Don't let the photos of the inside fool you, the food is amazing! I thought I got dragged here by local friends, I was sort of overdressed and I hated the way the outside looked. But when I walked in, I knew it would be good. The three of us ordered the meatloaf, the branzino, 4 sides, and 4 desserts. Everything was perfection. Order the meatloaf if it's available, you will love it! The branzino was again, perfect. A little small for me, but big for some people. The strawberry shortcake, wow. The coconut cake, stfu. "Delightful" A friend who lives in West Palm Beach recommended this restaurant and boy were they correct. Contemporary American prepared by Chef Matthew Byrne and his team. Almost a farm to table restaurant. I like that Matthew comes out of the kitchen and talks to his guests. Small with a lot of outside seating. Our server, Jody was extremely friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable about the menu. Started with the Crispy Eggplant, Roasted Peppers, Burrata, Arugula, Balsamic reduction. Very good, almost like an eggplant stack. For entrees, I had a very good Spanish Seafood Stew, that was chock full of seafood and fish in tomato broth. My wife ordered the house favorite, Chicken Schnitzel Radish, Sweet Onion, Mushroom, Arugula with a Fried Egg on top. Fried egg is an in thing. We tried the dessert sampler which was excellent, strawberry shortcake, apple cobbler , and a chocolate mousse cake. Very nice wine list but on the pricey side. My friend and I went for dinner at the new north location for our first girls night since the onset of COVID. We had an 8 pm reservation because nothing earlier was available. We had cocktails, an appetizer, entrees and a bottle of wine. The food was ok, not great, however, while we were finishing our wine, the manager (and/or the owner) asked us if we needed anything else because the staff was only scheduled to work until 10 pm and that they only plan for 2 hours per reservation and basically told us to leave. So, if you looking for a relaxing place to have dinner and drinks, look elsewhere. read more

This place I had such high expectations for the new location in Jupiter. Wow I'm so disappointed. You drive by and it's so packed and you're like I have to go eat here. Number one the service is terrible. We never got a refill on our water. But I ordered their fish special the branzino and maybe I'm just not the right person for fish the first bite it was all bones I spit it out into my Napkin. Then I kept getting bones. However to be fair I gave it to my Husband and he said there were no bones so ok! Fine he loved the food. He ate my fish and his meatloaf. I was starting to be ok and decided we should order desert the coconut cake! The last time we had that was In Miami at KYU. And we're like wow this is great so much better! Then all of a Sudden I chewed into something really hard. I spit it out and gave it to my husband and it was a tiny piece of GLASS. I called The waiter over and asked what he thought. They got the owner they were very apologetic but the point was I wanted to know they agree it was glass right !? Bc it was! So I'll never go back ever I'm just so disappointed. read more

We assume that the kitchen prepares food in boxes for lunch and they do not keep track how long it stayes in the fridge or other reasons i do not want to get into. What an amazing dining experience! We are new to WPB and a friend recommended several different restaurants to try, Kitchen being one of them. After seeing the menu we decided to give it a try. And what a great decision it was! Menu had plenty of different dishes for everyone (we have a vegetarian in the family and she had PLENTY to choose from). Our server, Vera, was incredibly knowledgeable on the dishes and so friendly and charming. The ahi-tuna was a favorite, as was the chicken, the clam pasta, the pork chop. Really everything was just delicious. And HIGHLY recommend the dessert sampler! The bread pudding was INSANE. All in all, a fantastic place with a wonderful staff. When growing up, I was always taught NOT to lie. So, for that reason, I will be very honest for the sake of this forum AND for the sake of YOUR wallet. On the recommendation of others, we made a reservation at Kitchen. After having incredible experiences at other Palm Beach restaurants (Buccan, Meat Market, Table 26, Palm Beach Grill, Cafe Boulud, Bice...) we assumed that Kitchen would be just as fabulous. Sadly, that was NOT the case. Four of of us dined and four of us disliked the experience immensely. Let's begin by saying that Kitchen is located in a small plaza with decent exposure. Not the best part of town but that's not important to this review. We were seated promptly and served by a very lovely waitress. The amuse bouche of eggplant and goat cheese on toast was tasty. We