I found the same (exactly the same) item on Amazon for $8 + $4.50 shipping. I'm totally cool with paying a couple bucks more for the great convenience and service they provide but greater than 5X is crazy. Lesson learned however, I ordered my $299 at Pinch a Penny filter on Amazon for $170!

Consumers, you are getting ripped off if you are buying the gallon jugs of Salinity Acid at…read morePinch-A-Penny. Early in the year, when I went to buy some Muriatic Acid, they had a new product on the shelf. I asked the employees about it and they said to buy the Salinity acid because it was the same product. Products are always changing so I didn't think anything about it. The problem was, I couldn't really get my PH under control. I've had my 22K pool since 2004, have done the chemicals myself (SaltPool) AND IT usually takes between 1 qt to 1.3 qts of acid each week. Well, here I was using an entire gallon of the new improved acid every week. I finally did some research on Salinity Acid only to find out that it's concentration of Muriatic Acid is only between 5 to 10% compared to the industry standard of 33-35%. Worse even is the price that they're charging for the Salinity Acid, around $12.50 I believe whereas the normal full strength Acid was $11.50 or $11.99. I've reached out to the owner, unfortunately haven't heard from them. Besides the aggravation of not having my PH balanced properly most of the spring until now, it's that I've been paying extra money (paying anywhere from $.50 to $1.00 more per jug) but buying 3 X the amount of gallon jugs that I normally use. They do still carry the normal Muriatic Acid, you just have to ask for it. If you don't believe me on this, just ask your A.I. It's a true story. It's a sad day when you can't trust a business especially after doing business with them for 22 years. The old owner, Doc was a really good owner and I'm hopeful that the owner of this store is a stand-up person too. We'll find out. Stay tuned for another episode. Thanks.

When this store was Backyard Water just a few short months ago the service was absolutely stellar…read more I was on a first name basis with all the employees there and there were always plenty of people to help no matter the time of day. They also kept in stock all of my pool supplies like Tyler Technologies reagents. After Leslie's took over they had a different computer system installed which when you read the fine print, doesn't keep your personal information private, their T&C's actually say they'll sell your information to other parties! The old employees are now no longer there any of the times that I've visited, and quite often there's only one overworked employee manning the store. One Saturday morning I had to wait almost 30 minutes to get help with the leaking Chlorine jugs that the store sold us two days prior. When I came in with all of the jugs on the cart and said I need help at least one of them is leaking the employee said "What do you want me to do about it?" From my perspective, Leslie's is milking the reputation that Tamara, Amber, Thomas and team worked so hard to build for all it's worth. At the same time providing Costco-style service where it seems like there's never anyone to help when you need them, but instead of being a discount store, you're paying full retail prices! I'm in the process of trying to find a different local pool supply store with good customer service and I suggest you do the same. EDIT: Oh and one last thing, the pictures are not even of the local store, they're stock Leslies photos! Come on Leslie's, lets treat your customers with respect and actually be an honest contributor to the local economy.
