2/16/26 stopped here for lunch. As soon as we walked in we were greeted and seated. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable with the menu. The restaurant is super clean, lots of seating and welcoming. We order sweet & sour chicken w/fried rice which was absolutely delicious! My husband decided on the yellow chicken curry and thai iced tea and thought his lunch was good. The portions were nice and served hot and we thought the pricing was fair. The chicken satay and curries were delicious. Food came out quickly too. My friend doesn't like spicy food and he was content with the spice level of the yellow curry after he requested no spice. For someone who likes spice, I'd say the standard level they offer isn't spicy at all. read more

Came here after work, it was empty with just a couple people coming in for to go orders, seems pretty big but not many people dining in. I was also placing an order to go and the server was very welcoming, I decided ordered the drunken noodles. The veggies and noodles were a good amount but lacked flavor and spice. I think it could've used more sauce and maybe a bit more softening of the noodles they were still a bit too chewy. Will be trying something else in hopes of finding my dish here! read more

This is a very good place to eat! Our party ate spicy chicken, basil rice, orange chicken, shrimp fried rice and chicken fried rice - all were excellent. In addition we had some of the best egg rolls ever! The wait staff was very friendly and efficient! Highly recommended. read more

The service was great. The server was prompt and visited often to make sure all was well. With the reviews, I was excited for a good sushi mentioned in other reviews. I ordered some spring rolls and went to order sushi and was told it's no longer being served. I ended up ordering the spicy chicken with fried rice. While it was hit by temperature, it didn't seem like it was made with fresh ingredients. I was pretty disappointed Ted based on other reviews. I may go back for a second chance and reset my expectations. Again, service was great. read more

My wife and I have been to this establishment many times. It is small and comfortable. Very good service when in the restaurant...we ordered delivery the last time and it was good. I think it is better to go into the restaurant, than order delivery...personal preference I guess. Nothing was wrong with the delivery service, I just feel it was too impersonal. Now we talk about the food, outstanding for us here in San Angelo it is a fantastic place. They adjust the heat level to your preference. I my wife and I really love this place. read more

Okay so boom: I have only been in this part of Texas for a few days, and this place popped up on my Yelp radar several times since being in town. Today was the day I decided to check it out (Tuesday afternoon). I stopped by, got some food to go, and went on my way. The gentleman at the front counter taking my order was very nice and helpful, and the restaurant itself looked alright. It was clean enough at first glance, but the thing I noticed more than the cleanliness was the very apparent lack of patronage. There were only two other people there eating when I came in, and I found that to be interesting. I know San Angelo is (what I would consider to be) a small town, but that was kind of surprising to me. Anyway, I ended up ordering several things - Pad Thai, Lo Mein, fried rice, and some crab rangoons. Overall, the food was *fine* for the most part; it was hot and was obviously freshly made, also the serving sizes are pretty large. However, the taste was a bit off for me. Not exactly sure what it was, I just felt like none of the food tasted how I thought it would/should. Good Thai/Laotian food, but light on spice compared to Basil across town. We ordered gyoza and egg rolls for starters. We ordered sweet and sour chicken, spicy chicken, pad kra pao with chicken, and pad kee mao (drunken noodle) with chicken for our entrees. Our food was all good quality, came out in decent portions sizes, and had good flavor overall. The only issue we experienced was a lack of spice on the more spice focused dishes. One of our guests loves spice and ordered the pad kra pao at the top level 5 and it was only moderately spicy, perhaps a typical level 3. I ordered the drunken noodle at level 3 as I had not eaten here before and was unsure of their levels and wanted moderate spice. I also got a side of chili paste just in case. I had to use all the chili paste to give the dish any spice. The noodles were more of a 1-1.5. I would come back based on the food quality, but if you order anything meant to spicy like drunken noodle, pad Kra pao, pad pri king, etc., I highly recommend ordering level 4 or above. I lived in Indonesia for two years in the 1980s and love sate and good peanut sauce. I moved from San Antonio to San Angelo and surprise surprise by Ban Moon has good Sate and great peanut sauce. Could not find this food at all in San Antonio It must be Laotian because it doesn't taste like any Thai peanut sauce I've ever had, and to be honest with you I don't like Thai peanut sauce. So happy to have retired to a place where I can eat this whenever I want.! read more

