I went to pick up my wedding gown from Unbridaled and wept with tears. I unfortunately had gained a whole LOT of weight and didn't even realize how much until my gown arrived. I was in shear panic mode...here it was the end of May and my wedding was the first week of August. I had lost weight quickly before since I have a tiny frame, but then panic was real. They recommend that I call Kira and LUCKILY she was able to fit me in!! If you can I would make your appointment with her as soon as you order your dress and have a round about time when it should arrive. My friend tried to book with her a few days after me and she was already filled up, and trust me you want her to work on your dress! The first appointment I went to with her was two weeks after my dress had arrived, and I had worked my butt off dieting and working out. We almost got it to zip, so there was hope! We discussed many options though including adding a corset (which I didn't want to do at all) and she assured me after looking that should could let it out at least an inch or two if needed. She told me to keep doing what I was doing as she could see the difference and I continued to work hard. She was so kind and helpful when it came to talking about my options and my EXTREMELY tight deadline. We scheduled another appointment four weeks later, and luckily the dress zipped up! My dress was ordered custom length due to my extreme shortness so luckily with my shoes I didn't need my hemline done. My bustle was something I was concerned with with my dress have a lace train. She was so patient and walked me through so many options and we finally found that was easy and looked great! At my final fitting I asked if she could let it out slightly so I could breathe, and she was able to give me about 3/4 of an inch so the dress still hugged my curves perfectly, but I was able to breathe in it and be comfortable all night. Her work was seamless and no one would have ever know that my dress had been let out! I would highly recommend her to anyone, because she can work wonders! She was so patient and sweet and wonderful to me, during what could be an extremely stressful ordeal. Honestly I am so glad I didn't bring any girlfriends or my mom to my fitting because she was so perfect and calming and honest about my dress! TRUST ME! JUST TRUST HER! She knows exactly what she is doing and won't point you in the wrong direction! Also I was expecting to spend so much on my alterations and my cost was not nearly that bad for what I had budgeted. However just keep in mind I did not need my dress hemmed. I highly recommend her! read more

This is so long overdue but life is crazy and now I have time. I purchased my dress at Unbridaled and was given the name of a seamstress that they work with quite often. Unfortunately when I called her she was booked but she referred me to Kira. Kira was a dream to work with from the beginning. I had 4 (I think) fittings and they were all so quick and easy. Her shop is adorable, I loved going to visit her. I lost quite a bit of weight after the first fitting (which is usually the biggest one) and when I went to try it on for the second fitting it almost fell off of me. Kira didn't panic and was able to fix it. The week of the wedding I went to try it on one last time and the chest area was not fitting right at all. I panicked naturally since I had to leave the very next day ... Kira was calm and collected and assured me it would all be fine. She was right. She did a great job fitting my gown and we discussed the bustle. I knew it was going to be heavy and that there was going to be lots of dancing so I asked her to make sure she really made sure it would hold. Literally one song into the dance party and my entire bustle snapped. I carried my gown, which was a great arm workout, so that it didn't just drag the entire night. I didn't let it get me down but was disappointed. Alterations are expensive...that good ole wedding markup, which hell I didn't even mind paying for my big day, but I expected it to hold. read more

I had an 'ok' experience at Kira Kouture - and it makes me sad to write this review as I can only imagine how hard it is to alter wedding dresses. I will start this review by saying I spent around $600 at her shop and had to resort to a new seamstress to finish the alterations. I was referred to Kira from Unbridaled (where I purchased my wedding dress) and she was very quick to respond to my request. Like many others, I've never had a wedding dress altered and I knew when picking out my dress that I would need pretty specific alterations done in the bust area. My very first visit with Kira, I tried on my dress and immediately pointed out the area I wanted fixed (I wanted the bust area to look more natural and to take out some of the material). She seemed baffled I wanted to make that type of change to the dress and I started to feel like I was asking too much. We then took some measurements to take in the dress and add the bustle (Kira did a great job with the bustle)! I then went in for my second fitting & was grateful to Kira as I had written down the wrong day for the appointment but she was flexible to re schedule! I tried on the dress & still didn't feel great about the bust area - but didn't feel comfortable saying anything. The bustle looked great but the dress itself was still pretty baggy (it's a form fitting dress that should be very tight). We made a few more changes and I was set to pick it up the following week. During my final and 3rd fitting, I tried on the dress and it still felt kind of big. I mentioned that to Kira and she assured me that's okay as I don't want it to be too tight on my wedding day. I felt kind of rushed to get out of her shop as it was well after 5 PM so I paid the final payment, took my dress, and was done. Well... a few days later I decided to try on my dress at home and found myself in tears. The dress was baggy, the straps were falling off & the bust area made me want to cringe. I then sent over an email to Kira letting her know how I felt. During the time between my email to her and her response - I started looking into other places to go here in Austin. I found a seamstress very quickly who assured me she could help with the bust area, take out the wiring, and take in my dress. Kira then responded back to me letting me know she wanted to help fix my dress but "she isn't surprised I'm not happy with the boob part, that's the story of her life with that dress." I just wish she would have told me that when I came in. I've now been able to get the dress completely altered to how I wanted it, got the wiring removed from the bust area, and it has been taken in a few more inches - and all for under half the price Kira charged me. Kira has a great business and she's very diligent in her work - I wish her the best! read more

