So Disappointed. Came around lunch time and of course they were busy but we expected to wait. An hour later I asked the host how far down on the list we were and he had skipped right over us. His lack of empathy for making us wait and extra 30 minutes totally turned us off, and by this time our 3 kids were starving. Ordered our very over priced meal ($8 for kraft Mac n cheese?!?!?!) which took another 30-45 minutes to get to us. Husband and I had the pilewski.... green chili was definitely canned. Prices are high for the quality and quantity of food you get. The estaban tacos (with bacon added as extra) cost $12.95 and it's a child's portion. No salad or fixin's to go with it. It comes wrapped in a bird-shaped foil pack and we were wondering where the rest of the food was. Refills for soda are $1 each which we found out when the bill arrived! So 3 sodas cos near $12 and most of it was ice! Rip-off. Won't be going back. read more

Nice atmosphere and cold beer. But the food is seriously lacking and over priced for what you get. Shrimp taco's (ordered as a salad) was a small hand full of shrimp that were a little over cooked and gritty on iceberg lettuce, the fish in the fish tacos were also chewy and over seasoned to the point where everything just tasted spicy and lacked any kind of discernible flavor. We ordered just a plain grilled chicken breast for our 4 year old and they charged $9.95, as it were a chicken sandwich. Come on, $10 for a chicken breast....you can buy a 6lb bag of frozen chicken breasts for that much. $2 for a side of "fresh avocado" is 3 very thin slices. I left feeling ripped off. read more

Loved this place in creed! We went for lunch and were advised to either go early or go late. We chose the later and there was still a long wait. But worth the wait!!! We sat inside and were pressed for time because we wanted to tour the mining museum. The wait staff was so accommodating to get us in and out quickly when the place was very busy. Had Mexican entrees and weren't disappointed! Only disappointment was we were too rushed to try the margaritas!!! Next time!!! read more

This place is our "must go to" spot every time we are in Creede. The food is always fantastic, the atmosphere is fun and service is always great! I highly recommend the chipotle black bean burger but my meat eating guys would say the elk burgers read more

We were staying in South Fork for skiing and decided to drive up to Creede to explore a little. After stopping at Kip's, we were so glad we'd made the trip! The people were so welcoming to out-of-towners, the drinks were tasty and the food was excellent. We had stuffed peppers, pizza & tacos in our group, and all was really delicious. After eating we went back to the game room & had a great time playing shuffleboard. All the while, different employees would check in with us & stop and chat. We had a great evening at Kip's and will definitely be going there the next time we're in the area! read more

Well, I never got the chance to find out how their food was because I walked up to the patio and a server looked at my like she had just seen an alien. I asked if perhaps I was entering the wrong way. She said, "Oh, well, we just stopped serving." So I went back to the car and told the family they had just stopped serving. But as I sat in the car waiting for my husband to get back in, I saw two women walk in, they were given menus and seated. ?????????? What was that about? Either she just didn't like the way I looked or they saw my black husband and mixed children and decided to "close". There were confederate flags flying high in the trailer park on the way into town so I'm not really sure which one it was. read more

If you find yourself in Creede and hungry you might want to give Kips a try. I had burger... It was delicious. Wife had the chicken enchiladas, they were really good and the kids had a pizza, I had to try a bite and it was really good too. Staff was really friendly and helpful. Vacationing in the Creede area. Went to Kip's Bar and Grill/Laundry to wash some clothes. Much to our delight the washers and dryers were just to the right of the bar! We enjoyed a beer and played pool while doing our laundry. After taking a couple laps around town we returned for lunch. I had Dos Dynamite Diablos Tacos and they were fantastic! The other four in my group were equally impressed. This place has an awesome atmosphere as well as staff! They are adding an upstairs bar and dining area, which we toured, that is going to provide some spectacular views! Kip and Pam and all the other staff were wonderful to us! Take Pam a piece of Walnut (not pecan) fudge for some special treatment. Highly recommend a visit when in the area. read more

My husband and I went here for lunch last Sunday while visiting Creed. We have eaten at the location in Pagosa Springs several times so we were expecting the same quality, but were sadly disappointed. Ordered guacamole for an appetizer, it was turning brown and tasted a day old. Waiter repeatedly asked us if we wanted drinks and when we didn't order any became uninterested in serving us. Our tacos were okay, but didn't seem fresh and came out slightly cold. Overall, not a good experience, I doubt we would go back. read more

Kips is always our favorite for local Bison or Elk burgers. We were up in Creede for the annual Chocolate Festival yesterday and were quite strung out on chocolate samples from all the merchants. Kips built a second story open air deck with a bar and 360 degree views of the surrounding mountains and wildlife, upstairs is more casual-trendy. Sports bar feel downstairs with TVs and booths. Patio out front for dining or hanging out... frequently they have local musicians playing on the patio. Really friendly staff, one of the only year round places to eat in Creede. The staff always makes us feel like we're part of the family. read more

