Contacted PTS for my boat trailer that's in desperate need of repair. The brakes have not been working for quite some time. Peter scheduled for me to drop off the trailer on a Wednesday and I asked if I could get it back by the weekend since I had plans for a long drive to Ft. Bragg to go fishing. He said he was booked and it would be tough. However, he pulled through and got it done before the weekend. The trailer had almost a complete makeover. Basically got a whole new brake system, including four brand new radial tires. There was a hiccup, but it was no fault of PTS. The brakes worked too well when I got home, I couldn't reverse the trailer since it would consistently lock up. I texted Peter and he told me the brakes should release when the reverse light is on. I checked the truck lights and fuses and they all looked good. However, the trailer's lights were randomly turning off/on. Peter said it's most likely a bad fuse in the truck or a bad connection that's causing the trailer's brakes to lock up. Anyhow, since it was the weekend and PTS was closed, I had to cancel my fishing trip. Monday, Peter drove to my house to help trouble shoot the issue. We discovered the truck's connector was corroded and the ground wire to the trailer broke. He sanded the connector and reconnected the ground wire to get the trailer functioning. He informed me getting a new connector would resolve the issue. Sure enough, I replaced the connector and everything worked. Peter is honest, very transparent. He stood behind his work and was responsive to my text requests. I learned much from chatting with him. I learned basic trailer functions and how to trouble shoot issues. It's hard to find someone trustworthy like Peter. Overall, I'm very happy with the service and would recommend PTS. read more

Just received excellent service from Performance Trailer Service! I was having electrical issues with my Hawk horse trailer, and it took a bit of time and detective work to track the problem down to a faulty ground in the trailer's wiring. Once identified, the issue was fixed quickly, and then the crew did annual maintenance service on the trailer's axles, brakes and seals. I really appreciated not having to bring my trailer into a shop and spend a couple of hours waiting - instead I was able to ride my horse and get morning chores done, at which point the work was wrapping up. Pete completely replaced the floor in my Blenderup solo trailer. These trailers are European made and you can no longer get them new in the US, so finding someone who knows how to service and repair them is extremely difficult. I had a trailer that could only be serviced while my boat was in the water for just a day or two they came out and looked at it 4 weeks in advance and the assessment was on the money they reused as many parts as they could safely. On fix it day They brought an entire crew to the parking lot and within about seven hours rebuilt my trailer with new tires brakes, lights, and a new hitch on the spot. The service was the best I've ever seen and they expedited it perfectly there was no mess left behind. We were getting ready to head out on a three week vacation on Labor Day. I hooked up a new brake controller myself which I had done before. Well Friday after I hooked it up it threw a code that I had a short. Went online and found Performance Trailer Service. Called and spoke to Pete the owner and told him the problem and ask if there was anyway to get them to check out my trailer Friday the day I called as I am leaving on Sunday or Monday. He ask me a few questions and recommended a service on the axles since they had not been done in years and then find my short issue. He said he could send his two guys out right away as they were finishing up early and this was Friday before the holiday weekend. I said let's do it and within 30 minutes Eric and Isaiah showed. Not sure if that is the correct spelling for Isaiah. The guys showed up and got right to work and when they pulled my bearings they were golden brown which means they had got real hot. I agreed to replace them and Eric was trying to find a short which he did fairly quickly. He repaired it and when the bearings were done they adjusted the brakes and when all was done he set my controller and all I had to do when they left was to drive and set the controller to just under where it locked up the tires. All was working when they left. Well when I was driving to set controller it threw a short code again. Called Pete and he said to text Eric which I did and he called me back and said he would be back at 8:00am Saturday even though it was his day off but he knew we had our trip planned. He showed up at 7:45 and got right to work. He took care of the issue which did not show up the day before. He then took a ride with me to adjust the controller and all was good. I have to say that calling Pete at Performance Trailer Service was a blessing as we would not be leaving on our vacation if it wasn't for Pete and his guys. They all are super nice and their knowledge was over the top and the guys explained everything to me. So sorry for the long review and I don't normally write reviews but had to on this company. I would highly recommend them to anyone needing trailer maintenance or repair. They went over and above my expectations. I will use them now for my trailer maintenance whenever needed. Paid for a top to bottom maintenance check on my travel trailer. Seemed like a good deal, they came to my house, check all the pipes and wires, took off tires and looked at them, greased axel, what I actually got was a $450+ bill, flat tire on my trip the following week (ended up replacing all the tires), and I have a leak in my cold water line. I was able to finally find someone I could trust to fix a much needed axle repair among other repairs after being told and paying money to Paul's Automotive twice that nothing was wrong, when you could clearly see there was an issue. Pete is professional and knowledgable. I had to have my Lance travel trailer axle swapped out to raise the trailer by 3 inches since the old axle had sagged and tires were hitting the wheel wells. Dexter's office in Oakland recommended Pete. He is quick in getting back and answering all questions. I had work done at Pete's since my place doesn't have room for him to work. Dexter Company shipped the wrong axle (label was put on wrong axle). Pete took one look at axle and said that isn't the correct axle.
