Went to the Bamboo Room at King Wah for for karaoke and the KJ make it all about them. We had 2 singers and the KJ would sing 2-3 songs to our one. It should not be "the KJ show". We wanted to sing and drink and have a good time and the KJ made the experience I unenjoyable. Will it return. read more

30 years ago I worked in the bar. The Restaurant was the best in town, especially the special fried rice! ( I used to live on it ) So I live out of state now and one of the first places, I Wanted to go was king wah. Not anymore!! the last few times, I've been there the food was disgusting! Really Really bad! After we couldn't eat the food, because it was so bad, we gave it to the feral cats around the area. the next day the food was still there, so when hungry cats won't eat it, that says something!! If they want good food again, they need to find the people who cooked back in the day and get their recipes. Until then find Chinese food somewhere else. read more

No backpacks allowed. - This was my first time at King Wah. Following a great dinner at NoHo's Hawaiian Teriyaki, I decided to take the server's recommendation to get a drink at King Wah. I love a good dive bar. I love karaoke. I love cheap drinks. I despise poorly thought out policies however. I wasn't allowed in the bar because I had something called a "backpack." I said to the employee, "Oh you mean this rucksack, book bag, knapsack, or packsack? I refuse to call this a backpack as I can easily wear it on my front side." After asking why I couldn't have my leftover dinner and rain jacket in a bag with straps, I was told "it's not my policy." Okay, but I asked why, not who's policy it was. Sadly I was asked to leave due to my threatening Jansport that allowed me to carry items without using my hands while my car is in the shop and a long walk ahead on a rainy night. I encourage King Wah to expand their ban of backpacks to include fanny packs, wheelchairs, wheelbarrows, riding lawn mowers, and donkeys that bring baby Jesus gifts. read more