then ordered two of the same appetizer to share: Ahi tuna. Seriously, I am certain they forgot to add anything to the tuna. If you love ahi tuna, try the one at Cheesecake Factory. It far surpasses what we were subjected to. Absolutely no taste except for the tiny cubes of mango within. Our entrees consisted of the the simple fish: 3 orders of the grilled Cobia and 1 order of Snapper. The Cobia was charred which gave it a somewhat burned taste. The fish itself was moist but the burned taste made it impossible to eat. The Snapper was prepared puttanesca style with capers and lemon but once again, was ridiculously bland. I happen to make tilapia puttanesca at home and I am considering offering Kitchen my recipe as it far surpasses what we tasted and paid for this evening. The sides, although plentiful, were again bland. The squash and goat cheese was boring. No spices to give it a kick of any kind. The Brussels sprouts and grape tomatoes were dried out. The parsley fries were actually tasty. For dessert we chose to order the chef's sampler. Thankfully this was a favourable course. The strawberry shortcake had a lovely texture and taste. The chocolate pudding taste had a pleasant sweetness and nicely done crust. And finally, the cobbler was perfectly done and adorned with yummy vanilla ice cream. We are not quite certain why the chef should be nominated for a James Beard award. Truly, the fare at Kitchen is not worthy of an award. We left feeling disappointed and despondent. What we had hoped to be a culinary experience was anything but. The restaurant with busy, the ambiance was pleasant but sadly the food was subpar. read more

Great place, great food and fantastic service! I held my mother's surprise birthday here and everyone at kitchen made it such an amazing and unforgettable night. They were super helpful leading up to the event and very responsive. We used the private room (which is the perfect size for a 8-10 person party) and had a tasting menu. All the food was so so good and the chef made a special plate for each course for my father who has dietary restrictions (he loved all of his food too!) they even went as far as to give him his own dessert since he couldn't eat the typical dessert tasting plate. Our server was awesome and everyone at the party had the best time. Thank you kitchen for making it such a special evening! I highly recommend this place for small private parties! read more

Went here on a whim and found it a mixed bag. A bunch of small things added up to make this not the nicest evening I expected given the quality of food and service this restaurant seems to be aiming for. First bad sign: valet-only parking. Personally, I hate handing my car to a stranger, especially when the spots are literally a 20 second walk from the front door. Valet parking here is just an incredible waste, and just serves to try to make the restaurant seem fancier. Please spare me. Immediately upon entering one of their multiple dining rooms, I noticed a funky smell. Not bad food, not chemicals or cleaners, but more like a musty building smell. My companion didn't notice this, which surprised me. Luckily, after a few minutes I got used to it, but it was not something you'd expect at a restaurant of this caliber. The server asked me if she could bring us water, to which I responded "room temperature water, please". She leaves, without asking my companion for a preference. No big deal, but you would figure they would be more attentive to us individually, and not just assume the man is ordering for both. After the server brought us menus, we inquired whether they had a prix fixe menu. She then brought us those menus as well. However, if we hadn't asked for them, we never would have gotten them. Shouldn't your server tell you about these things, without being asked? After getting our food, we overhear the server describing specials to the table next to us. Specials? We were never told of specials. That's an inexcusable oversight in my book. We ordered the pork chop, and swordfish. The waitress asked how I wanted the pork chop cooked. I asked for it medium (expecting it to be cooked through but fairly moist inside), and instead it came closer to well-done (somewhat dry inside). Not super dry, but still more than I expected. Despite that, it was fairly tasty. The swordfish was nicely done and quite flavorful, and the two included sides were a nice touch. For dessert, we ordered the chocolate pudding pie. It was quite good: dark, dense chocolate, not too sweet. Very much like a dense mousse cake. It was served quite cold, though, so I would recommend letting it sit for 10 minutes or so to come closer to room temperature. In fact, at a restaurant like this, I would have expected the kitchen to do this for us before serving it. Decaf espresso was excellent, and was brought when requested (after dessert). read more

