Special fried rice. 2 shrimp and 2 vegetables egg rolls

Special fried rice is unique and flavorful. Dumplings are well stuffed and come with a great dipping sauce. Sesame chicken isn't too sweet. Can choose spice level. Never been inside, always gotten it delivered.

So I tried visiting Eating Thai but to my dismay, they are closed on Wednesdays. Needing an Asian food fix, I looked around and saw China Wok across the street. I drove over and decided to give it a shot after reading favorable reviews. I side was your typical hole-in-the-wall Chinese takeout. Faded menu, counter, few seats. But because of COVID, the owners took extra precautions and had a makeshift wooden barricade as if there was a zombie apocalypse. Plywood boards made a makeshift wall, compete with a plexiglass window, payment, and delivery boxes. I ordered the normal General Tso's with fried rice and hot and sour soup. I opted to dine in as well and it seemed others did too because the tables weren't very clean and the trash can was overflowing. Once I got my food, I opened the takeout containers and was greeted with a familiar smell. Sweet, tart, greasy General Tso's was making my mouth water. That's where the review stops being positive. The General Tso's had good flavor but it had too much batter used on the meat. There was more batter than actual meat. And of course, there was a hair in my General Tso's, which is always gross. The fried rice was your typical vegetable fried rice. Nothing to complain about there. The hot and sour soup, was not sour at all and was just salty soup. I expected better considering the great reviews but my experience was the complete opposite.

Lemon chicken & soggy crab rangoon.

So I'll admit I'm a bit of a Chinese food snob. I've actually been to China and the food there is amazing. What we call Chinese food in the US isn't anything close to the real thing. With that said I do occasionally like to have some orange or general Tso's chicken, an egg roll or two and maybe some crab rangoon. And that's exactly what we ordered in addition to some lemon chicken and special fried rice. This may have been the worst Chinese food I've ever eaten. The food was bland, crab rangoon tasted like saw dust and both those and the egg rolls were limp with no crisp at all and lukewarm. The lemon chicken was some weird soggy breaded chicken with lemon juice squeezed on it, no real sauce. The whole order was just gross.

"Chicken fried rice."

This is not chicken. I don't know what they gave us. The rice is not cooked well. It is bland. Just awful. 0 stars if it was an option.

Not bad Chinese food. Best egg foo young I've had in Tennessee so far. The chicken wings are good as well. The general tso chicken had a hint of bbq flavor which i wasn't huge fan of, but it was still good and the sauteed broccoli was delicious.

China Wok is probably the best Hunan food n the area. Every dish is better here. I recommend the General Tso's chicken or the Garlic Chicken

Throughout the meal, they checked in and made us feel truly taken care of. They even came by with fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies straight off the baking sheet and handed them out for free! The food itself was excellent. They offer great Southern favorites like shrimp & grits and fried chicken, but I went with the fried boneless pork chop. It was perfectly crunchy, full of flavor, and topped with a generous amount of delicious country gravy. Portions are no joke -- I only made it through half before I was stuffed. I did save just enough room to try the cherry pie, and I'm so glad I did. It was fantastic. I can't say enough great things about Local Joe's. The hospitality, the kindness, and the food all make it absolutely worth a visit.

Country Fried steak: delicious and good gravy Cabbage: bland Enjoyed the AYCE catfish: filets were big, hot, and fresh Hush puppies: yummy! They are huge!!! The inside was still cold. Had it replaced...no comp. Jalapeno cornbread: almost no jalapeno pieces/flavor. Taste kinda like the regular corn bread Coleslaw: too fresh...cabbage was still super crispy Jalapeno fries corn: can see some jalapeno pieces but doesn't taste jalapeno enough Collard greens: ok Overall, a little pricier the the other "Place" down the road. The restaurant has a warm, welcoming atmosphere that's perfect for a family meal, and the service was fast and friendly even on a busy holiday. The cheese biscuits absolutely lived up to the hype. They're the kind of thing you can't stop reaching for once they hit the table. As good as they were, the ribs stole the show. I've had barbecue all around the Nashville area, and these are some of the best ribs I've found. Tender, flavorful, and cooked exactly the way great ribs should be. Between the food, the atmosphere, and the excellent service, this was a memorable Mother's Day meal for our family. We'll definitely be back.

For years, Hendersonville was in dire need of a barbecue restaurant. To go anywhere for decent…read morebarbecue, you had to take a mini road trip to satisfy that craving. There was a rumor we were supposed to get a Martin's but that never came to fruition. Luckily we now have an Edley's, but that's over in Gallatin. When Jim 'N Nick's was announced, I was excited because although it's not "local", it was my 2nd barbecue experience when I first moved to Tennessee back in 2009. I like everything about Jim 'N Nick's, especially those killer, unlimited cheese biscuits that are like crack when you dine in. When I walked through the doors for the first time, something seemed different... I couldn't put my finger on it until I realized they morphed this restaurant into a fast casual style vs at actual sit down with a server. To be honest, most other barbecue restaurants follow this design around here and I prefer it for barbecue. You order once at the counter and get your own refills. They do have a bar here and a pretty efficient drive-thru, but I dined in with my kids that night. My daughter got the pulled pork sandwich kid's meal with a baked potato and my son got chicken tenders and mac 'n cheese. I usually get ribs but seeing how I ate barbecue earlier that day, I just got a 1 piece catfish plate with collard greens and a side salad... I know I know, kind of blasphemous but I vouch to return next time and try actual barbecue. I did order an appetizer of deviled eggs though. The salad was good (I mean it's a salad but it wasn't wilty, so that's all that matters.) The collard greens were tasty and not too bitter. The deviled eggs were fantastic, delicious and creamy with a slight sweetness to it. My catfish was excellently fried with a good base corn meal seasoning and the tartar sauce was icing on the cake. However I made the mistake of ordering 1 filet. The cashier told me they were big but they were NOT. It was a chicken tenderloin sized filet, which left me hungry that night. For the record, just pat a couple bucks more and get 2 filets. Hopefully they will be bigger than what I got....my kids let me have a bite or 2 of their food and I liked the pulled pork and the chicken tenders. The chicken tender was juicy and not at all dry (an indication of freshness). Overall I will come back. I have had their actual barbecue before and I know it's good. Everything was great, even down to the service. A great new restaurant in Hendersonville.

Finding the location and parking was a breeze. The moment I walked in, I was greeted by a lovely young lady with the warmest Southern drawl. I didn't feel rushed or pressured to order, so I decided to sit down and enjoy my meal. Now, THIS is where the experience really stood out. The conversations with the staff were so natural and welcoming that I genuinely felt like I was visiting family. And guess what? Granddaddy himself came out of the kitchen, where he was cooking, just to sit and chat with me! We had a REAL conversation. He told me about his career, his retirement, and even pulled out his phone to show me pictures of his family. No scripted customer service, no forced small talk. Just genuine Southern hospitality. I absolutely LOVED that! Now, let's get into this FOOD! I ordered 12 wings, half mild and half hot, with a side of collard greens. Everything came out piping hot, fresh, and FULL of flavor. The portions were generous, too. I couldn't finish it all and had to get a to-go box. The food was delicious, but the hospitality is what really made this visit memorable. It's not every day you walk into a restaurant as a complete stranger and leave feeling like family. If you're in the area, PLEASE give this place a visit. Great food, authentic conversations, and Southern hospitality at its finest. 10/10! I'll absolutely be back!