Kira is amazing and everyone should go to her for their bridal alterations. I bought my dress at Second Summer (also recommended) and they suggested I go to Kira. I decided to be savvy and shop around, which in this case just gave me unnecessary stress. Another alterations woman I spoke to quoted me $1200 of work on my dress -- this was more than the dress! I called Kira in a panic. Kira calmed me down, took a look at my dress, and gave me not just a MUCH more reasonable quote, but also told me that some of the changes this other woman wanted to do (and charge me for) were not at all necessary. This woman was trying to take me for a ride. Brides beware! People will use the emotional charge of your wedding to scam you! But not Kira! I went with Kira and was glad I did. Kira was affordable, a pleasure to work with, and took care in working with my wedding gown. Her work was BEAUTIFUL, and she was so patient with me when, after my second fitting, I ran back inside and asked to try on the dress one more time because I wanted to re-check the fit of something. I never felt rushed, and she was super happy to see my dress fitting exactly how I wanted it. Ladies, Kira wants you to look good! When I tried on that dress at my last fitting it was the most perfect fitting clothing I've ever had. The dress was made for me, and I loved it. I got so many compliments on the dress (I know, everyone always compliments the bride on her dress, but some people were so effusive with the praise it actually grew tedious!). I'm adding a few pictures so you all can see Kira's work -- our professional photos aren't back yet so these cell phone photos will have to do for now and I'll add better ones later. One to show what was clipped when I tried it on, and a couple others to show Kira's work. Two notes: 1) I was very lucky in that I didn't need any hemming on my dress. What Kira did do: take in the bust and hips; remove the Madonna stays from the chest and replace them with cups (I'm small chested, but with Kira's work I was able to go bra-less and still look like I had a chest); added an American bustle, complete with dummy-proof methods to make sure it was properly bustled. 2) Ladies - remember to eat during the week leading up to your wedding! When I'm stressed I forget to eat, or eat very little, and tragically this means that I lost juuuuust enough weight for my dress to be juuuust barely loose. My wedding was out of town, so there was no way anyone could have fixed this (except for me and a quart of ice cream). I doubt anyone but me noticed, but I mention it because if you look at the photos and it crosses your mind that the dress looks loose at all, that is 100% me and 0% Kira. Kira did magic. Kira is an absolute wedding savior! I bought my dress back in October of 2018 for my August 2019 wedding. I fell in love with it at first sight but when I went to pick it up a few months after ordering it was pretty upset with the way it looked on me. I feared I might have made a mistake and chosen the wrong dress. The fit was totally off, it didn't flatter my figure, etc. Enter Kira! She knew exactly what to do to transform my oversized, sloppy dress into the dress I'd initially fallen in love with many months ago. It came out better than I could have imagined. I feel compelled to write this as no other bride should deal with what I went through. Long story kind of short, I showed up to my final fitting 2 days before my wedding to find a black stain on the front of my dress that was caused during the alteration or steaming process as it was not on my dress during the 2 previous fittings. She attempted to get the stain out herself and unfortunately made it a lot worse. The entire day went by without her telling me or cancelling any other appointments to take it to an actually dry cleaners. I called her at 5pm on the Thursday before my Saturday wedding to find that it basically looked like coffee was spilled all over the front. After persuasion, she postponed her last appointment and took it to the dry cleaners of our choice which was about to close. Thank god Kim's Cleaners is THE BEST and was able to get the stain almost out of it the Friday before my Saturday wedding. While Kira did pay for the expensive cleaning and the alterations which were STILL needed at that point to fix the mistake her or someone at her shop made, she made no effort to check in on me personally, brain storm about alternatives or ways to cover the stain or offer any sort of refund. After requesting a full refund in order to make this right for the very poor customer service and me having to miss my rehearsal lunch because I didn't know if I'd have a dress or not, she offered me half back. Luckily, the store where I bought the dress was very accommodating and stayed after hours to brain storm with me about alternatives. I even brought my friend who works at a flower shop with me to see if she had any ideas about using live flowers to cover up the huge brown/yellow stain on the front of my dress. My dress also never truly fit. It was falling down during the whole wedding. Thank god my sister brought some amazing fabric tape with her so it would stay on. It's unfortunate to receive such poor customer experience on one of the most memorable days of your life. I thought maybe she was just having a terrible day when she was trying to get the stain out but her lack of check in and her response back was also poor. read more