If you make your restaurant a place where people want to be, people will be there. And Kitchen is one of those places. I happened to be staying in the hotel across the street (Biba, also worth a 5-star review), happened to see the charming patio at Kitchen, and happened to stop in for a late dinner when I was in town for work. This is as good as a restaurant gets in my book: comfortable yet elegant food, extremely warm and friendly service and a charming little setup. You really feel like you're just hanging out with friends, and thats the makings of a great restaurant. I've gone back since then and I'm pretty sure I'll stop in every time I'm in town. And I'm confident saying this: the Kitchen burger=best ever. One day I'll try something else, which I'm sure will be equally as wonderful. Bravo Kitchen! Kitchen is an overhyped, overpriced, mediocre restaurant that left my husband with a nasty case of food poisoning. Kitchen has several bright spots, notably the service, which is impeccable,the ahi and mango dish, which was yummy and the veggie sides, which are yummy too. The remainder of our meal was not so much bad as bland. My hubbie got the osso bucco and I got the cobia. Everything needed a little more in the way of salt and pepper and flavor. I squeezed both lemons over my fish just to make it edible. Coconut cake was way too sweet. If I am going to spend over $100 on a meal, that meal should be worth the money and I don't think it was in this instance. There was nothing particularly spectacular about the food even at its high points. I will not be returning especially given the fact that my husband became ill shortly after. read more

PARTIAL REVIEW Opening Remarks: -Kitchen was opened mid 2013 by Chef Matthew Byrne and his wife. -Unlike most of the popular staples in Palm Beach, I hadn't heard anything about it (assumedly because it's so new), until I got chatting a store clerk on the Worth Avenue strip who told me to check it out. Now, unlike Toronto, the Palm Beach demographic is probably not so blogging-yelp-urbanspoon savvy, so it didn't surprise me I had overlooked it in my online research. What did surprise me was how booked up they were when I went to make a reservation! Word to the wise, folks, plan ahead if you want to get in! Ambiance: -Kitchen is located in the middle of a random West Palm Beach strip mall making its reputation as a "neighbourhood gem" make sense. -Upon walking into the space and counting a whole 10 tables inside (and a handful more on their front patio), I started to see why opentable showed so little availability. Even their Monday night was fully seated. -The décor is understated and clean. White table clothes are topped by white paper sheets, upon which a single tea candle illuminates the space. The similarly white walls are adorned with a few pieces of framed artwork and a long mirror lining one of the walls. The focal point of the room, however, is the black chalkboard wall decorated with an arrangement of simple white dinner plates and iconic quotes about food. I know them all, of course, but my favourite is Julie Child's, "People who love to eat are always the best people." Service: -We were promptly seated by a beautiful young woman, who introduced herself as co-owner and chef Byrne's wife. Almost immediately, our water glasses were filled and our server popped by to brief us on the menu. -Our bright and cheerful server reminded me of a Food Network chef in her over the top passionate description of every dish. Imagine Anne Burrell after she's tucked into a crazy delicious lemon tart (but with much nicer hair.) You can tell these folk have been trained well on how to sell the plates. -Not only was she a good sales lady, and but she also made solid recommendations on wine, ensured our water (and wine) glasses were never empty, and between her and the busser, immediately cleared our plates between courses. -Often at these small spots, I get nervous that the kitchen may be so small that our meal will take a lifetime, but thankfully that wasn't the case. Courses came out at a very comfortable pace and we were in and out in about 1 hour and 45 minutes. Drink: -Without any room for a proper bar, Kitchen's offerings are wine and beer only- no cocktails for this gal. They offer 3 stand-by beers by the bottle ($5-6), and over 40 wines the bottle ($35-220), a quarter of which are available by the glass ($10-15). From my casual looksy at the list, I saw a nice range of International offerings, with a heavy focus on California wines. -We both ended up going for whites - for him a buttery La Follette North Coast Chardonnay ($15) and me an easy drinking Lageder Riff Pinot Grigio from Italy ($10). No complaints here. Food: -Chef Byrne's menu can be considered contemporary American with a strong