I was lucky enough to receive "The Fourth Trimester Subscription" package from my dad as a postpartum present. My father had asked me how he could help and what he could give as a postpartum gift and I had immediately responded "Kitchen Doula!". He got me the "Extra Pampering Package with Meat," and every 2 weeks for 12 weeks I was pampered. This was an ABSOLUTE LIFESAVER, especially during the first few postpartum weeks, but even into months two and three. I felt SO LUCKY and well cared for. We requested that the first delivery come before the baby's due date just in case she came early. When the baby came, we had tons of stews, soups, lactation cookies, nuts, granola, tea, and an herbal sitz bath mix ready to go for when we got home. It was not only amazing for me, but also for my husband to have delicious, nutritious food ready to go so that we could focus on the baby without stressing out about getting groceries and cooking while sleep deprived and overwhelmed. We particularly loved the Chicken Veggie Soup, Chicken Ginger Soup, Yemenite Beef Stew, the Chili, and the lactation cookies, which we kept in the freezer so we wouldn't eat all of them at once. They are too good. The granola was also a fantastic snack that kept me going if I needed a little bite during a midnight feeding. We loved that Tali lets you request specific foods and customize your order, so if you have favorites you can order those. I am forever grateful for Tali/Kitchen Doula. I am 12 weeks postpartum as of yesterday, and have one more frozen soup in the freezer. I feel like I have graduated from the Fourth Trimester and couldn't have planned a better postpartum recovery. Tali cooked for my roommate and I (along with some other trainees) as we attended an intense yoga teacher training. The food went so far beyond our expectations -- each meal featuring fresh, beautiful flavors and so much variation. I felt energized and alert for each day (which included 3.5-hour morning yoga classes!). The meals were so thoughtful and delectable that they became one of my favorite parts of the training. This service is awesome. It's like having your mom cook for you every week! The food is fresh and healthy, but very delicious. Tali used to be a desert chef, so she really knows what she is doing. She even took my special order and made a pie for my husband for his birthday! Her food has so much flavor, and the menu items are always so creative. I love the snacks and add ons, like cookies, brownies, fresh juice, etc. And my husband enjoys all the standard stuff--meatballs, sausages, beef stir fry. But Tali also gets so creative with squash vegetables, farro, kale, and all the cool new things the kids are eating nowadays :) If you have a picky eater at home, and want to eat home cooked meals--this is the food service for you. I started this food delivery service as a way to pamper myself as I healed from a c-section. With my previous pregnancy I found I did not have the energy to prepare food for myself and my poor spouse was just as exhausted as I was. I feel that the lack of healthy food options affected my health and well-being. I found Kitchen Doula while doing a search for a doula (again trying to build up that support system) and the reviews were outstanding. What a great service for new moms! I have been with Tali for about eight weeks and each week I am astounded by the quality and flavors of the food that she sends. It is high quality, nourishing, tasty and sooooo easy. I am able to warm up things like delicious soups and slow roasted meats and have refreshing salads at my fingertips. No cooking and no cleaning! Most importantly, I feel great and I have the energy to care for and nourish my baby. Tali's menus are diverse and I have been introduced to new flavors and textures that I now love and crave. I highly recommend Kitchen Doula! As a new mom with limited time to cook, and with takeout food not necessarily being the best food for you- this service is a wonderful option. Tali brought us such generous portions of soup, meals, and fruit. She says you can freeze some things, but we ended up eating it all.