Based only on this one take out/deliver meal experience I have to say, this place is good! The items I got were solid other than the tom yum ta lay soup. It was a bit too sour for me and the bay leaves you cannot eat, its only for flavoring the broth. Some other unique veggie in the soup does not make well for chewing and needs be removed when eating it I suggest, its like tree bark almost. Not a bad soup, just had some odd ingredients. The rest was solid! The pad that with pork level 3 heat, amazing! Huge portion also. The yellow curry is on fire! Not for spicy heat but flavor! I got chicken in mine and it worked very well. The curry broth is rich, thick, aromatic and purely delicious. I used SA2Go for delivery and it took maybe 25 minutes from app order to doorstep arrival. Normally when I drive back home to see family, I gorge myself on Mexican food. Ban Moon was a very unexpected, but greatly appreciated addition to our list of restaurants we must visit each visit. We love Ban Moon! We've been here twice, and always start with crab rangoons and Thai Iced Tea. Both are delicious. Our server recommended the pad cashew, which comes in a large portion with a choice of steamed or fried rice. So good! All of the food came out super quick. This is a solid takeout option in San Angelo which was convenient for me one night when I wanted to relax. I called ahead and they told me my order would be ready in 15 mins. When I arrived the staff were friendly and had my order ready to go which was nice. I ordered the massaman curry with chicken and it was okay. I didn't particularly love it and wish it came with a bit less sauce and more vegetables and chicken. The flavor was good but I wish it was a little more spicy. Really enjoyed this Thai restaurant during a recent stay. Saw it from my fellow Yelpers and it was well recommended. We started off with spring rolls. They were huge and super fresh. Loved the spicy/sweet sauce that came with it. Unfortunately, it didn't have much (any?) shrimp and missing the typical mint / herbs that come with it. Super fresh cucumbers, rice, cabbage. Not much else. I had the Pad Thai. I always thought it came with protein. Had to add $2 for a meat on top of it which was slightly surprising. When it came out, it was GINORMOUS. If I had this as a take out option, I am sure I could have had two complete meals out of it. As it was, I could only eat half. Very good, typically sweet with a great peanut crunch. I did enjoy this one. My wife had the Lo Mein. It was very savory and awesome in it's own right. In fact, we should have just gotten one of these two but we try to deceive ourselves about how old we are. No way we would do what our parents used to do in their retirement. read more

We moved here in January 2017 from a 3-million-person metropolitan area rich in restaurants featuring foods from around the world. Our first visit was really a reconnoiter to see what San Angelo Thai/Lao food had to offer since both cuisines are favorites of my husband's (mine are Vietnamese/Cambodian). They have a good menu of the popular recipes found in the US, so we were excited. On the first visit, we had laab and drunken noodle. The drunken noodle was well executed and included a lot of vegetables, not just carrot and cabbage. Nice flavor and very big portion. The laab was a little disappointing. I make it with chicken and more fish sauce, lime, herbs, and red onion. I also didn't taste that elusive quality that toast rice flour gives the dish. On our recent visit we had the laab again, sai oua (Thai sausage), a side of sticky rice, and papaya salad. We knew this time to ask for extra fish sauce and lime for the laab, better but still missing something... The sai oua is wonderful! My husband makes it with more lemon grass and less fat, but i like Ban Moon's milder version... that i then pair with a ball of sticky rice and dip it into the Moon sauce (you have to ask for it: hot and pungent!) The papaya salad was not quite balanced between sweet, sour, savory, bitter, salty... sour was missing and lime was not enough. Needed tamarind. Service was friendly, fast, attentive, and the portions are excellent for the price... if you get a rice or noodle dish, the portions are HUGE. Went to pick up my order from the other side of town and upon arriving saw they were having problems w/ their credit card machine.  I waited patiently as my food was getting cold on the counter.  After 3-4 minutes, they allowed the two (caucasian) ladies in front of me to take their orders without paying. They then turned to me (hispanic) and told me sorry, their credit card machine was down.  I told them I didn't have cash and they said "sorry." I'm not playing the race card out right, but please tell me what I'm missing?  It's not my fault your machine is down.   They could have even asked me if I could come back and pay for it later and I would have. Nope. All I got was a "sorry." My food was already on the counter.  What are you going to do w/ it?  Sell it to someone else?  Put it back and serve it to the next customer? Eat it? Well, we order from ya'll 2-3 times a month.  I won't be back.  Too bad, because y'all's food is great, but your customer service is beyond belief read more

New to the area & I was absolutely blown away by this Thai Food. Cannot wait to head back (again) this week and try something else! I had the Drunken Noodles w/ shrimp & pork egg rolls. Both felt as if I had stepped into an underground thai spot in a huge city. The food was so freaking good. The sweet chili sauce was incredible, the moon sauce & some spicy sauce were to die for. I usually don't go for Thai outside of my favorite places in LA. So imagine my surprise when I was introduced to such good Thai food in San Angelo, of all places. The crab wonton appetizers were creamy and delicious. My Pad See Ew with chicken was very good. Generous portions too. While it doesn't have trendy decor or my favorite Thai beer, Singha... it's definitely a restaurant to add to my list of San Angelo favorites. read more

