Pacific boat services are the worst! They mis diagnosed my issue. I specifically asked them to fix gimble bearing and bellows. There mechanic said it was a hub in my propeller. They NEVER took the time to even put the boat in the water to see if they could pin point issue. Kelvin is clueless!!! Only sees you as a DOLLAR SIGN. Stay clear of this place. !!BEWARE!! This shop is unprofessional, dishonest, disorganized and does not take accountability. Called this shop because they were local and had decent reviews. Dropped off my boat because it would not start. Had a previous mechanic look it but he didn't have the time to continue so I dropped it off at this shop. Advised Kelvin that the previous mechanic isolated the issue down to the Distributor Cap and Rotor. He ignored me, 8 billable hours later the boat was fixed. I asked what fixed the problem and they said guess what...the Distributor Cap and Rotor! I was charged $1600 for a job that should have taken 2 hours at most. I got on a call with Ramon the owner, Fabian and Kelvin who all pointed the fingers at each other saying he made a mistake, he made a mistake etc. Even after admitting they made mistakes they still think its fair I was charge 6 hours for work that should not have even been done! They are disorganized and not thorough in their troubleshooting. Will not take accountability. Do you really want a shop whose business ethics is like this? Ramon Is a stand up guy ,, careful of other reviews ,, it's easy to say something bad when you were mad about something , but remember not all people are within reason , or their communication skills just suck one little thing goes wrong and they will snap and throw somebody under the bus without giving that person a chance to fix the problem. Why do I know this because I'm one of those kind of people sometimes but after calming down I usually think it through logically before I go trashing somebody. Maybe a tongue lashing may be a couple of arguments ,, but Ramon is not one of those kind of people they try to make 1 million excuses up of what's wrong or what went wrong he tries to work with you I have had some pretty extensive work done on my boat there there may been a couple of things I wasn't totally happy about but we talked it out and got it fixed and he did it in a prompt and timely fashion which is unheard of these days Mistakes happen it's the nature of things and sometimes you can't see every little thing until it happens I will always use these guys time and time again just on the effort alone that they try their best And they don't leave you hanging Love this place they will always do work on my boat from here on out read more

I was in talks with a staff member about buying a boat they had for sale. I made several appointments to inspect the boat and on one occasion I personally pumped out the completely flooded bilge. Everything went fairly smoothly the first couple of appointments I had with Michelle. Then came buying day. I made an offer (again to Michelle). She told me to leave the office and wait outside while she consulted with the owner. Kind of weird but I didn't mind. She came outside to meet me 5 mins later and told me not only was my offer rejected, but I was told never come again. What!? Apparently the owner felt slighted by my initial offer, so much so that he banned me. This is weird because the boat I was offering on was a $900 abandoned sailboat that had not been hauled out or maintained in half a decade, and which was missing an engine. There literally was years worth of rainwater leakage flooding the bilge. I had been nothing but polite and professional with the staff I spoke with. I made all my appointments in advance. I communicated my thoughts and needs clearly. I had the full asking price in cash on hand and was more than willing to negotiate up. Maybe the owner was having a bad day or something, but this experience really leaves a bad taste in my mouth, especially after my time investment. He could have at least explained himself to me personally instead of having staff relay his message on his behalf. I highly recommend Pacific Boat Services. I've taken my ski boat here twice for maintenance. The work and communication will keep me coming back. I was contacted before the work was performed to allow me to approve it, and once completed, they took it out on the water for a test run. During the test run, some other issues were identified and communicated, which gave me a chance to approve or pass on. I have two words for anybody thinking of dealing with or having their boat worked on by Ramon Mata and Pacific Boat Services "Stay Away" because it's my opinion he's a CROOK! He charged me over $7k to service one of my outdrives, install new shifting cables and to replace another outdrive because he said I needed to. Now, understand that most of this work except for the replacement of the outdrive should have been covered under my last warranty because I was having the same problem the last time I brought my boat to him just a couple of months before. So I decided to bring the boat to another shipyard this time in the bay area that specializes in this type of problems I'm currently having with the outdrives now locking in gear. The other shipyard after inspecting my boat told me that both outdrives were forced onto my boat in the