"This woman is incredible. She is a dream to work with, so kind and patient. She's got some serious skills, in spite of her youthful glow. Above all, she is patient and passionate about what she does. Stop searching for someone to trust with your dress ~ SHE'S THE ONE!! Kira practically rebuilt my all-over-intricate-lace dress, litterally from top to bottom. She created a modified sweetheart neckline, invented a black flowered sash for me, altered the dress to have a tighter fit and flare, tulle and petticoats underneath to create the big poof at the bottom, a sexy french bustle, and brought up the hem on a very challenging dress. (the hem was all scalloped lace with a large train.) My visits to Kira were always quick but thorough and I always left feeling excited with my choice of seamstress. I'm convinced that Kira is a magician with a needle. Not only is she just a super sweet person, she also does amazing work. She did the alterations for my wedding dress and veil. The alterations were pretty standard, in at the side seams, installing a beautiful bustle, and shortening my veil, but it was all done with exceptional attention to detail and the gown looks like it came that way. My veil was originally a two tiered, lace edged, circle cathedral veil that was so long it stretched down almost the entire short aisle at our venue. Kira removed all of the lace along the bottom by hand, shortened it to a more reasonable floor length, and then replaced all the lace matching it up perfectly so it looks like it was that length all along. Since my wedding, she's been my go-to seamstress for little projects here and there and she has done beautiful work every time. She is communicative and everything she's done for me has been finished on time and at the original estimated cost. I can't recommend her highly enough! read more

I was referred to Kira by a local Austin bridal boutique (I purchased my gown in Houston) and double-checked with Yelp! I trusted those 5-star reviews but I was SO nervous about choosing a seamstress for my bridal gown alterations. It is the most expensive piece of clothing I have ever/will ever own so it was pretty scary to hand it over to a stranger with scissors. It also doesn't help that I'm detail-oriented and WILL notice if something is off. From the first email, Kira was very kind and responsive. She even reminded me that she had recently moved locations and made sure I had the correct address (check out her old business page for more awesome reviews). I knew that I needed my dress hemmed + French bustle but she also suggested that I take in the bust a tad as well. We all dread the armpit fat so I was hesitant to make it tighter. However, Kira definitely knew was she was doing and worked some dress magic. On my second fitting a few weeks later (Kira was on-time, organized, and ready to go), my dress fit like a glove. Total perfection. The hem with multiple fabric layers was flawless. The bust of the dress was taken in just enough to make it awesome. My bustle held strong the entire wedding reception despite tons of dancing. Bottom line: calm those nerves and book Kira. She's fantastic! read more

Taking the torso down so much changed how the sleeves would need to be altered, but Kira came up with a great solution that actually looked better in the end than when I first tried on the dress! Kira did a beautiful job altering my wedding dress: she let out the sides a bit, took off the train and hemmed it, and sewed in my dress topper. The final result was incredible: the stitching was beautiful and the dress hem fell so nicely, the side-seams she let out were basically invisible, and my dress fit me perfectly (even my very picky mother approved). Kira was also very accommodating and made room for me in her schedule when I needed to get my alterations finished earlier than I'd expected.