First time ordering here. I do not recommend. Food was disappointing to say the least. Decent prices and large portions. Crab puffs definitely were the worst I've ever had. The chicken- hard & chewy breading on the outside, some pieces of chicken were just breading, the one with chicken were dry. The rice was decent. Came here around the afternoon before dinner time when visiting Medford. The empty restaurant should have tipped us immediately. The selections were very limited and the quality of the food was just really bad. The deep fried entrees tasted like they were refried again to show that they were fresh, however it just made it more oily and stale. I had given up after one small plate and truthfully I am glad that I did as I started to get really sick late that night. This was... the most bizarre experience. Came in here with the husband, for the buffet. While he was paying I looked over and saw the TWO (2) small tables of food for the buffet. I was so confused, I thought, ok, maybe there's a secret door... to more food. No. I was wrong. 15 bucks for this buffet sounded reasonable... but the food was so, SO bad. I couldn't even get through a single whole plate. I picked at everything I got. He managed to eat at least until he wasn't exactly hungry... Oh, we went in on a hot smoky day. I figured, yay somewhere nice and cool to escape for a bit... Nope. It was more humid and hot INSIDE THIS RESTAURANT THAN IT WAS OUTSIDE. The mar far was so chewy the middle was solid, the noodles were so over cooked they wouldn't bend, and half of the sweet and sour chicken was stuck to the pan. I order food from King Wah to be delivered to me at the hotel, and have never had a problem. I really like all the food I order, no matter what it is. I eat at a few different Chinese Food deliveries while on the road, in various states, and to me, King Wah is the best, hands down! For the people worried about oil & grease/fat, I think all Chinese food is heavy in oils/fat, my Wife even stopped eating Chinese food for that very reason. If your tummy is sensitive, maybe you should not eat Chinese food? Anyway, I also want to add that the sauces/dips are great to! I NEED fresh hot mustard when eating Chinese food, and King Wah has it, the good stuff! Also, their red chili sauce paste is tops! I actually really enjoy this place, not my favorite by any means, but enjoyable. My boyfriend and I stop here every few months when we go to WinCo. I like the little buffet they have. Chow mein is disgusting! The mar far was super greasy! The rice wasn't even goodI had to soak it in soy sauce! The buffet had onion rings and wings......weird! The egg flower soup was nasty! It tasted like cheap chicken noodle soup with canned chicken in it. The hot tea was pinkish and gross! They were worse than Yummy Yan's and definitely nothing compared to New China! I still can't get the nasty taste out of my mouth! I have a belly ache now all evening too! The wait staff was nice but not chinese and the cooks were chinese though. The restaurant was dark, looked old and smelled bad. I decided to go here with a friend because it was just a quick stop. We We decided that we would just get the buffet, the price was good but the food was awful! The chicken was dry and rubbery and the noodles smelled like coffee and tasted greasy and cold! The orange chicken tasted just sweet, like it was dipped in corn syrup and served. Review is for the Friday karaoke only. Sound was good and balanced with the KJ paying attention and constantly adjusting sound for each singer. Sparse crowd but a group at the bar all sang and were engaged. Dive ambiance. If in Medford would come again. I used to go to this place to sing karaoke and have fun and occasionally order food as well as drinks. This place has turned into a terrible place to be with people who don't pay attention because the KJ and his girlfriend were pretty much having sex right in front of myself and my friend I was with and in plain sight of everyone. They call this guy Chris "captain awesome" in mine and my friends opinion he is NOT awesome at all and he was definitely NOT professional at all and it was not fair the way he was running things with the singers and was taking breaks when he saw new people were coming up to sign up to sing. I'm very upset and disappointed and I will NEVER be back at this place again because we were being judged on how we were dressed and the songs that we sang and that's why he did the rotation the way he did and playing favorites. I think you need to hire some sober people who know how to do their job without messing around and someone who will actually do their job. Saturday night is a great night to be there with professionalism but like tonight, Friday night and he wouldn't listen to my requests and yelled behind me while I was trying to sing and yelled at the owner as we left. If I could give the king wah negative stars, I would. The buffet was disgusting and as I was sitting down at my table, a cockroach hopped on to my table. It was horrifying. This place came (wrongly) highly recommended by a local Motel. OMG what a mistake! The first oddity was that as we entered, we thought we might try the buffet. The first thing they did was ask us to pay... before we were even seated or had a chance to look at the buffet! Red Flag! By the way, the buffet is pretty limited and what was there wasn't very appetizing. We ordered off the menu instead. The food portions although very large were just plain nasty. Everything is battered and deep-fried which wouldn't be so bad if there was actually real chicken or pork or something inside the batter. Go ahead... I dare you to break open that oily batter and find the minuscule chunk of meat inside. Just an upset stomach waiting to happen. DO NOT EAT HERE. My girlfriend and I ordered 2 dishes and 2 appetizers. The bbq pork was rock hard but the obviously frozen grocery store egg rolls were at least edible. We are the egg rolls but avoided the pork that was god only knows how old it was. The egg drop soup was basically canned soup with an egg in it o we skipped on that too. While waiting we watched the owner bring her dog in and out of the kitchen and at this point we started discussing leaving. While talking it over they brought the food. We had been on the road all day and we figured maybe the entrees would be edible. We were wrong. The fried food was rock hard and completely dry inside, obviously made at some point that week and reheated in the fryer. We each took a bite and tried the other and tried sending it back. The owner assured us the "everything was fresh" as tho nether of us had ever eaten food before and told us that it was just our standards. Which evidently was far too high and just kinda ignored us. When we said we went paying for the food we didnt eat she then yelled at us and threatened to call the cops. We both had a long day and weren't in the mood to have a big scene we offered again. To pay for what we ate but she demanded half the bill. She also threatened to take it out of the poor servers wages and even tho she wasn't top notch or anything it certainly wasn't that poor girls fault. I strongly recommend never eating here. We found this place at 8:30 p.m. when the Yelp place Mai Thai was closed and we were desperate for a place to eat. It is next to a bar and the neighborhood is sleazy. I was expecting the worst, but our dishes were surprisingly tasty. I had triple nut shrimp chow mein and my daughter had a vege chow fun dish. My sister had a birthday party for me here as she is the day time bar tender and amazing. Once her shift is over the evening bar tender begins his shift. This is at 6 PM. The bar seemed to empty out very quickly. Come to find out that the evening bar tender is a scum bag. He does not tend to the patrons. Only the ones he chooses. Buffet at 8:30 PM Saturday night; the restaurant closes at 9 PM, no few new items added to the relatively small buffet selections. Good service, but the food was marginal, but only cost $8.95 per person. "You get what you pay for." There was no bok choy or chinese broccoli, only American celery for greens. It may be difficult for the establishment to obtain fresh vegetables because of their location. On leaving the parking lot behind the restaurant, be aware you cannot make a right turn into the street. It is an unmarked one-way street--we ended up going the wrong way at nighttime. read more
