When a couple of legitimate BBQ pit masters setup shop in NYC you've got to take notice and make your way on that line! Chuck Charnichart of Barbs B Q, in Lockhart AND Jonny White of Goldee's in Fort Worth, have won numerous awards apart and together as a team as part of Goldee's. "Chuck" recently won the 2025 Michelin Guide Texas Young Chef/Culinary Professional Award and her restaurant is anointed as the best restaurant in Lockhart by Michelin and received a James Beard nomination. Of course anyone who knows BBQ knows Goldee's in Fort Worth which had previously been bestowed the honor of being the best BBQ in all of Texas by Texas Monthly which is a huge feat! When I heard Kirbee's was opening in Greenpoint Brooklyn in the old spot vacated by Peeps Kitchen I was marking the days before I'd sink my teeth into that famous Beef Rib from Goldee's that I missed out on from my trip to Fort Worth last year. It did not disappoint in terms of texture, richness, and smoke! The meat was fall apart tender with a strong smoke and definitely rich! It was a little pricey but $90 for a huge rib that could feed 2 easily or 3 with a lighter appetites. The sausage and pork ribs from Chuck's plate was great. The Molotov flavor was unique and probably added to the tenderness of the meat. The brisket wasn't necessarily my favorite, but was fork tender and juicy. For the sides, the green spaghetti was spicy but in a great way. The coleslaw was definitely crisp and lightly dressed. Seating is tight, there are about 6-7 tables inside which are a squeeze for group of 4. Elbow room is needed so a group of 2 is better. Service was super friendly! Got a chance to meet both which was icing on the cake. The team was friendly and ready for the challenge of a line that wrapped 1/4 around the corner.

If you have any kind of self respect, you'll eat here!

If you love variety, Hot Stix is one of the best restaurants where you can get hot pot, bbq…read moreskewers, and grilled fish or mala dry pot for $48.99 per person. While it's a pricier meal, all the food that you get is well worth it. I really loved how many different kind of meat, seafood, veggies, and more that they have. The fact that it's all on skewers makes cooking and eating easy. It's truly such a wonderful dining experience. We came with a large party of 11 and we were more than satisfied. Everything was delicious and I love how easy it is to get more skewers on your own. They also have a large selection of drinks from soy milk to herbal teas. In the end, you also get ice cream although the flavors are pretty basic here. Note that if you pay in cash, you get free durian, which is nice and creamy.

We got the hotpot and skewers combo and the experience was quite nice and different. We ordered the soup base for hotpot with the workers and the skewers as well. All the hotpot items are in the fridge in the back along with the drinks which is also included in the price (all you can drink). We ordered skewers and whatever offerings that came with this option and then went to get stuff for hotpot. I think they have a good enough variety and the fun part is to put the sticks in the hotpot and eat off of it as well. WIth the skewers options, I think each person gets a scallop with vermicelli but we didnt know and we asked for seconds (whooops). the lady was nice enough to give it to us anyway. The workers are super attentive and very helpful. As for drink options, they have a variety of sodas, wong lo jie, fruity drinks. I was def happy even though I tried not to drink too much. They also have "snacks" on the back side by the drink fridge that you can help yourself to. Will definitely be back to try the grilll fish option!

Friendly neighborhood place with ok barbecue. There is seating inside and outside the restaurant…read more They didn't notice us when we first walked in and took a little bit before someone came to seat us. But once they seated us they immediately gave us menus and told us what items they didn't have thaf evening like the salmon and candies bacon. We weren't going to order that anyway so that wasn't an issue. My husband and I split a trinity platter which was sausage, brisket, and ribs. My husband also got a side of sweet corn. The food came relatively quick. So the barbecue was ok, not the best or the worse we never had. We've been spoiled by good Texas barbecue and probably even Dinosaur barbecue out in Harlem. However, if you're in the area already and wanted barbecue this isnt a bad place to go. The sausage had lots of flavor but it was entirely too salty, almost painfully so. The brisket was average and needed tge sauce for flavor. The best were the ribs. It wasn't fall off the bone, had some chew and was still tender. There wasn't a lot of smoke flavor on the meat, just a hint. The pickle and cornbread help cut the fat. My husband said the corn was ok. We were surprised that it came as a corn on the cob and covered with light mayonnaise and seasoning.
