Great music and drinks. A total surprise to the up side. We stumbles upon this place and it turned out to be a great experience.

Super cool underground pub! Love the atmosphere and design. Fantastic food! Good spot for a few friends to grab a pint and a booth.

Saint Vincent's Boston Irish Bar

Saint Vincent's Boston Irish Bar

I came here on Friday to meet up with an old friend before heading elsewhere…read more St Vincent's Boston Irish bar doesn't look like a chain bar but is owned by the same people as Oran Mor on Byres road. The bar looks very minimalistic with drinks and furniture and looks more of a working progress with cables hanging out of the walls. For an Irish bar it certainly didn't have an Irish look or feel to the place but looked more like a cocktail bar with the white seats minus the drinks. The first two drinks that l tried to order was out of stock as no delivery came, I ended up with a Guinness and possibly the worsted that I've tasted in years. For a Friday night there was only a stereo on for entertainment the bar did however have a funny smell like an old persons house. No TVs or sky yet No jukebox. I will come back in a few weeks to update if there is any change.

Although the opening of this bar brought comments from the management that they were trying to steer away from being a strictly 'Celtic pub' St Vincent's serms to me to be very much 'Son of Failte'. 3 months after it opened I srill do not know if I like it. The actual bar itself is far too small- Failte's was one of the longer bars in town- which leads to three deep queues to get served if the pub is even moderately busy. The gantry is not particularly well stocked - very little in the way of malt whisky- and service is patchy although when I was last in it was better than previously There has been live music every time I have been in and because St Vincent's haa a low ceiling it can be quite hard to have a conversation and , if you have been ar a game or there's a game on TV, I quite like to be able to hear what people are sayng. I am not against singing the old rebel songs at all but the list of songs is quite a short one and some variety would help in the music perforned. The musical acts are usually good though. The bar has always been busy when I am in it and it fills a gap in a market quite well but it has faults and to date lacks a bit of character. As my old report cards used to say 'could do better'

It's cozy, crowded, and buzzing with life -- often standing room only and packed shoulder-to-shoulder with locals and travelers alike. If you're a whisky fan (or even just whisky-curious), do yourself a favor and try one of their Scotland whisky flights. It's like taking a mini tour of the country's whisky regions without ever leaving your barstool -- and without worrying about driving. The bartenders really know their stuff and are happy to guide you toward something you'll love. A quick heads-up: no football colors allowed, which keeps the atmosphere friendly and relaxed no matter who you support. And speaking of friendly -- the locals here are as welcoming as they come. This is exactly the kind of place where Scotland's famous pub culture shines. Prices are surprisingly reasonable too, so you can sample a few drams without feeling guilty. Whether you're a seasoned whisky nerd or just looking to experience the local vibe, this is the spot. Pull up a stool (if you can find one) and enjoy a proper Scottish night out

This may prompt you to feel like ordering a drink. You are in good hands and they can totally recommend something that you may like. Their selection is so huge they don't have a menu, you just have to ask for your label or take their recommendations. Naturally, most of the selection is Scottish whiskey, but if you somehow prefer otherwise, (say you are a local tired of Scotch... or just want to reaffirm nothing beats a Scotch?) they do offer whiskey from other countries, as well as beer and ciders, as well as gin, rum and the like. They do offer pies and other bar food, but we went after dinner and just couldn't stomach more food, tempting as they may sound.

The first night we have been there was a Friday and it was pretty quiet still the atmosphere was really nice. Met a lot of nice people there. Unfortunately they already closed at midnight. The second night was on a Saturday after the Celtic match. The place was really crowed and it was even more fun than the night before. Later that evening they had live music. All staff and guests were really nice and you are more than welcome to stop by if you are a St. Pauli fan. The prices are pretty cheap. I will stop by there every time I go to Glasgow again.

Having researched the pub before going (The Times calls it the "Hardest pub in Glasgow") we were not sure quite what to expect... Wearing a St Pauli shirt and holding a pint of well kept and very well priced (£1.95) Guinness helped defuse any situation that could have arisen, but we didn't come across any agressive behaviour in the bar at all. The staff are dedicated and friendly and the whole pub is plastered floor to ceiling in Celtic photos, shirts, scarves etc. Do not come into this pub in a Rangers shirt, or any other football team's merchandise just to be safe. Do not talk about Rangers at all, just to be safe. They have a pool table, although it's best to let the locals play.

Looks like this place hasn't been reviewed for years; time for an update!…read more O'Neill's is a giant Irish bar on a corner surrounded by other giant Irish bars. It is huge amongst Celtic supporters (one of the 2 big Glasgow football clubs), and often has a line out the door, even in cold and wet weather when other pubs have seats open. It can turn into a Jam-packed madhouse during busy times, and will feature all of the jostling, frustration, and waiting to get service during those periods that one might expect. If you're a diehard fan and wish to surround yourself with others of that ilk, I suppose the drawbacks may be worth it to you. We went on the afternoon of New Year's Day, when most of Glasgow is sleeping off the effects of Hogmanay, and this was one of the only joints that was open. Service under those conditions was speedy and friendly. We ordered some pub food, which turned out to be ok, but merely ok. I would probably not actively seek out another visit to O'Neill's, but it was ok for what we needed.

When you order your food you have to ask now at the bar what do they have as the first three starters where off the menu due to poor ordering. Only one problem there is no chefs, and these guys are not willing to pay chef wages hence loads of issues with food for the past few months. No one is willing to be a chef on a cooks wage NMW. At the weekends the door staff can be picky on who gets in no matter who you are! I would prefer to be told your an ugly f*cker and ain't getting in. Staff are not trained on how to serve l could be standing at the bar for half an hour as someone else walks in and they are served straight away, What's that all about O'neills Sort your act out!
