The only thing that could compare to those humble prices were the street tacos that I love out in LA. I could tell the vendor had a rhythm that he's picked up through years of experience. I tried the lamb, beef, and chicken. The chicken was my favorite of the three!

If we didn't check what we got we would have been missing one. They were able to give another lamb skewer for us though, but unfortunately didn't get to try what we originally ordered. The meat was well seasoned with cumin and other spices, but some of the lamb pieces I had were largely fatty and hard to chew. A good place to stop by for a quick snack, though there are better skewer shops in Flushing

Our hotel is right across the street. It was day 4 and we were packing for our return flight. I decided to have dinner around our hotel and Dallas BBQ just showed up first thing on my search. Here is the deal. for less than $60 buck, we got 2 decent trays of BBQ. This is NYC time square prime location. I just paid $19 dollars for a simple regular chipotle bowl + a bottle soda. Somehow, Dallas BBQ can sell banging meals for decent price. I think that this is even cheaper than some SoCal BBQ places for the amount of food we receive. Everything is decent to delicious and the wait time was good. Thanks Dallas BBQ Time Square for showing up!

We visited on a Friday shortly before 5 p.m. and were seated right away. Our server was wonderful from start to finish. She walked us through the menu, explained the specials, offered her personal recommendations, answered our questions, and remained attentive throughout our visit. We started with the Nachos, and these were a solid 10/10! Packed with meat and all the toppings, they were incredibly flavorful. We added a drizzle of BBQ sauce, which took them to another level. Absolutely chef's kiss! I ordered the Caesar salad with BBQ pulled chicken. The chicken was delicious, and the salad was generously portioned. They did add cheddar cheese, which wasn't really my preference, but next time I'll just ask for it on the side. Otherwise, no complaints! My friend ordered the BBQ platter with ribs and brisket, and let me tell you, those ribs were something special. They literally fell off the bone. Some of the most tender ribs I've ever had! Honestly, they're flavorful enough that you don't even need sauce. The collard greens were also delicious and made for a great side. And the sweet tea! If you enjoy authentic, freshly brewed Southern sweet tea, you'll appreciate this. It was so good! The atmosphere was another highlight. Great music, a nice bar area, and a really good overall vibe. There's also an upstairs, although we were seated on the main floor, so I'll have to check that out next time. The restaurant was clean, service was excellent, and everything made for an enjoyable experience. Overall, Virgil's definitely exceeded my expectations. Great food, generous portions, wonderful service, and a fun atmosphere. The BBQ is chef's kiss, and I'll definitely be back! Highly recommend!

Since our program covered the expenses, we didn't pay anything out of pocket. Now I enjoy a good BBQ cookout at home as much as the next family, but don't care for it as a dining experience. My employer catered BBQ luncheons from time to time, and even then I wasn't crazy about it. Here in Hill Country, a room was reserved for us (party of 36). Our dinnerware resembled army mess tins lined with sanitary papers; our glasses resembled moonshine jars complete with screw threads at the rim for lids. Our dinner was a catered set of longhorn cheddar mac & cheese (quite good), sliced brisket (meh), market chicken (a little tough), fresh baked cornbread (dry & hard) and collard greens (good but could be saltier). I consumed massive amounts of mac & cheese and collared greens to help swallow down the almost rock-hard cornbread. Desert was chocolate chip cookies (that wasn't bad). Some members of the group ordered liquor (at their own expense) to celebrate the good time they were having. Customer service was less than stellar. The waitress did not inform us that soft drinks were complimentary until after we finished eating. That wasn't all. The restroom was located downstairs past the bar room. During my two visits - before and after the food was served - the same staff member was there cleaning. He had just finished the sinks when I went in the first time. On the second visit, the front door was blocked from the inside by a pail - he was mopping the floor. Couldn't he have waited till the off-peak hours to do that?? Customer service and cornbread were enough for me to not recommend this restaurant.

One thing I really appreciated was how good their ventilation system is. Unlike most Korean BBQ restaurants, you don't leave smelling like grilled meat, which is a huge plus! The best part? They cook the meat for you! Our server was amazing and made the entire experience feel so effortless. We could just sit back, relax, and enjoy our meal without worrying about cooking anything ourselves. A few things worth mentioning: The restaurant is on the third floor of the 315 office building, which was a little tricky to find at first. The elevator is also extremely cramped. It might fit a wheelchair, but I honestly wouldn't count on it without checking first. On the bright side, we had no issues walking in without a reservation! Overall, such a great experience! Great service, nice atmosphere, and no smelling like BBQ afterward. Would absolutely recommend and visit again!

I think the drink I loved was the Bomb Pop or something similar, it was bright blue and super sweet and very delicious. I got one both nights. I also tried another sweet drink that was very good but can't remember what it was. Husband also enjoyed his drinks. Sorry, I know this is less than helpful for the rest of you but at least I'll remember they had "my kind of cocktails" when I next go to NY and review my own reviews. Service was hit or miss; when we sat at the bar the service was definitely better. At the tables, we waited and waited and waited for the server to come back and eventually I gave up and went to the bar to place my second round order. On our second visit we did hear the manager giving the bartender crap for telling someone where to find the bathroom. I didn't love that; you should not be trying to guess whether someone is going to be a customer or not based on their appearance and if the manager wants to do that it's on them, I think it's totally inappropriate to ask the bartender to gatekeep like that. The ambiance is pretty typical sports bar, seats at the bar and high top tables in the front, I think some regular dining tables in the back. I'd definitely come back to get another Bomb Pop or whatever it was called, maybe try food if I was craving a burger.

I came at happy hour. 7pm. Friday night. Bar area was packed. Good sign. Other areas busy. Also a good sign. They let me order happy hour even though they have to seat me around the corner from the bar. Very kind of them. And the manager also seemed like a very nice guy. I ordered 3 items from the happy hour menu. Sliders / wings / tots. It was a long day, and I was starving. It takes an oddly long time to get my food. I realize that the waiter mis understood my wings order - no big deal. I try the sliders first. Bottom bun is hard. It was most certainly sitting under a heat lamp for 3ish hours. Maybe longer. Inedible. But I'm starving so I remove the bottom hard buns on both and eat them. They're not good. They're just bland and bad. I go for the tots. Grossly soggy. Flavor profile decent, but sogged out loaded tots defeats the purpose and I only have a few still undercooked bites before pushing it away. Lastly the wings - meh. There was confusion in the delivery - so that's not totally their fault but even so - meh, just not great. I asked for the check - waiter said: how was the food? I said: not good. But the service has been nice. Then I went around the block to Steal Frites and had a great experience. The end. P.s. maybe the regular ordered food that's not under a happy hour heat lamp is good, but I don't plan on returning to find out.
