I loved everything, but a special mention to the pistachio fingers, which are a classic and always a favorite.

His son moved to Dearborn in the 80's and opened up Masri Sweets, bringing Nablus style Knafeh which is known the world over. It's my favorite thing to eat here. They still carry on in the Palestinian tradition. Samples are handed out generously. You want a piece of pastry which might be $2 or $3 somewhere else, no problem. Take 2. Palestinian culture has historically been very generous with food. Guests never leave without eating, and strangers are always welcomed. What cynical irony that food is currently being used as a weapon of war against these people. I sometimes wonder if their hospitality wasn't their Achilles heel. They do offer cappuccinos and espressos in addition to fresh brewed coffees. Gonna have to set my alarm to get out earlier to try one of these pastries fresh!

It started out as Good Morning Bakery I used to get roasted vegetables with zaatar and labne manaeesh rolled up. That was absolutely delicious. I am disappointed that the option vanished with the change of owners and name. I don't know where else I can get it. But now it is Al Andalus and there are two new options I feel are the best manaeesh I've had anywhere. 1.) sojouk and cheese. The nicely spiced meat is moist and has a good bite of heat at the end. Paired with the molten ackawi cheese on crispy manaeesh bread, it is what keeps bringing me back. 2.) kishk veggies and cheese. Kishk (meaning sun-dried) is a savory paste of yogurt and bulgur wheat ground into a powder. It is re-constituted with water into a paste. The taste with the vegetables and melted cheese on hot, crisp manaeesh is outstanding. Two mashrou (large, oblong sized) manaeesh cost me $10.50. They were worth every penny. I can't just get one. So I get both. And I'm never disappointed.