wrong position. When they did that it bent a rod which would grind the gears, and during the inspection they found chucks of metal gears and metal shavings in both outdrives. Beside them forcing the outdrives, they also screwed up installing my shifting cables which was another big reason why it was having problems shifting. I was then given an estimate by the bay area shipyard of $7900 to repair my new outdrive that I just bought from Ramon, but I now needed to replace my other outdrive that Ramon and Pacific Boat Services just serviced. I forgot to mention, before bring the boat to another yard I had made a deal with Ramon Mata the owner of Pacific Boat Services that he would reimburse me any money I spent fixing my boat if the problems I was having was because of his below average work. We took our sailboat, a Bavaria 35, to Pacific Boat Services in Stockton to wax the hull, replace sacrificial zincs and repaint the bottom. Our overall experience was very positive. The following is a summary of our experience. When asked about costs, we do not know. We did not shop for price. We consider a boat a "toy". You don't need a boat to live well, but a boat makes it more enjoyable. Michele Wagner, in charge of boatyard operations, was VERY helpful. She reserved our haulout, made arrangements for the proper equipment: stair type ladder and a platform for our work. She was very supportive and answered any questions we had. This boatyard had requirements which were fully explained to us, along with the accompanying logic. One very important feature used with our boat was the metal frame which integrated all the support features required. This frame had six adjustable pads which very securely and safely supported the boat. This frame replaced the single jack stands commonly found in other boatyards. 1. A dock is provided that allowed us to arrive the evening before our haulout. 2. We were able to arrange for a gate pass so we could bring our car in for boatyard parking and shop for food and other items after closing hours. 3. The company accommodated us to do our own work. Our liability insurance was provided and sufficient to allow staying on the boat 4. Provided safe equipment (ladders and platforms) to facilitate staying on the boat and polishing of our hull. (The deck was about 12 feet above the ground) 5. Staying on the boat allowed us to begin and stop work on our schedule and not rely on boatyard technicians. We rigged catch buckets to collect drain water used inside the boat to avoid any wet area beneath the boat. The yard has a basin to dispose of the collected water. 6. Demonstrated care in placing the lifting straps to avoid/protect our saildrive. 7. Showed concern and care for the newly polished hull and painted bottom - protecting these surfaces with special paper sheets when the boat was relaunched. SidnMary read more

Owning a boat is a complex thing. Pacific Boat Services is an honest service facility. I have used them a half a dozen times and have left as a happy customer. I have had canvas work, outdrive, engine, external repair done by Ramon's people. I even had my trailer tuned up. Like anything else in the repair business if you're disappointed in their work or may have a misunderstanding, Ramon will listen and work with you to solve any concerns that you may have. DON'T TAKE YOUR BOAT HERE! HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! I was specific about asking for a quote to make sure the electrical, water heater, pontoons and toilet were fixed on a houseboat. I prepaid $1094 to have it hauled out which included the pontoons to be tested. Before the work started, Ramon estimated the repairs to be an add'l $6-$9K. Final bill: $13,800!! $7800 of it was LABOR! Which he could produce time sheets for. When I asked for an itemized labor breakdown, he threatened he would charge me for any difference, if any. Sounded to me like he guessed at the hours because he really didn't keep track of it and wanted to jack up the bill for unexplainable and ridiculous labor charges. We found 2 items on the invoice that didn't even get fixed but we were charged for. Although he took ONE of the charges off, CHECK YOUR INVOICES CAREFULLY!! Absolutely crooked way to run a business!!! When you hand over your final invoice, MAKE SURE IT'S 100% ACCURATE!!! THEN, Ramon tried to charge an additional $800 haul out fee because when he put the boat back in the water, the boat started taking on water ! After I threatened to take him to court, he took that fee off. Ramon never called me to explain add'l charges or give estimates... he just took it upon himself & did the work without our authorization. We were charged $185 to pump out the ALREADY EMPTIED septic tank we just paid $100 to Septic Brothers to empty a couple days before! Ramon refused to remove that charge and gave me some excuse that Septic Brothers never emptied it!!! I felt COMPLETELY taken advantage of. He threatened if I didn't pay his bill right then and there, he'd keep the boat. After 30 minutes of arguing with him, he took off the $800 for 2nd haul out, and I just paid the bill just to be DONE with him!! He is unprofessional, has lousy record keeping, and his invoicing is extremely confusing and misleading! Ramon, save your reply to this review - YOU SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN! PERIOD! I