This is by far one of the tastiest diners I've ever eaten at. It might not look like much from the outside but the food is delicious and you can't beat the price! Their challah is made in house and melts in your mouth. Yummy.

5/1/2026 Stay away!!…read more Food is just ok.. Although I found hair in my food several times.gross! There are some good waitresses..mainly in the afternoon, but the service of some and the manager especially JEROME (Owners Brother Who Thinks He Is The Owner)is horrible and doesn't know the first thing about running a restaurant or customer service! I wonder if his sister the ACTUAL owner knows about him telling customers to leave, good steady customers. Your bread and butter, throwing their business out the door! See how long your business lasts with that model Long story short I have gone many times to this place at just 2:30pm or 3 pm in the afternoon and half the restaurant area is CLOSED off. On 3 separate occasions JEROME was there when I arrived and I asked if I could be seated at a BOOTH..this place is NOT big and only 6 booths..3 were taken and the other 3 were on the closed side I explained to him I have a bad back and cannot sit on a hard chair. He said sorry and basically said ok leave..I had been a regular customer until incidents with a few morning time waitresses, Tiffany in particular and he knew full well who I was as he has seen me so many times eat there. 3 times turned business away and would not simply seat me at a booth that was right next to a booth in the so called closed section, even again telling him I had to sit on a custioned seat due to a very bad back and can't sit on a hard chair This person JEROME..the manager saw me sitting in the booth today and almost had a heart attack..as to what am I doing. The waitress working who DOES thankfully understand you should accommodate your customers, especially those with such a small request and NEED due to physical issues He came to the table and immediately started YELLING like a child throwing a tantrum, telling me how I was not supposed to be sitting there .restaurant was half full with customers as he TRIED to humiliate me .which he saw he has the wrong one! I told him the waitress did the right thing .he was yelling at her as well and told him don't yell at the waitress because she did the RIGHT THING and knows what she is doing, unlike you and she should be praised for such. He disrupted people's meals and then could be heard by everyone in the restaurant walking around saying "THIS IS MY PLACE , ARE YOU KIDDING, CMON People do what I say" .like a tough guy, trying to put on a show for the customers who were clearly annoyed it seems as well from his outbursts and disruption all over where I was seated!!!! R u kidding! .JEROME seems the type that was bullied when he was a kid and now has let the manager title go to his head!! Thinks he can utterly speak to anyone and CUSTOMERS any way he pleases. He totally disrupted everyone in the restaurant meals..kept running his mouth about it while I was waiting for my food then came again to my table and HARRASSED me and asked what I was doing with my phone! Told him NONE of your business and to leave me alone this is harassment and I will report and sue! JEROME has NO place being a manager or any part of anything where you need to interact with others as he has NO PEOPLE skills and the only thing he can MANAGE is to run this place OUT OF BUSINESS. Horrible experiences here between some of the waitresses and Jerome. This place is a joke..and I suspect they will lose more and more customers if it continues to have waitresses(NOT ALL), there are some good ones there but others which started me stopping going here because they were more interested in talking gossip to some customers and ignoring others and not properly waiting on their tables and just horrendous service This is the worst place I have ever seen with issues and JEROME is a big part of it and he is going to be a good reason this place loses business and customers and maybe even sued! As for the waitress today..BRAVO..you did what he should of done every time..she said "NO Problem you need to sit there .I understand".and brought me to a booth. She got my order correct and was very polite and didn't deserve to be yelled at or spoken to the way she was in front of CUSTOMERS by JEROME.Humiliating her and talking derogatory to her. Bullying her! Stay away. There are much better alternatives to this place in terms of food quality and especially service and nice people in the area ..try DYANS Kitchen .way better in every way than this place.

One thing to know before you go: they are cash only, so come prepared! Honestly, with how affordable everything was, I was surprised. The prices were much lower than I expected. For breakfast, I ordered the meal that came with eggs, a choice of sausage or bacon, grits or potatoes, and toast. I went with scrambled eggs, a sausage patty, grits, and rye toast. I also added a stack of blueberry pancakes. My friend ordered a cheeseburger with fries and slaw. The service was faster than expected. We were told the takeout order would take around 30 minutes, but it was ready in about 15. The eggs and sausage were tasty, and the grits were good once I added a little extra seasoning. They needed a bit more salt, pepper, and butter for my taste, but after that they were delicious. The standout for me was definitely the blueberry pancakes. They were huge, fluffy, and absolutely worth ordering. My friend enjoyed the cheeseburger and fries, although he felt the burger patty may have been frozen rather than hand-formed. Overall, we had a great experience. The food was good, the portions were generous, the prices were hard to beat, and the service was quick. I'll definitely be coming back for breakfast, especially those blueberry pancakes!

It's a small, cozy spot, and from the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed. I was immediately greeted by Lori, who also ended up being my server. What impressed me even more was realizing she was handling the entire restaurant by herself -- and doing an outstanding job. Attentive, friendly, and never made me feel rushed or forgotten. That's hospitality. I started with a cup of coffee, and even that caught my attention. Really good coffee. For breakfast, I ordered the corned beef hash with peppers and onions, country-scrambled eggs, cheesy grits, and a side of applewood-smoked bacon. Let's break this plate down. Applewood-Smoked Bacon: Nice quality bacon, cooked well with great flavor. Country-Scrambled Eggs: Cooked perfectly. Simple breakfast food sounds easy, but execution matters, and they nailed it. Cheese Grits: These were a STAR. Smooth, creamy, properly seasoned, and tasted like somebody actually cared when they made them. You can tell when grits are made with love. Corned Beef Hash: Now THIS was another star of the plate. Beautifully crispy on the outside while staying soft and tender inside. Adding the peppers and onions took it up another level -- the flavors complemented each other perfectly. While I was eating, Chef/Owner Tony came over to introduce himself. Apparently, the way I ordered my food tipped him off that I might be a foodie. We started talking, and I told him I was a chef as well. It turned into one of those great moments where two chefs can appreciate each other's craft and passion for food. Tony was a genuinely nice guy, and I'm glad I had the opportunity to meet him. The Gem Eatery definitely gained a new guest today. Great food. Great hospitality. Great people. And when a small neighborhood breakfast spot can execute the simple things at this level, that tells me a lot about the kitchen. I walked in looking for breakfast and walked out understanding why they call it The Gem. Definitely a hidden gem worth stopping for.

We visited the Sunrise location on a Wednesday around 1:00 pm. My father ordered the diner skillet with no hash browns and requested scrambled eggs. When his meal arrived, it was not hot. The vegetables were undercooked, and the eggs were thin, layered, and also cold. My father politely asked if they could simply scramble the ingredients together in the skillet and heat it up a little. Instead of trying to resolve the issue, the manager responded that he "should not have ordered that." He refused to take the meal back and told my father to order something else. The interaction was unnecessarily rude and very embarrassing. My father and his friend both commented that they had never been treated that way in a restaurant before. When we asked for the manager's name, he refused to provide it. Everyone can have an off day, and mistakes happen in restaurants. What matters is how they are handled. Unfortunately, the lack of professionalism and unwillingness to correct a simple issue turned what could have been a minor problem into a very unpleasant experience. We left disappointed, and it is not a place we plan to return to.
