The Mint Ting a Ling and Cotton Candy are great choices for hard ice cream. We were all pleased after this last visit. The kid serving us was friendly and his cone creations were satisfying. Prices now are probably more closely aligned with other ice cream parlors these days, but bring cash. The parking here can be tight, so I'd you want to try it, I suggest going at an off time... I got a vanilla soft serve in a waffle cone with rainbow sprinkles and a cup of rainbow sprinkles on the side. The on the side sprinkles was like big condiment cup which impressed me. The ice cream was so delicious. The safe as well was so nice and cheery. The place was also packed. I will say the cone I got was almost $8 (likely due to the waffle cone) which is kind of steep for soft serve ice cream but everything is expensive these days so I'm not knocking them for it. Also this ice cream was everything and then some to me so I would happily go back and pay that price again. The pairing works well though. There are a few tables to sit at but we sat at the back of our car. The parking lot is fairly large so there is more room there. This is the best ice cream in the area! I have been coming here since I was a kid and have such happy memories here. It has a happy atmosphere with lots of families and children/sports teams. After two decades of coming here, I am not coming back EVER again. Purely upsetting. My 80-year-old grandfather came here following his chemotherapy appointment and asked for a kiddie-sized cone with $3 in his hand. The server refused him a kiddie cone because he is not a "kid." It seems to be staffed by young high school kids who need to clarify the order with you multiple times. Personally I felt the ice cream didn't have as much flavor as other places. Even though I live in PR I've never once been to King Kone. Mostly because I've been turned off by the crowds and the throngs of teenagers. But finally, we were coming home from dinner and were passing right by so we stopped. I had a regular vanilla cone with sprinkles for a hefty $4.75. It definitely was tasty, but probably not worth the $5 price tag. It's Carvel-ish, but not quite Carvel. Probably won't go back. Maybe it's just me , but I get the feeling that they only like their kind at this spot. I drive infront of this place every day and for some reason I only see 90% of one specific race hanging around here. Now people might say well it's because the population of the city is that specific race. Yes that could be true. But I have also noticed some weird behaviors when they were serving me couple of times in the past. For some reason they seem to have only teenagers working here, which is fine . But for some strange reason, they all seem to be "deliberately incompetent" when I am trying to order something. Granted these kids haven't been to college yet, so they don't have any idea about how to be nice with people of other races, but why be "deliberately incompetent"? That's what I don't understand. I actually had a cousin of mine and his family who had to leave because of the harassment his little girl was receiving at the Pearl River elementary school. I don't want to go deep into it. But it seems like Pearl River is a predominantly white neighborhood and I get the feeling that they like to keep it that way from my experiences and what my cousin had to go through with his child. No child deserves to be treated like that. read more