cannot say enough to how wonderful all the staff are, especially Frank, Ramon and the gals at the front desk. I am ill with cancer and everywhere else I contacted told me it would be at least 5 month before repairs would be done or stated they wouldn't touch my 1985 boat as it was too old. When I spoke with Frank and explained navigating a boat from my houseboat on the Delta to Sacramento was number one on my bucket list he reassured me their team could get it done and in a time frame no one else had offered. They ALL went out of their way to make my dream happen and within a cost I could manage. They also explained what the repairs would be and made sure I understood. Believe me they certainly know there stuff! Thanks to them I will be able to take my grandson on his first boat ride soon!!!!!!! This business is not on h/w 12, but on 8 mile road going west! This place provided excellent service when I had the bottom of my boat painted. There was no "surprise" when I got the bill. A big plus: they had washed the boat! Outstanding service. When I arrived, it was too windy to place on the "lift". He called me the day the wind was down. Assistants climbed all over the boat to insure that it didn't get scratched up. All I had to do was drive it in. Not like with the previous owner, who I had to climb out to help. Ladd's Marina was recommended by a friend. I am glad I brought my boat to them for the bottom work needed. Allan and Richard did a great job on a difficult repair. They saved me some money by finding a reconditioned prop and sending my drive shaft out to be straightened. The yard was clean, the shop was kept up and the store looked well stocked. Michelle was a pleasure to deal with on the phone and in person. Were they cheap? No, but do you really want to pay a discounted rate when they are working on something that could leak or cause other issues? I don't. I cannot remember the yard manager's name for the life of me, but he did us solid by giving us a ride back to Village West Marina in his personal vehicle. After meeting her I was impressed with her " can do" attitude, and she really put some extra effort into my servicing even when I didnt quite have all the requirement needed to have the work performed. I lived on my boat at ladds over a year,I spent over 14,000 there. The work they did was not done right, Instead of replaceing my cockpit drain hose they used duck tape to hold it togeather,They fixed the connection on my mast light and failed to connect it when they set the mast,I pointed that out to owner he said cut a hole in my mast to connect fitting. Any way I got that done there and a pvc pipe fitting on my sink.All for 2700.00 .They gave me a receipt for 2700.00 and no listing on receipt for what they did, Then they did the bottom paint they said it would be 1500.00 when finished they said it would be 1800.00 for bottom paint now. Then about three months ago they put my cocker spaniel poop on the wind shield of my car,I know harbor master was always rude, I confronted the Lady the owner about my rosie poop on my wind shield, Then allen told me to get my boat and get out right now,Then their worker tried to hit me with his fist and the office person stoped him from harming me,Anyway i called the police , They came out and closed the gate so the police could not get in and arrest randy ladds employee for harming. I started haveing chest pains and shortness of breath,sick stomach,sweating.I was taken to the hospital for three day,Sent to care home for a week.I thank god i am no longer there,my cocker spaniel has not had one flea or sprayed by the skunks,I have never seen a place that dirty with fleas and a badger,This is not a marina I would ever have my boat worked on at. read more

Took our boat here in 2014 and arrived to check on the work being done. Also, arrived and back door had been left unlocked but we were not as lucky as previous reviewer, we had been cleaned out of 2 TV's, tools, iPod and docking station, digital camera, about 30 DVD's,craftsman drill set and numerous other items. When I found Ramon that morning, he said the mechanics left it unlocked but the mechanics said they locked it and gave Ramon the key back. He stated it would be turned into his insurance only to tell me a few days later that his insurance didn't cover vandalism. If you have a houseboat that does not float and you need a place to park it out of the water indefinitely. Ladd's is the place for you. However, if you have a boat that you need worked on , don't go to Ladd's. They dont work on a schedule and the workers are never supervised. Some of their work is passable. Much of it is substandard. They don't have a schedule, even if you do. Ask to talk to someone in charge, don't expect to talk to anybody. Call and leave a message, don't expect them to call you back. My list of complaints with them is quite long and I dont want to bore you with it. (I wont even mention the bill). Save yourself wasted money and pain and go somewhere else. read more

During the summer this place can get crazy. If there is a line of bass boats don't get in the middle of them. They are there to go and go fast. The pricing with gated and patrolled parking give you a sense of comfort for those long days on the river. There is riverpoint rv around the corner.