I visited this place while coming through on vacation and was so displeased with my service that i made a yelp account specifically for this restuarant. Ill start off with the fact that there was definitely dried soda in/on our salt shaker and our waitress was so high that the four of us had to repeat our orders multiple times each.then the rice was so uncooked that it was hard (not like "al dente" or anything literally rock hard) and the cheese on the nachos i ordered was only melted on the very top and the ketchup literally was so old it tasted alcoholic. P.s. my father-in-law ordered the chicken quesadillas and the chicken was to dry for him to even be able to swallow it without taking a drink at the same time. read more

Kip's has never disappointed us in all the times we've visited. We've enjoyed fish and chips, pizza and their burgers as well as the 5 onion dip with homemade chips. However, we are most in love with the tacos! My favorite - fish tacos. My husband's favorite - the El Diablo. (Or the Baja chicken...he can't tell for sure). If the tacos weren't amazing enough, they are served with the perfect toppings and an array of hot sauces to die for. The service has always been fast and friendly. Just a note on the onion dip- while it is fabulous enough to impress anyone you are trying to get to like you, I wouldn't recommend it for a first date. Or for someone who won't share it with you. I have been a long time customer of kips ( 15+years). We arrived as we have for many years at 7:45 on the morning of 4th of July only to be told by the owner himself that they don't open for an hour. Which they have always opened at 8 on the 4th and even his menu said open at 8:30. He was extremely rude to all of us even when I told him we had a very large party. I am sad to say I will never be a patron again. I'm not sure what his problem is but he definitely has one. read more

We were in Creede for some shopping and decided to stop in for a drink and quick bite but received much more! We sat at the bar. My husband ordered a their silver nickel margarita and I had a glass of Cabernet. Both drinks were great. We also ordered the Nacho Mamas Nachos with Barbacoa on top and they were DELICIOUS. We are from Texas so we were skeptical but the meat was tender and juicy with a lot of flavor. On top of it all, we had great service with Nate the bartender. We stopped in while visiting Creede. The waiter was really cool and explained the menu questions we had. The food was between good and great. We all had burgers except one who had fish tacos. Everyone's was great except mine was a little overcooked. The bacon on my burger was black. I don't think this is the norm. They have several homemade sauces between the mild and very hot. Everything from "outside seating" to service to food was "eh". Which is sad because a few years ago, we blast upstairs and took in the view of the mountains and the town below us and had a blast. Upstairs is now closed for private parties. We were sat at bar stools in a covered outdoor patio devoid of and charm or decor. Unisex bathroom is one stall, and lucky for me, a large Harley Davidson biker group had to go as badly as I did. Gluten free? You may take a chance when asking for corn tortillas when menu says item comes on flour: Server was nice enough but she warned us that kitchen wouldn't be happy asking for "one corn and one flour tortilla" (we wanted to order and share two baskets of tacos but we also wanted our preferred tortillas, what can I say, divas?), food took a very long time and our view was boring/irritating because pedestrians were only by glass and looked shocked to see two faces staying back at them as the peered in to deliberate eating there - could have drank out of our straws. I thought queso. was excellent and fish and pork tacos were OK. My husband thought the exact opposite. Boring lunch experience. Bummer - really wanted him to throughly enjoy one of my favorite towns. read more

I had the sirloin tacos which were pretty good & the chips & guacamole was delicious which is why I'm at least giving 2 stars. The downside, both my husband & another member in our group got extremely sick ( vomiting, diarrhea, sweats) after eating the #2 tacos , I can't remember what it was called but had hatch chilis & come wrapped in foil. Just passing through Creede with my dad and we suddenly got a craving for some Mexican. We stopped in town and, while walking around for a bit, asked a local where to eat. We told them we wanted Mexican and they said we have to go to Kip's, no question. We showed up to a fun atmosphere and got a seat on the patio at the counters facing the street. There was great energy outside and our waiter only added to that as he was super iced and excited to share his suggestions with some out-of-towners! Per his recommendations, I got the Pilewski and my dad got the Esteban Special. After snacking on some chips for a little bit, our food came out and we immediately dove in. Granted, we were both hungry and craving Mexican at that point, but we still agreed that this was some of the best Mexican we had ever had! It's not some really fancy or expensive dish like you'd get at a posh restaurant. It's just straight up good food. No flashing plating or anything to distract you. Just really good, genuine food. We almost ordered a second round just to take home and we certainly regretted not doing it the next day! We can't wait to be back in the area because we will definitely make a detour through Kip's! read more

We went mid-afternoon, so there weren't a lot of folks eating, but there seemed to be a frenzy in the place comparable to busy restaurants. Kids Mac & Cheese is from a box (and pricy).
