Their risotto was so good. We were so impressed with this place!! They have different sauces that you can try out and we tried the sweet chili one, the chimichurri, and the peri peri. Impressed! I had high expectations and Kitchen Eighty Eight exceeded them! Its the cutest shop, lots of seating, natural light. Upscale counter service. Perfect for a girls lunch date or date night dinner. I ordered the chicken sando. We got the chicken tacos (great, but my wife says the steak are better from a previous visit), the BC burger, a kids' grilled cheese, a churro, and the apple crisp. We tried this for the first time but we were not impressed. The food was very expensive and the only thing any of our family liked were the fries. The burger was difficult to eat, the top bun was really large, the tacos were odd and the "coleslaw" is just shredded cabbage. There was no sauce on the tacos, it was very dry. Yum. This place is new and we've heard about their truck for months! So we've driven by it for months waiting for it to open. Then the first time we went in it was an hour wait! What!?!? Which was fine - but tells me the restaurant prioritizes walk in traffic over mobile. Huge mistake today. No updates were available through the provided link until just before 8:00p. We called the restaurant, gave them our order number and name, and were assured the food was being prepared. Then an online update showed up with a driver (evidently from Door Dash) and a slightly delayed time. Then a text from some SMS short cut indicating a longer delay. A check on the website showed a new driver assigned. We called the restaurant, and they said a driver already picked up the order and they didn't know what to tell the second driver who was now at the restaurant. Total cluster. That being said it's hipster and the tables turn over fairly quickly so waits aren't too bad. If you live in the area consider takeout instead and eat at home they're not stingy on the takeout portions like some places they give you a full dish still so that's a way to avoid the wait.Cobb Salad is delightful I've had it twice it's a meal salad be prepared for that it's not a side salad. Granny Smith Salad I've had once and it's bright, tasty, fun alternative to a regular house salad. They've got a serious seating issue but if you had to order then sit on cut glass while you waited, the food would make it worth it. I hit this place every single week at least once. Whether it be cut dine-in or takeout it's my favorite go to of choice right now. I've lost count of how many friends I've sent or taken here. I love that their food is fresh yet always feels like a treat. Generous portions, a wide menu with lots of variety, and pretty fast service (there's usually a line). Friends have tried the Chicken on a Bun and the Beet Salad, but I've never wavered from the Steak Tacos with Sweet Potato Fries. So my many places scrimp on the protein, especially with beef. K88 gives you a good amount of chunks of tenderloin (guessing) grilled to medium (a little bit of pink). They grill the tortillas with the cheese, so the cheese takes on a stronger flavor. Hard to describe. Their sweet potatoes are done just right too. Not too thick which usually ends up fleshy but thick enough to stay tender on the inside yet crisp on the outside. I haven't regretted my standard order yet. A cutie of tips, if it end up wanting to dine in, go early. Especially in the weekend. To be safe go right at 5 so you don't have to wait. Same with lunch. Beat the lunch rush but getting there by 11:30. This place always fills up. And if you want to order takeout which I've always done online, order at least 2 just ahead of your ideal pick up time. They available times for pick up, and the longer to wait to order the latter you'll have to pick up. BTW they keep all prepared orders ready for pick up in a warmer near the register, so you're not left with cold food if you're running late.
