Tried this place for the first time today and I can safely say I have no reason to go back. The first thing I noticed when we walked in was the INCREDIBLY tacky decor. It was like going to a crappy Chinese restaurant in Vegas. Lots of neon, a big fountain with a bridge walkway towards the back (near the buffet)...just really tacky all around. The food was more or less the same mediocre stuff you get at all the Chinese buffets in San Angelo. It also seemed like there was more typical "American" food items than there were Chinese. I did see some dim sum near the soup...I was hoping they were filled with pork and shrimp, but no, it was some stale tasting adzuki bean paste. The hot and sour soup may be the absolutely worst hot and sour soup I've ever had. There was nothing hot (except for temperature) about it, and nothing sour. Instead it was incredibly bland, and somehow greasy. I have NEVER had a greasy hot and sour soup. I took two bites and pushed it away. The sushi is decent and they do try to be a little bit more creative than most of the places here. It was fine until I got berated by the woman making the sushi for leaving the tongs on the sushi tray. Yes, I admit fault and I honestly just wasn't thinking...but you don't need to point angrily at me and yell at me like I'm a child! Something to the effect of, "Oh, could you please put the tongs back on the plate? Thank you so much," would have done much better. And finally, we gave our drink orders before we went to get food...came back to the table, still no drinks. In fact, we still didn't have drinks for another 10 minutes after that. Asian Buffet is somewhere to go if you're looking for quantity, not quality. I felt compelled to add this place to Yelp. They just opened on Friday October 14th. My husband and I went on October 17th (the following Monday). Our first visit here, there was a decent sized crowd at around 3pm. I took this to be a good sign. We were seated quickly and went to get our food. Everything looked fine to me, but my husband isn't a buffet person at all. The one complaint I had was that the spring rolls were cold. My husband really didn't like this because it's not safe and I agree with him, but it was the only thing I'd noticed. The second time we were there was over a week later. I had to twist his arm to take me there since he wasn't a fan the first time. I had noticed that when we drive past, there aren't very many cars in the parking lot. I made note of this on our second trip too when there were hardly people there at 5pm. We were seated in a room that had TVs playing "The Office" right above the head of four people rolling napkins or whatever they were doing. They worked there and they were obnoxious to sit next to. We saw our "waiter" one time and that was just to give my husband a refill while my glass was empty as well. The food on the buffet was nearly ALL cold! No one was stirring anything to regulate temperature, yet there were several employees sitting around talking. The employee to customer ratio doesn't seem balanced. I'm not sure why we didn't walk out at this point. My husband also pointed out that the sushi, while it looked good, was set out with only one pair of tongs. Meaning, if you didn't plan on eating raw fish from one roll, it doesn't matter--the tongs touched raw and meatless alike. Also, when we were getting--or attempting to get--dessert, we saw flies on the food! We were so grossed out we paid and left. Honestly, I don't get the bad reviews. It's a Chinese buffet. They have a big selection of Chinese buffet staples. When you really think about it (at least in inland America), are there any really outstanding similar restaurants? Come on...you go there because you want food that's quick, fried, unlimited, and/or made for you. This place checks all those boxes. Plus the staff is great-- we were seated right away, servers were on top of our drinks and used plates, and the bill was at the table a minute after asking for it. Decent food, but awful service. My family was here for the annual Firefighter Summer Games, so we came with some friends to eat here. Unfortunately we chose the wrong place. Our waitress was AWFUL. She barley spoke English, and she hardly understood us. Then when our recipient came she messed it up, so when my mom asked to check it the second time, she yelled "Fine" angrily. But then, while signing the recipient, she kept pointing at the Tip part, which of course angered my dad, so he just drew a giant line in it. And so instead of being chill and move on with life, she starts rambling in Chinese, probably cussing my dad out. Plus the next day, the other guys from my dad's fire department decided to try it out, and she kept trying to make them sign the check and rip her, BEFORE they were done eating. I'm a lacto vegetarian and asian and find this place great to eat at. They have a Mongolian stir fry area in the back and I can choose the amount of seasoning I want. My husband loves the variety of foods here. The sushi bar is very good ,too. We eat here at least twice a week with family and co-workers. read more

I have been here twice now and both times I thought it was a-ok. Not the best buffet I've ever had (perhaps unfortunately for them I have tried numerous Chinese buffets) but the price is good and the options are plentiful enough to keep me interested. I am pregnant right now so I am limited to the kinds of sushi I can try - all I have tried there are the cooked rolls and they are fine, I like them. I also like their fried rice and their green beans are always bright green and crisp - so fresh. The other foods are typical buffet style - there are at least 6 chicken options and the Thai chicken has a spicy kick to it! We went for dinner the other night and it was $9.99 for a buffet that includes sushi, buffet, hibachi, shrimp and crab legs. The shrimp were good and so were the crab legs - they also had crawfish! I like that they serve filtered water (it's hit or miss in San Angelo) because I hate filling up on soda at a buffet. i had really high hopes for this place... and it was complete shit. i honestly regret going to chinese buffets every time i go, but this place was really bad. If your sushi is going to be that disgusting, don't even sell it. Also, the dessert section is BAD. My husband got something that looked like "cheesecake" with a thick sponge crust and it tasted like soap and smelled rotten. I have been to Asian Buffet many times. My family and friends love it there. Who cares what it looks like inside? I have never paid attention to that. I have always had a very attentive waiter/waitress. The food has always been good. And the man that cooks at the "grill" is a great cook and very entertaining too. We will be going back. read more
