(1:30 - 2:30pm) Regardless of the "buzz," we were politely greeted by Lynn (Lin ?) and seated immediately. Drink orders were taken (fountain drinks or bottled available), menus presented. Drinks delivered and orders taken within 5 - 10 minutes....and a small dish of complementary candied peanuts placed on table. They were delightful. Our orders came out within another 10 minutes or so....even while customers continued to come and go. And 3 different people came out to check if everything was in order..."all good?" - "yes." First for me was a hot, super crispy, veggie egg roll. Multi layers of rice paper wrappers contained a rather bland stuffing. A dollop of "Momofuku-style/Lao Gan Ma" chili crunch with its savory, salty, spicy, umami nature helped. (Of course the traditional hot mustard or duck sauce could have been chosen instead...but none was offered.) Second - my go-to lunch dish, Hunan Chicken. Uber-tender small bites of white breast chicken sauted and bathed in an earthy sauce, along with carrots, mushrooms, onions, and zucchini. Good - yes. Great....not quite. The depth of flavor wasn't here. But the subtle and persistent heat was spot on. Chicken and broccoli for my luncheon guest...was also shy of our top marks. And this dish (attested by both of us) was way over-salty. Too much soy or...? We'll ask next time.
