These guys and gals went above and beyond good service & work in replacing the damaged canvas on my sailboat. Due to an unfortunate event (my goof), the dodger on the boat was damaged severely. I obtained quotes from three canvas shops in the SF Bay Area, but none could schedule to do the work earlier than January 2018. A sailmaker I talked to recommended West Coast Canvas as the place he uses for all work on his personal boat. I called Curt and discussed the job and he sent me a VERY fair quote after receiving pictures I emailed to him. His price was so much better than the others that I added replacing other canvas on the boat to my order and still saved money. The work was finished within two weeks. When went to pick up the boat, I was blown away. The craftsmanship was top notch and everything fit better than the factory canvass did. He made subtle changes that makes it easier to put up and take down. On top of that, one of his Tech's took the time to help me stow away the canvass and put on the cockpit cover. While doing so, pointed out tips and gave recommendations on cleaning, maintenance, and stowing of the canvass and cockpit cover. I bought a Sundancer 390 which was in Lake of the Ozarks and had it shipped to Stockton, to West Coast Canvas, which was recommended by a family member. Met Curt Page and went over all of the things I wanted upgraded or changed. Curt was tremendously knowledgeable and suggested a number of changes and improvements to some of my ideas. They installed a Lonseal floor in the main cabin which looks fabulous and upgraded the whole look of the boat interior. Super neat job with everything tucked in the right place. They installed two Raymarine Axiom units, a radar dome, autopilot and a number of other electronic upgrades. Then to cap it off they took care of decaling the new boat name and getting the boat all detailed and sea tested. The measure of care and communication I received was tremendous. I was kept informed along the way, quoted prices in advance and the work was impeccably done by Curt and his amazing staff of artisans. Great place, go there with complete confidence. Beware: Curt seems knowledgeable and appears to want to give you what you need BUT when it comes right down to it he skimps on quality and workmanship. I had $20k worth of canvas, eisenglass, and makrolon installed. I asked for roll up side curtains (U-shaped) - they weren't installed; upon return for alterations, his solution was to put in snaps and straps on the side curtains (eisenglass plus canvas) so the whole side could be rolled up - not a good look. The Bimini has a seam running down the center length - the edges of this seam were not finished (turned over) thus allowing birds to pull at the weave, unraveling the fabric. We had the center panel of the forward screen made with the makrolon; after 2 years it became opaque from crazing and yellowing; all of the makrolon on the aft deck is fine. When confronted with this failure, Curt offered no solution. The canvas pockets that attach the Bimini to its supports do not have zippers so that if you want to remove the canvas for washing and re-waterproofing you have to disassemble the whole structure. I gave two stars, not one, because the canvas is tightly constructed, giving it a professional appearance. read more

I'm a member of the Sacramento Yacht Club and bought a 2009 Suntracker Party Cruiser and had it shipped in from CO and wanted to upgrade some aspects of the boat such as bimini top and a top level canvas enclosure were the largest ticket items. I was sold by Curt and the project was managed by Scott. For those that want to know, Curt is really retired and Scott is the slickest salesperson this side of Wall Street. Several issues with the service: 1. Their workers stole items off the boat while they were working on it; bumpers and broom. It was only AFTER I pointed this out did they "remember them to the office." Why did they take it off the boat without my permission?? 2. The were not qualified and failed to properly install a propeller. After it failed in the Sacramento River and I had to be towed back to the SYC. 3. The top enclosure was not done correctly and they had to come out do repairs on the spot. 4. They REMOVED a working flow meter without asking. Soon after buying our boat, we visited West Coast Canvas to have some minor repair done and talked to Curt about doing a full camper canvas setup in the future. Went to this shop recently to get my whole boat reupholstered. Told me it would take two weeks ended up taking two months. Went to check on the boat and the top of the seat had different material than the bottom.. when I finally picked the boat up batteries were disconnected, one missing from where they go. And my stereo equalizer completely gone... told curt (the owner) about the ordeal and he seemed annoyed and has yet to do anything about it. Ignoring phone calls now. And not to mention he told me a set price from the beginning and added an extra 600$ to the price when I picked it up. If you're reading this I suggest you go to another shop. I had Kurt do two projects: 1. New upholstery for the sofa which he did very nicely. Great clean job. 2. Canvas for the aft part of my powerboat. This was done horribly. The old canvas was dirty and ratty but it didn't leak. The new canvas leaks everywhere and it looks really cheaply done. If this was done by 3 year old it would have been done better. Avoid these guys even though they still have referrals from old timers. I spent $9k on the upholstery and canvas and have to redo the canvas. read more