focus on high quality local and seasonal ingredients. -From reading the menu top to bottom, I noticed a bit of a divide in theme between the appetizers and main courses. The apps read as very light, fresh, International and veggie-centric, while mains were far more hearty, comforting and familiar. -For such a small restaurant with assumedly a limited number of covers per night, I was surprised to see so many different proteins played out- they pretty much covered all the main stream centerpieces without dipping into offal or game. That's a good thing for variety (especially if you want to visit often), and hopefully not a bad thing for quality (though for the record it all tasted fresh to us). White Bean, Roasted Eggplant, Red Pepper and Chevre Bruschetta (Amuse) The bruschetta was simple but fresh and inviting. A very tasty first bite. Asparagus, Prosciutto, Chevre, Poached Egg ($13) Not surprisingly, the combination of the salty prosciutto with the tangy chevre, fatty egg yolk and the crunchy crostini was divine. My only criticism would be that the portion was underwhelming and the egg was a touch overcooked. I was looking forward to a oozing explosion but only the very core was still uncooked. Ahi, Mango & Avocado, Spicy Soy Dressing ($17) This was probably the best savoury dish of the night. The fatty tuna with the creamy avocado and the sweet ripe mango really came together in that spicy umami rich dressing. What could have made this even better would maybe have been some crispy chips to eat it with, but otherwise a solid dish. Grilled Veggie & Ricotta Stack, Tomato Ragout ($12) This was probably the most disappointing dish of the night. We were brought here while visiting family in the area, and i am SO glad to have discovered it. The chicken schnitzel dish is unreal - I am still thinking about it a week later! The server was helpful with wine suggestions and overall friendly, and the atmosphere is nice but not pretentious. However, the best part of the meal was the dessert sampler. Kitchen is a small, cozy restaurant that just opened a few weeks ago and they've already gotten it right, which is impressive. My group had a delicious Prosecco to start. Amazing appetizers - the eggplant "lasagna" was unique and delicious, and the asparagus with prosciutto and poached egg was heavenly. The chef's signature schnitzel was unlike any I'd had before and was perfectly cooked. The filet with tomato-blue cheese salad was mouth-watering and tender. The scallops with creamy bacon Brussels were perfect. We had a pumpkin creme brûlée and the nutella sandwich as shared desserts. I try not to write negative reviews and prefer to send them directly to the restaurants email to give constructive feedback, but they don't publish an email address. So here it goes... We were really excited to try the new North location and took an 8:30 reservation just to get in. Our Appetizers were good, but the dinner was another story. 2 out of 4 entrees were good, the other two were cold and one was so cold it was sent back. In the midst of that we sat for 20 mins with our meals and no cocktails. While we were finishing our meals (9:45) they were putting chairs up on the tables that were empty. In all my years in the industry, I can tell you that is a huge NO NO, you always wait until the guests have left. We were all shocked. The manager never came to apologize for the dinner or offer anything to show they cared about the business. Such a shame when you have four locals who eat out all the time walking out disappointed. Just finished a meal at Kitchen and had a really great time. Even though it was raining on and off, we were still able to enjoy dining outside. Also noticed three dogs joined some of the other guests which I thought was nice. A little barking here and there but nothing too bad. Chef and owner Matthew Byrne and his wife along with a small but attentive staff started us off with a simple taste of onion jam and goat cheese on top of crostini to help us select what we wanted for dinner. There is only beer and wine here and the selection is more than adequate as well as offering a $30 corkage fee for those that want to bring something special from home. We chose a moderately priced Pinot and shared the ahi tuna with mango and micro greens and the beet and creamed blue cheese salad. The Beets were very flavorful and the blue cheese was not overpowering. Blue cheese can have a strong flavor but it was matched evenly with the beets. The Ahi Tuna and mango was great. The ahi was seasoned separately and creamed with avocado. The mango was a perfect compliment mixing the sweetness with the savory and all the texture was complimented with the crunch of the micro greens. For the main course my wife got the seared Scallops over Parmesan risotto. The brinyness of the perfectly cooked