My first impression of the restaurant was nice, but while waiting for our food I saw a member of the staff stick his pinky finger up his nose!! He just proceeded to rub his nose multiple times and then immediately touch and grab plates of food!! I saw the supervisor very nonchalantly say something to said nose picker, but he did not wash his hands and proceeded to touch food. This was particularly concerning considering that it is currently cold and flu season, so I asked another employee if I could speak to the manager. We had the steak and thatcher burger. I really wanted to like this place, but the burger and the steak fell flat! We weren't asked how we wanted the steak cooked and it was a little more on the medium-well side which isn't how I prefer steak. Additionally, the only flavor was in the sauce, which I'll admit was probably a poor choice in sauce for a steak. The burger was super sloppy and the patty just kept slipping out, when I finally was able to get an actual bite the patty itself lacked flavor and definitely was disappointing for $13.50. When I began writing this review I felt 4 stars was right for Kitchen Eighty Eight because I try to reserve that 5th star for the places that blow me away, and while my meal here was very good I didn't quite feel blown away. But as I thought about it, I couldn't deny that they did everything right. If you want a steak dinner for lunch and don't have a lot of time, where do you go? How can it possibly be executed in a way that does your steak or your schedule justice? Kitchen Eighty Eight knows the way. The tri tip steak with mashed potatoes and green beans were delicious. Particularly the steak. Seared perfectly, but medium rare throughout - it was extremely tender and juicy; melt-in-your-mouth tender. It's cubed, which solves the problem of needing steak knives and dinnerware to process meat and potatoes. Any sauce you choose (sweet chili in my case) should be requested on the side because it can overpower the meat - which should be a crime for how succulent the steak was. In the end, I just couldn't deny them that 5th star for a perfectly executed steak lunch. And, they come to you...that's got to be worth at least 2 stars by itself! read more

Didn't look at the reviews before I came here but if I had I probably would have been much more disappointed. My first impression was the grilled chicken tenders I ordered for my daughter, it was simply a chicken breast cut into two VERY large, and very bland pieces. The dish was served with no sauce but they provided bbq sauce when I asked which made it palatable. My order was just as disappointing. I ordered the Thatcher burger which looked really flavorful and was anything but... juicy well cooked burger but no flavor on the meat itself, and the sauce and cheese didn't provide flavor either. The fries were very good and definitely one of the saving graces of the meal. Garnished with finishing salt and chopped parsley, the outside was crispy and golden with a fluffy inside. They did serve fry sauce with my fries which was good as well. The strawberry balsamic lemonade was good as well. Looking retrospectively the fried risotto balls look very good but I don't think returning for that alone would be worth it based on the other dishes we had. read more

Which was fine - but tells me the restaurant prioritizes walk in traffic over mobile. Huge mistake today. No updates were available through the provided link until just before 8:00p. We called the restaurant, gave them our order number and name, and were assured the food was being prepared. Then an online update showed up with a driver (evidently from Door Dash) and a slightly delayed time. Then a text from some SMS short cut indicating a longer delay. A check on the website showed a new driver assigned. We called the restaurant, and they said a driver already picked up the order and they didn't know what to tell the second driver who was now at the restaurant. Total cluster. Due to way too many people working around Thanksgiving Point, I found myself driving in circles trying to find parking. Eventually I gave up on the first set of restaurants and started for the next, when I saw Kitchen 88 in a hotel parking lot without a line. Desperate to be the first to review, I quickly found parking and walked over. The truck describes itself as "modern american fare". They offer sandwiches, meat off the grill, sides including fries, sweet potato fries, parmesan risotto, and a few others, as well as salads and desserts. Each sandwich or grill meat comes with a sauce. Choices include peri-peri, BBQ, sweet mustard, chimmichurri, and sweet chili. It was a Friday, so I thought I would go a little wild with some chimmichurri (which I believe is an Argentinian sauce from past experience). I decided to try the Off the Grille meal, for $9, which comes with a choice of protein, sauce, and side. I went with the tri-tip steak, the above mentioned chimmichurri, and fries. I also decided to try a Chocolate Hazelnut Cheesecake dessert, complete with an oreo crust. The food came out fast. There wasn't much of a line, but I think that was more due to location and newness of the truck. They will need to park along the road in a more visible spot if they expect more business, I only happened to stumble on it after noticing that no one was in the usual food truck spot and trying to go somewhere else. For my $12 ($9 for the meal, $3 for the dessert), I got a medium sized box filled with steak, french fries, and a side of fry sauce. The steak was really good, especially with the chimmichurri sauce on it. The fries were pretty good as well. Everything tasted very fresh. The only problem is that there wasn't much of it. 30 minutes after eating and I'm still feeling a little hungry. I'm not a big guy and don't eat a ton. The price felt a little high for the quantity, but the quality was definitely great. Including something like a piece of toast or roll or something would go a long way towards making me feel a little more full and a little more satisfied with what I paid. The fry sauce was good, but ran out quickly, and left me with no sauce and some thick remaining fries. The cheesecake was fantastic. The perfect taste and sweetness in a little cup. Well worth the $3 for it. Every bite was light and delicious, but not too sweet. I really enjoyed it and highly recommend it. Overall it was a good experience, but costly. I'll go back soon and try one of their sandwich options as that sounds a little more filling. The chef there definitely has some training, and I imagine the rest of the menu tastes good. It's definitely worth a try, especially if you can avoid all the long lines elsewhere around the area they are in. read more
