 2 weeks early. She runs like a champ. Hope I won't go back any time soon but when I do need too I know where I am going without a doubt. So far this summer put about 30 hours on her. Thank you Frank and Vince.

Bad fix. This is what VJ installed as a fix for a leak in my boat. The fix still leaked.

Bad fix in water pipes. I asked if they would stand behind their repair work and they said "yes". I never heard back from them. I called several times and emailed. If I got them on the phone they would say, "We are really busy." They charged me for replacement Genset battery and claimed it was two years old. I showed them receipt from previous year they had installed it. Vince was nice and said "no problem". He would credit it back. Never received credit. Neighbors who have had work done there since report they are really busy and one guy reported it took 4 months to get his repair done. They just jump from one project to another. Frank, reportedly, is retired and doesn't even work there any more. Called and asked for estimate on bottom paint and they said they were busy and hung up.

*Great & Amazing Experience, I will come again sometime*…read more This was my first time choosing to rent from this company. I was worried that I had to rent a U-Haul pickup truck to tow their equipment. No Worries!! After making a reservation online, you show up on time. Time is important, it was quite a drive and I was 30 minutes late to my reservation. It was all good, I made it on time to enjoy the jet skis! Upon arrival, a person will brief you everything. Once completed, you follow the person towing your rental to the launch gate. Parking is $20, cash only! From there, you will enjoy your rental! Despite my experience, I did ran through a problem during my rental. I followed their rules and yet I got a warning light. Called the phone number they have given me, luckily I was with a buddy. They sent guys out to tow the jet ski, thank you! After we got back, no problems or damages were found on both jet skis. Small issue was oil overfill during the time the jet ski went through maintenance. It was understandable but I was given $25 for my next rental and refund back. We've taken it with care and hope someday to return to have fun!! S/O to the staff, thank you once again :)

The security gate is constantly broken, the docks are filthy, parking areas are littered with leaves and trash, and weeds are severely overgrown. There are abandoned boats with trash piled on top of them, and garbage stacked along dock walls -- it's honestly unacceptable. Despite numerous complaints, we're always told that something will be done, that they're working with boat owners to clean up and register boats. But when we return, nothing has changed. There's been frequent turnover with the harbormaster, and each new person seems to care less than the last. The current harbormaster is especially rude and dismissive of concerns. Meanwhile, they continue to raise our fees every year with no improvements in return. We've stayed this long simply because the location is convenient for us -- but it's time for us to leave. Every year the conditions get worse. On our dock, only 5 or 6 boats remain, even though there's space for 20-30. That alone speaks volumes. We do NOT recommend renting a slip here.

The last time we rafted Middle Fork American was on a cold, gloomy, drizzling day in October 2019 - so we had to give it another go in warmer weather. This time around was just as memorable. Two of us in the boat ended up falling out in the water at Tunnel Chute, which happened so fast that I barely knew what had happened - thankfully, there was a nice calmer stretch of water right after through the river tunnel, so we were easily able to get back into the raft. (Thank you to our guide, Troy, for hauling me back in, and for being an awesome guide in general!) Plus this was one of the photographer spots, so the action was all captured for us to laugh about later. Later, after our tasty sandwich picnic lunch, we had a few unexpected events happen, starting from the portage down Ruck-a-Chucky Falls. Shout-out to all three guides in our group - Troy, Shea, and AJ - for handling things so calmly and getting us all back where we were supposed to be! We had plenty of calm stretches floating down the river as well. The canyon is beautiful and quite peaceful. We saw a ton of dragonflies flying above our heads, masked ducks chilling on rocks and diving underwater, and wild grapes and blackberries growing alongside the river. We'll be back again for another trip with All-Outdoors! Maybe we'll try a 2-day or 3-day trip next time.

In a nutshell, I needed an item that was to be ordered over the phone to be delivered to the store next day in Alameda. Because the item is in stock at their warehouse, it is possible to get it next day, however, you must order by 4pm the prior day. The person on the phone ( who I won't name or publicly shame) takes about 10 minutes to get all my information and proceeds to tell me that we missed the cutoff and would be delivered to the store on the 2nd day. I told him that I really needed it by the next day because I will be leaving on a trip on the 2nd day at 6am. He then asks me if I would be leaving at 6 in the morning or evening? Umm....last I checked AM means morning! He then tells me that the earliest would be the 2nd day since we missed the cutoff time to order. Frustrated at this point, I told him never mind and called back over to the Pittsburg/Antioch store. The very nice lady ( Michelle!! Thank you!!) apologized for the service I encountered, took my order and said it will be there ( in the Pittsburg store) the next day - usually late morning, early afternoon. Keep in mind that this is now about 10 minutes bast the 4pm cutoff time and she was still able to confirm it will be there. From her explanation, the warehouse makes all of these orders to their bay area locations daily so it could have made it to the Alameda store next day. You just have to ask the warehouse and driver to make it happen. I literally live 1 block away from the West Marine Alameda and would have liked to give them the business, being local and not having to drive up to Pittsburg/Antioch but hey, we do what we have to do. It just seemed to go against everything what customer support or customer success should be about. Pittsburg exemplified this, Alameda, not so much. Thank you Michelle and West Marine Pittsburg/Antioch!!!
