So upon calling the two closest pool supply stores one had to order it and the other who had it in stock had an employee who was clueless and a smug manager. So I called Tamara at Backyard Water and I had everything I needed, along with a discount, by the afternoon. We had ordered 2 short on the sand so she made it up to me for a true display of great customer service. I'll never step in Pinch a Penny again as this was not the first time that I had a bad experience there. I'll be glad to drive totally across town in order to deal with quality customer service driven people like Tamara at Backyard Water pool supplies.

Do not use this company. We hired them a few years ago to redo our entire pool deck. After about…read moreseveral months of absolutely no progress (I mean nobody showing up or calling for that entire period) they finally admitted they didn't have the equipment to complete the work. Then earlier this year, our warranty company assigned them as the contractor to replace our pool heater when it broke down. They sold us a unit at a discount because it was an older model but they promised it had never been taken out of the box. This new heater has not worked correctly since installation. It shuts off with error messages every time I run it. I contacted the manufacturer as it is still under warranty with them, but unfortunately they sent out Florida Leisure to "fix" it. First their technicians told me that the unit was too big for my system, in which case then why did they install that unit? But then they said it was a water flow issue and said there was nothing they could do to help. So that's it. I'm going to have to pay out-of-pocket for somebody to come and test the sensors, etc. Or I may have to replace the entire unit.

I'm based in New Jersey with an Airbnb property in Ocala, and my local pool maintenance team said the part would take a week to get. Thanks to Cheanay's dedication and going the extra mile, we got it immediately. Because of her, Ocala Pool Boys has earned my business from here on out. Consumers, you are getting ripped off if you are buying the gallon jugs of Salinity Acid at…read morePinch-A-Penny. Early in the year, when I went to buy some Muriatic Acid, they had a new product on the shelf. I asked the employees about it and they said to buy the Salinity acid because it was the same product. Products are always changing so I didn't think anything about it. The problem was, I couldn't really get my PH under control. I've had my 22K pool since 2004, have done the chemicals myself (SaltPool) AND IT usually takes between 1 qt to 1.3 qts of acid each week. Well, here I was using an entire gallon of the new improved acid every week. I finally did some research on Salinity Acid only to find out that it's concentration of Muriatic Acid is only between 5 to 10% compared to the industry standard of 33-35%. Worse even is the price that they're charging for the Salinity Acid, around $12.50 I believe whereas the normal full strength Acid was $11.50 or $11.99. I've reached out to the owner, unfortunately haven't heard from them. Besides the aggravation of not having my PH balanced properly most of the spring until now, it's that I've been paying extra money (paying anywhere from $.50 to $1.00 more per jug) but buying 3 X the amount of gallon jugs that I normally use. They do still carry the normal Muriatic Acid, you just have to ask for it. If you don't believe me on this, just ask your A.I. It's a true story. It's a sad day when you can't trust a business especially after doing business with them for 22 years. The old owner, Doc was a really good owner and I'm hopeful that the owner of this store is a stand-up person too. We'll find out. Stay tuned for another episode. Thanks.
