John is reliable, fairly priced and he's a good guy. I have known him for 35 years. You will not be sorry.

For those looking quickly (executive summary ;-) ) - Kai Kane / Stephen is *THE BEST!* Look no…read morefurther! My wife and I are new to the area and just bought a 2000 Super Air Nautique which started having issues after a few outings. We had a *BIG* family house warming party with boating in the plans and needed to have the boat up and running. Trying to get a shop to even give a straight answer as to when it could be diagnosed was proving darned near impossible with ghosting after scheduled appointments that were missed. Called Stephen - he offered to check it out. His knowledge is vast! He even said he'd have us on the water in time for the family party. Communications were STELLAR!!! He let us know what he found, what he intended on doing, the status, sending pics, when parts were ordered, then delivered, then test drive results, etc... Yes - he test drives it! We had our boat in ship-shape (sorry - pun intended) and pulling our family on rafts and wake boards just as he promised. Actually, Stephen really went above and beyond, and then... He even contacted us durning the weekend to check up on us and see how the boat was doing!!!! Are you kidding!? What amazing service and kind attention to your customers. Again - look no further! You will never find a marine mechanic this great. Oh, and by the way, he's a really nice person!!!

Oakley Sterndrive & Engine Repair - stuck impeller

It is an awesome boat but like many things toward the end of my friends life the boat was a bit neglected. Trim tan lines were rotten an need to be replaced. I called everywhere but no one had the lines in stock. I called Chad an not only did he have it, he also trouble shot a nagging problem I had with my outdrive an sold me a $14 spring that I used to fix it in less than 15 minutes! Great service by kind people. I'll definitely be back again

So I called Chad earlier this week to do a seawater impeller service on my Mercruiser alpha one gen…read moreone. He told me that appointments weren't available till late June. He had done it last May but it had already failed as boat wasn't cycling water and was overheating. So instead I asked if he had the parts so I could do it myself. He confirmed that he did. So I drove to his shop and it took over an hour to get anyone to acknowledge me. Finally he looked up my order from last year to give me the correct parts but he didn't write down part numbers, so we had to guess based on my knowledge, $59 for gaskets and impeller. And wait need case oil to recharge, after another $45. ( He would have let me leave without it.) So glad I had to do the work my self. Last year he told me that he had to charge me an extra $200 to cut of my impeller cause it was ceased to shaft. Well upon my own discovery I was going to have to do the same thing. The ding dong that worked on it last year did not do a good job cleaning off excess material from shaft and forced it on. So here I am cutting off my impeller. Then using a sharp file cleaning up shaft. The pump housing was old and destroyed from the impeller melting down. Uh oh, the kit Chad sold did not include a pump housing. Well I'm not driving back to his shop again when I can do a little research and buy it from someone else. Called West marine and with a little coaching we were able to locate just the part I needed and a whole rebuild kit that had everything. $45 for just the housing or $65 for the whole kit. I bought the kit. So after a couple of part run trips and some patience I R and R'd my sterndrive and was back up and running. Chad your shop is a pig sty. Your stuck in the 60's as far as how you run a business and your work is minimal at best. Thank you for being to busy, so that I could see how easy it is to do this common maintenance for a boat. So my conclusion is that after $600.00 bucks spent last year they did not supply professional service. They re-used the old parts that are included in the kit.

So I brought it back and Melgoza stood behind his work and tested the window seal again and figured out it was another problem where the water was getting in. He built a whole frame insert around the window which finally solved the problem. We wanted to wait til we had some rain bc last time the water hose did not show the leakage and he trusted us and shook our hands to give him the money when we came back from vacation and tested it in the rain which was forecasted. He also went above and beyond and is proud of his work. He is a very easy going guy, calm and makes you smile and laugh! As my word, after it was tested, I came back and paid him. But I liked that we had a mutual trust( I am sure he does not do it with everyone!) bc we can tell when people are good, decent people and he is genuine and a good person. So I like to give my business to a company that stands behind their work, is honest and doesn't play games, fair in price and decent. He even went above and beyond doing little things and refused to take any money for it but we wanted to pay him bc of the materials, his time and labor but he still refused to take any extra money. He also guaranteed his work if it started to leak again. My neighbor hired him to fix his RV fiberglass body and you could not tell it was damaged before bc it looked brand new after! Excellent workmanship!

I called Hector on Tuesday morning after the holiday and he met me at the marina after I got off work to give me an estimate to replace the pulpit platform. The insurance of the guy who hit me paid for the repairs. Hector took my boat in and started the repairs and sent me several in progress pictures of how it was going which I really appreciated. He really takes pride in his work and is fair and honest and did such a great job on the new pulpit and re installing my windless anchor winch it looks Awesome ! I can honestly recommend Hector to anyone he is a man of his word. He trusted me and did everything with no money up front until he was all done and I appreciate that. He is very flexible and did a few little extra things for me that I wanted like making my pulpit 6 inches longer than the original and ran a couple of extra wires for me so I can add some new lights I have been wanting to add. Hector you are the best. Scott Sanders Oakley CA
