This shack ain't the love shack, but it takes the cake...or banana split that is. It's got a variety of flavours. If you want to cater to your gut, get the large swirl. There are tons of tables. I love this type of local gem. It's close, easy to get to and the ice cream is good. Basically only the ice cream is good, the other food was very basic as well as skimpy. This is one of the few places I've seen serve alligator nuggets. Too bad they were chewy and fishy (they're supposed to taste like chicken). My favorite ice cream is the banana cream pie. The staff are super friendly, but the tables were all dirty, dried ketchup covered my table and the one we move to. There was garbage littered all over the place and the only bathroom is a Porto potty that was dirty and unkempt. The sticker stated it was last inspected on the 12th. I had gone on the 15th. That's a lot of time in between cleanings. Would I come here again? Yes, definitely for ice cream. Maybe to go (on my way to the very cool Muscot Farms maybe). Nothing is better on a hot summer night than King Cone! My family loves it. The soft serve is the best around. The lines often look long but they go pretty quickly. And the "King Cone" sized cone is amazingly huge. Not sure how anyone would get it cause it's so much ice cream (and at a great price) but I see lots of people with them!!! Lots of great toppings, too. I always get sprinkles but plant to try the brown bonnet next time as it looks awesome. All outside seating. We often meet up with friends and when we don't, we always run into someone we know. Run to King Cone! read more

Service was absolutely terrible! I asked for a large soda with no nice. The lady gave me a can soda instead. She said it was the same amount as it would be in the cup. I told the lady the large cup has more fluid ounces in it than the soda can and she gave me attitude and said "no it's the same because of the ice" . The whole point was that I wanted NO ICE and more soda. The skinny lady with glasses and the fatter lady there told me that if I wanted a large cup with NO ICE that they would have to charge me extra for giving me more soda... I would never recommend this place. Service is everything. They obviously don't know how to talk to their customers. read more

They close in the middle of football season which is a mistake and there milk shakes are 5.00 for a very small cup and does not taste that good. A town like Somers needs a place like this to step up and do the right thing by staying open thru football season for team spirit or longer, and at least place some Go Tuskers flyers up or something to support the team each season???? Disgusting ice cream!! Overpriced milkshakes, the milk in the ice cream tasted spoiled. Peanut butter hard shell was oily and tasted bad. We brought it back and they wouldn't refund the money. Don't go there. Staff was very rude. read more

My kid and I occasionally stop here on our way to Muscoot farm. Nothing special, but a nice treat. Today though, I ordered what I wanted, and the high school kid behind the counter mumbled something at me. I answered what I thought he had asked, and then paid for my food, which seemed more expensive than usual. But then when my ice cream came up, it turned out that they had charged me for and given me much bigger cones than I had asked for. I tried to say that, but the attitude behind the counter was 'tough luck, move on'. The extra money I spent for ice cream I didn't want and threw in the garbage was annoying, but what really frustrated me was the staff's lack of caring that I didn't get what I had thought I had ordered and I was totally unhappy about it. I feel like other places would try to get you what you want so that you leave as a satisfied customer, but not this place. They had my money, and they were done. We will not be back. read more

King Kone has THE BEST soft serve I have ever had in my entire life. I live extremely close so during the season I go multiple times in a week. Even before I lived close to King Kone I would make sure to stop by during any of my trips to the Northern Westchester area. Horrible service. They made me feel very insecure. I asked for a king sized cone. They purposely gave me a cone that was way too big and totally fell over. This made me so upset and scared because people were laughing at me. The fish was undercooked. The service was horrible. The customer support was disgusting. I rate King Kone a 1 star because of the reasons above. TL:DR King kone is not a friendly place and I do not recommend it to anyone who wants ice cream. Have truly never had a worse experience. The place is adorable and lives up to classic summer ice cream shack expectations and I would have thoroughly enjoyed my cone save the absolutely horrendous customer service. The kids who work there are absolute dolls but the owner made me wonder why any 15 year old would want to work there at all. I worked at an ice cream shop as a kid and had some of the best summers of my life while serving locals. The owner seemed so bitter and angry with her employees. I heard her talk down to them and patronize a few of them several times while waiting for and eating my cone. I'm all about tough love but certain lines need not be crossed. She was speaking to them like they were incompetent instead of young kids learning and trying their best. I was shocked. I drove up from Manhattan for some great ice cream at a classic spot, but it left a bad taste in my mouth when it was tainted with such a severe lack of compassion. read more

Terrific warm weather treat. Ice cream, especially soft serve, is very good. The selection is terrific, including all the expected fountain concoctions, and many flavors of hard ice cream. The food choices are basic, but just the ticket for a roadside treat. The parking is crowded and the lines in warm weather are what you would expect (and what the place deserves!). The kids ask all winter when King Kone is opening for the season. Terrific frozen custard, incredibly generous sizing on cones and sundaes and an extensive menu of burgers and grilled cheese, too. Best place to get ice cream is here. It is very rich and creamy and not to sweet. Staff are super nice and do their best to make your experience their the best that they can. The seating area is outside and their are play areas for the kids and an outdoor porta potty. Great location right near the main road and parking right outside the store for a quick grab and go when you are in a rush and want a quick ice cream. read more

The prices are amazing. You definitely won't spend $5 for a cone here. It's around $2 and they give you a dish with the cone. One can easily feed two adults. My kids split one and they have a good topping selection. We love to come here on warm nights. WARNING THEY KNLY ACCEPT CASH. Took my niece and her friend here one summer night and this rating would otherwise be 3.5-4 except for two things. One, they're cash only which again, in 2018 really sucks because lots of people carry only plastic and not cash. Secondly, the witch who worked the window that night was as rude as could be. I had spent a long day at the hospital caring for my father and I wanted to make up for not being around my niece while she was visiting so I offered to take them for ice cream. I didn't realize they were cash only, I was tired and not reading the frigging 10,000 different signs around the kiosk of flavors and options and what not so I missed the printer paper sign that said no card cash only. When I placed the 3 orders I went to hand my card over and the woman appallingly looks at me saying uhhh WE DONT TAKE CARDS. I said stunningly "oh-" and she retorts with, "yea it's kind of all over the front of this place, there's a sign there and there and there" and proceeds with a fake laugh as if being a c&@t wasn't noticed by me. I ended up borrowing a $20 off my niece's friend so I could run to the atm after but thanked the woman for her nasty, sarcastic, and unnecessary attitude to which she replied she wasn't trying to give one. Right. Anyway I wouldn't chip my dollars in to support a place which such disgusting customer service, I don't care if the ice cream is made of gold. And spoiler, it's on par with carvel. read more

Step out of the time machine, and hit up King Kone! An old school, roadside 'fast food before franchising took over' place and ice cream joint. We decided on the Fried Fish platters, and were really pleased we did. The fish portion was average sized, but taste? Good as homemade IMHO. The batter was beer batter like, and perfect. The fish was pure white, flakey, moist, and fresh. The fries were good too, but the coleslaw was stole the show. Fresh, little crunch, homemade, with just the right blend of sauce, cabbage, and other stuff.. Onto the Namesake here, the King Kone.. Awesome! If your used to 'low fat' ice cream, get ready for a treat!! The Ice cream is high octane, butterfat laden, and worthy of a trip just for itself.. Ordered up a waffle cone with this deliciousness, man, perfect!!
