This was the grand opening day to a brand new sizable restaurant in a lovely small upscale town center, close to the interstate, with free parking options within a couple blocks.
INTERIOR/VIBE: Modern decor, open concept, brightly lit, lively, resort casual, large bar area with a couple TVs, very comfortable seating at tables, tables nicely spaced apart, some of the lighting where spotlights were positioned overhead are too bright (just depends on where your table is located).
Note: Extremely loud (more that most places) to carry on a conversation, however, there is an outdoor patio in the rear. If sound bouncing hard surfaces is a challenge, perhaps be there as soon as doors open, or might try dining in-between lunch and dinner, on a week day. I suggest reservations especially on weekends.
SERVICE: Really stands out! Our main server, Brian M., was exceptional, helpful with selections, and genuinely friendly. Each table has a team of very attentive servers, making sure glasses are filled and soiled plates removed efficiently. The managers were walking around greeting patrons and making sure everything ran smoothly. They welcomed suggestions and questions, which was refreshing.
FOOD: There is a nice variety of fresh and flavorful items on the menu, reasonably priced, portions ample for lunch, dinner, and brunch on certain days of the week. They also have a nice happy hour starting earlier than most, which has special offerings for starters and beverages. The food came out expediently.
We were a party of four, and loved all of the Starters we shared, which were quite filling, by the way. STARTERS: Cheddar Scallion Biscuits, very popular, light and fluffy, with a crunchy bottom, 5 small ones served in a piping hot cast iron skillet, savory with a hint of sweetness, paired with delicious whipped honey butter. Eggplant meatballs were tender, and came with a Moroccan tomato sauce with arugula pesto and cilantro, a twist of flavor, served with french toast slices. The meatballs actually paired very well with the next started: Whipped Feta, a light and delicious spread, served with buttered french toast slices. Korean BBQ Cauliflower, served with a glaze that was a nice mixture of slightly sweet with a hint of spiciness.
ENTREE: Crab Encrusted Cod, very fresh, baked to perfection, perfectly flaky, ample portion, served with a flavorful mixture of charred corn, zucchini, cauliflower rice, and farro enhanced with a honey lime drizzle. Some of my dinner mates had one of the salmon dishes, very enjoyed, the pork chop option, said was quite tender, and I think was served with sweet potatoes.
SHARED DESSERTS: Brown Sugar Cake was devine, light, fluffy moist butter cake, sinfully delicious, just sweet enough, served with cinnamon whipped cream and a variety of fresh berries. Ample portion for one serving, and probably one of the best dessert choices!
Banana Caramel Cake was more dense (too much for my preference), however, nice that is was not too sweet, served with chopped fresh bananas on top and whipped cream, ample portion for one, actually not my favorite, would not order again.
Chocolate Cake, with marscapone and a hint of caramel and pretzel crunch. Not bad, just Meh! I would not order this one again either, as I prefer cake that is more moist, soft, with a richer more decadent dark chocolate flavor than this one.
BEVERAGES: There is a menu of a variety specialty, cleverly named mixed beverages with liquor or served virgin. There is are a good variety of red and white wines. I had a very tasty and refreshing tropical mixed drink that was listed on the menu, made with a mixture of bourbon, vodka, and a fruity liqueur, served with an enjoyable dark cherry. The server suggested it, being that I'm not much of a heavy drinker, however, will enjoy an occasional light girly fruity concoction. He said it was not very potent, however, that is a matter of opinion, because after several sips, I definitely felt the buzz punch.
I am looking forward to patronizing this establishment once again, to try more menu options, which seemed to be rather southern-inspired, with a twist. I will choose to attend when hopefully, less crowded, because of the decibel levels, or will try dining in the outdoor patio area. However, we enjoyed the dining experience and were having way too much fun! Bon Appetite! read more
