Our server for the evening was Mary Rose. She was amazing! She shared the drink specials and app specials with great layering description making the dishes come to life without a picture. We ordered the special drink from the bar which was an apple candied ginger mule. And because I love beets we had those as an app. Delish. Have been meaning to check this place out for a long time and we finally got to try it, it did not disappoint, we came on a Wednesday night for dinner and we were immediately greeted by the hostess and got a table on their closed off patio. Our waiter was very attentive and nice! We had the meatball appetizer over grits and it was good. THE SALAD PIZZA IS BOMB! So much arugula tossed in a tasty vinaigrette with pine nuts and cheese. This was our second visit. We were pressed for time before seeing Moulin Rouge at the Peace center. We walked in, told the hostess about our issue with time. She got us a table at the server come by and took our order right away. The dinner was delicious. I had red pepper and sausage pizza. My wife had the shrimp burger with the sweet potatoes. I went here for lunch and was not as pleased as my prior dinner visit. My Loaded Grit Bowl was very disappointing. The quantity of grits was small (less than online photos) and they were not hot, just warm. Further, it was hardly "loaded." There were a few sprinkles of sausage and stuff, but not much. The slice of bread was kind of soggy. I thought about sending it back but decided against it. However, I will never order it again. My friend had the burger and was also disappointed. The server said they were known for their great burgers but my friend said there was nothing special about. Just a plain, everyday burger. Not worth the price. Noticed they don't have a reservation system but do have a wait list. We checked it 5 mins from restaurant and it said no wait cone on in. When we arrived there have to been 20 people waiting. When I asked the hostess she said we just turned on the waitlist. The wait was is 30-40 mins. If you are going to have a waitlist maybe turn it on before there will is 20 people waiting. Co-workers could not stop raving about this place and suggested we go there for lunch after our meeting. We were able to make last minute reservations for our party of 8 and was close enough to walk over from the training center. All of the locals seemed to have lots of recommendations and loved everything they had previously. Seemed like I could not go wrong. I finally narrowed down my choices to the Buttermilk Chicken Sandwich or the Shrimp Burger to have something different that over the last few days. The server told me I couldn't go wrong with either but said she liked the Shrimp Burger best. The Shrimp Burger was similar to a crab cake but less filler and more shrimp. Incredible! Ate here for our first time tonight for a pre birthday dinner and I have to say it was a great choice. We weren't feeling any of the appetizers so we went straight to ordering our main dishes. I got the banh mi salad which was a bit tangy, which may have been from the sesame soy vinaigrette or the lime I squeezed onto it, who knows but it was still delicious. It comes with a protein of choice. I got grilled chicken which was a little dry. I wish I chose seared shrimp. It was light and fresh so I wasn't weighed down after eating it. What I came on here to comment about was the shrimp burger. Man was it incredibly delicious! Instead of a burger patty, the patty is of shrimp. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. Even the buns were good, must of been the butter or whatever they spread on it. Also the fries were so good. The spicy mayo sauce is really good to add to the burger but I used it to dip our fries. I totally recommend this dish and also this restaurant. Our server was nice and helpful. I want to come back tomorrow just to order the shrimp burger and fries dish. The picture I took does not do it justice nor does it show the deliciousness of the food. My mouth is salivating just thinking of the shrimp patty. So why only three stars? Well I compare the tomato pie to taurant states their goal is and how they measure up to that goal for the value. Another way of saying that is, I look up the restaurant's own words about what they are trying to do and then measure them against their stated intention. So what does Kitchen Sync say? "Kitchen Sync is a soulful neighborhood restaurant offering farm-fresh, scratch-made fare served with extraordinary hospitality." They want a place where customers can "call it their own." KS also gives back 2% of every order into the community. So good marks to KS on all of the above. I came in for lunch looking to have a Bahn Mi sandwich, but our excellent server convinced me to go with the day's special of tomato pie and "Holly" side salad (with cashews and Granny Smith apples). The tomato pie was a not as traditional as being in a pie crust but was more akin to a pizza-like pastry. It was good, but not outstanding. I probably would not order it again. The side salad was a LOT of salad and it seemed like a lot of work to eat. So why only three stars? Well I compare the tomato pie to the best tomato pie I ever have had at Grits & Groceries in Belton. It too is a farm to table concept and their tomato pie was so good I ordered two to go at $8.00 each and drove them back to Greenville for later. I had in mind that I might order a KS version to go, but it didn't meet that standard and it was $17.30 also, by the way. For a slice of tomato pie and side salad, no drink. With tip, $20. Well KS, I like what you are doing and want to support the cause, but for a simple lunch, I can get similar at multiple places for half that cost. The 35 cents that went to support the local community is appreciated, though. read more
