no bicycles, no backpacks, no people there

No backpacks allowed. - This was my first time at King Wah. Following a great dinner at NoHo's Hawaiian Teriyaki, I decided to take the server's recommendation to get a drink at King Wah. I love a good dive bar. I love karaoke. I love cheap drinks. I despise poorly thought out policies however. I wasn't allowed in the bar because I had something called a "backpack." I said to the employee, "Oh you mean this rucksack, book bag, knapsack, or packsack? I refuse to call this a backpack as I can easily wear it on my front side." After asking why I couldn't have my leftover dinner and rain jacket in a bag with straps, I was told "it's not my policy." Okay, but I asked why, not who's policy it was. Sadly I was asked to leave due to my threatening Jansport that allowed me to carry items without using my hands while my car is in the shop and a long walk ahead on a rainy night. I encourage King Wah to expand their ban of backpacks to include fanny packs, wheelchairs, wheelbarrows, riding lawn mowers, and donkeys that bring baby Jesus gifts.

Combination dinners. Prices too. Not very reasonable.

Our food was cold. I think they were more interested in serving people in the bar. I will not be back.

The food is always consistently good with very large portions. The service is also quick. They offer take out as well.

Tip: King Wah failed the county restaurant inspection in March 2016. It received a score of 58; 69 and below are failing scores.

I come here all the time with my friends. No, it's not the fanciest place ever, but we definitely enjoy the buffet.

We started with the deep-fried pickles, which were a letdown. They tasted like basic bottled pickle slices lightly dipped in flour with minimal seasoning--nothing special. Dinner didn't improve much. The menu items sound really appealing, but once they arrived, the flavors were bland. We ordered the Irish stew, and the meat was very tough. Tried cutting it in really small pieces so I could chew it, but it wasn't worth the effort. Had a few pieces with gristle and fat. I ended up picking the meat out and just eating the carrots and potatoes. We also tried the famous meatloaf, which was the highlight of the meal. I enjoyed it, though the portion could have been a bit larger. The gravy was tasty, and it came with peas and mashed potatoes. Overall, while the service and atmosphere were great, the dishes lacked flavor and felt overpriced for what was served.

The ambiance, was classic pub throughout, and we enjoyed this quite a bit having just returned from Ireland few weeks ago. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but it's a cozy little restaurant inside with a lot of cool pictures from the early 1900s. I wish I would have taken pictures of the decor but it was a long day of driving and I didn't think about it. All the food was really good. My husband had a French dip, my daughter got a cheeseburger, and I went with the chicken quesadilla. The avocado didn't work for me but being a California girl, I get it. My daughter's French fries were the absolute best restaurant fries I've had in a loooong time. My husband enjoyed a local beer and I went with my standard white Russian, which was nice and strong. They had a really interesting cocktail menu, but I wasn't feeling adventurous there. As for service, outstanding. Our server was so friendly, attentive, and helpful with all of our questions and requests. We'll definitely keep this place in mind for future road trips now that we will be driving though from time to time! I tried to add more pictures but they don't seem to be uploading ‍

You HAVE to make a reservation or you don't get through the door. The door actually takes you into a barbershop at Tinseltown and then (with a password) behind it, recreating a speakeasy experience from the days of Prohibition. And they ask you to dress up--no jeans. That's kind of fun, but it's really all about the food. INCREDIBLE FOOD. Four of us had 2 different beef steaks, rack of lamb and swordfish steak. ALL done perfectly and tasty, as well as various sides. No one regretted their choices. The service was impeccable--attentive but not intrusive. And then there were the deserts: the four of us shared 3 different deserts and all were to die for. I'm a longtime baker with varied experience here and in Europe and never had better deserts anywhere. Not a place for kids--no one under 21. Mocktails as well as wine and. cocktails. And fairly expensive but well worth it--we were celebrating a birthday and when they found out delivered the deserts with a huge wonderful sparkler. They have special event nights with live music and they also have burlesque nights--so ask. But you can go to just relax, enjoy and eat well.