scallops was great against the creamy risotto. I wanted more of this but resisted. I got the double wide pork chop that tender and juicy. Many times this cut can be overcooked and dry but this was juicy. The chop was topped with an apple chutney that had a mix of garlic and onion that cut the sweetness that an apple chutney can bring. It was served with a goat cheese laced chive smashed potato mix that was great. We also got two sides of dill roasted cauliflower and roasted Brussels sprouts and grape tomatoes. Both excellent and great compliments to the meal. To finish, we got the apple and blueberry cobbler topped with ice cream and lightly drizzled with caramel. I'm not the sweet tooth like my wife is. So my two or three spoonfuls was enough for me. But the dish was licked clean at the end. Both my wife and I were questioning the small dish and spoon of kosher salt and bottle of Crystal hot sauce. When Chef Matthew came out we asked him about it. He said the salt is there in case anyone wants to add a bit. We thought none of the dishes needed anything. The hot sauce is two fold. Chef Matthew cut his teeth at a Greek place in the Philly area where the owner chef there always had it on the table for people to spice things up. He wanted to have that for his tables paying homage to this man as well as adding a nice splash of red color to the table. This was certainly a great meal and a great addition to what I hear is a great food scene in West Palm. Good luck Chef. read more

Went this past Friday for anniversary dinner with my wife. The very short summary was that the food was outstanding, the owners chef(husband) and hostess(wife) are very talented and enthusiastic. My expectations were exceeded by the food and we will definitely be back to try more things on the menu. Service by our waitress was underwhelming and a bit too casual and aloof. The waitress wanted to be more of an order taker. This place needs servers that get to know the patrons, assist with selections and educate on the great things about the menu/food/wine. When I asked for help on ordering I got the dreaded "everything is great". (It's entirely possible that the server we got was not representative of typical service levels, all Other staff we interacted with were engaged and genuinely helpful). The owner/wife came by to check on us and saved the day with her recommendations and genuine enthusiasm. The dining room is small and the tables are close together so there isn't a lot of privacy for a romantic dinner. We had the reimagined eggs, bacon, toast as an appetizer. Awesome. For entrees we had the seafood pasta (excellent) and the schnitzel (excellent). We also get an extra side veggie of the Brussel sprouts which were great. read more

My only critique is that the prices are a bit high for a flamingo park eatery and for what you get. Comparable to Palm beach island's Buccan. It was a lovely, rainy Thursday night, off season. We'd both worked all day, and wanted a nice glass of wine before we dined. We walked into the comfortable, open lounge and sat at the bar. Wait staff clearly saw us there, and yet no one choose to inform us the bar was closed. After we'd sat for awhile, my wife went to the hostess to inform her we were at the bar and would like a glass of wine. The hostess in ripped jeans, (this is a pricey restaurant,) told her no one would come to the open bar, we'd have to sit at a table. All the tables outside were full, and there was one open in the crowded dining area. We simply cared for a glass of wine, after a long day, before we were seated. Kitchen remains a favorite but lost a star with me this year. My friend started with the Israeli salad and raved about it --- so fresh and lively --- and very much enjoyed her simple chicken and mashed potatoes. Since I am a french fry fan, I started with an order of parsley fries that were downright bad --- arrived lukewarm with lots of little end bits --- totally failed. I have a hard time ordering anything but the chicken schnitzel since it is so good and it did not disappoint --- excellent. We requested an order of bread ($4) to arrive before apps but it showed up with the apps which rather defeated the purpose. Ended by sharing the dessert sampler --- loved it. It really feels like a small NY bistro in the middle of West Palm. Great atmosphere, service was great, found was delicious. We went on a Monday night at 8:30 and it was just the right amount of people so it wasn't too loud and very romantic. I imagine on the Friday and Saturday nights it's packed. Quality of food - taste, presentation and service, where all wonderful. Prices are definitely more than reasonable for the caliber of the chef, staff and the atmosphere. Great restaurant! The steak with the Bleu cheese was amazing! Good service. Small and definitely need a reservation.