I was born and raised a "Southern Soul Foodian" but from time to time I let my "Inner Asian Girl" right on out. If given the option, I'll hands down dine at an Asian Restaurant over any other option so when the Hubs asked me if I wanted to try a "small Vietnamese restaurant down the street" for lunch I was 'all in'. Now normally I'm quick to correct him when he provides a less accurate description of a "person, place, or thing", but he was right about this restaurant being "small" -- and so was the parking lot! It was a good sign that just about every parking spot was full, but I had to wait for him to maneuver his truck into his parking spot before I could pull in right beside him! I could smell the delicious aromas in the parking lot so I did my best not to let the Parking Lot Tetris exercise bother me. Inside, we were warmly greeted and our server Nicole was attentive and very accurate with our order. The Hubs ordered "Curry Fried Rice with Pork" and I split a "Pad Thai Combo" with my daughters, which was more than enough food for the three of us. While my husband loved the portion of his meal, the only slightly negative comment was the overly spicy spice level which some might find okay. I loved my meal which included very tender pieces of shrimp, pork, and chicken for an additional $2.95; however, I counted "2" pieces of shrimp which was a total let down but the overall taste of the Pad Thai was delicious. We dined during the lunch hour and still were served right away which was a huge plus given his tight lunch hour. As a final recommendation, the only two big negatives were the extremely small, awkward parking lot and the one person/family bathroom which could both use some major updates. I called to see if they could make our 25 minute trip worth it by adding an additional order of egg rolls (a $2.95 value, not much of a request) to the egg rolls that they had already failed to provide. I'll drive for 4 egg rolls, not two. After a minute of speaking with a kind server, the owner's wife got on the phone and seethingly told me they were unwilling to help and did not care that they had failed to supply the egg rolls that were paid for. They would give a refund or one order of egg rolls, but in no way did they care to make the situation "right." Lady, we've loved your food, but WOW. It's been a good run, Ban Moon. Visited San Angelo and love Thai but always find myself comparing to my favorite place in Ft Worth (Thai Pakse) which caters to us. This place was simple, the front staff were not in authority to approve nor familiar with their substitution policies but one young lady was new but both ladies were very pleasant and gracious in checking on all our questions to ensure we were satisfied with our order. Great learning experience which gots to start somewhere. Had edamame and California roll which were pretty basic but ok. Entrees were PAD KRA PAO with fried rice which the spicy level was 5 and they did not hold back and had me smiling as I love it SPICY and the veggies were nice and cooked but yet still a little crisp which was perfect. The sauce was bursting with flavor and the rice had a nice roasty flavor and co sistency was fluffy. Loved it!! Second Entree was the PAD KEY MAO - Drunken Noodles which spicy level was 3 and was good for the dish. Not alot of vegetables as i am used to but went with it as is and added cashews. The noodles were not the traditional wide flat noodle but they still nade the dish work and were cooked to perfection and the sauce blended well with all the ingredients and the Basil and baby Bok Choy popped in this dish. They had Thai Chili Flakes which was great addition! Although it took a little time to get orders straight with new staff and my high expectations i have to say overall the experience was Fun and Great! The Crab Ragoons seemed like they were taken out of a frozen bag. Definitely not freshly made. The chicken in the Chicken Satay was dry and boring (sauce was good). The Pad Thai, both Chicken and Shrimp, was pretty generic but the portion sizes were nice and big. read more

Simple Thai restaurant, clean place, with friendly staff. We ordered spring rolls as an appetizer, my mom ordered the combination Pho, and I ordered Tom Kha Kai. The spring rolls were uninspiring. Not bad, yet overly simple and a bit bland. They didn't have any distinctive flavor. No meat. Dry noodles with shaved carrots and a touch of something green that had no flavor. The dipping sauce was too sweet. The combination Pho, of which I have eaten many times in other cities, was a surprise honestly. I couldn't taste anything but chicken broth flavoring. I couldn't taste any meat or beef or marrow flavor. Truly disappointing. Not recommended. The Tom Kha Kai was excellent. Chicken with mushrooms and onions cooked in coconut milk and flavored with lime. Bursting with flavor, this dish is the reason I gave at least a three star. Recommended. I could go back for my soup, but otherwise the food was a bit of a let down. Friendly helpful employees helped lift the disappointment. read more

When you have had really excellent Thai food it sets the bar high. Truth is I have never really had terrible Thai food, except for maybe trying one of those frozen Thai cuisine dinners from a grocery store which are nasty by the way. Ban Moon is not the best Thai I have ever had but it will definitely satisfy your craving. In my experience, Thai restaurants are not really known for their atmosphere, which was no different here. We had the Pad Thai, Pad Kee Mao, and Pad Ginger. The Pad Ginger was a bit too heavy on the onions, Pad Thai was good, and my Pad Kee Mao was good and had some baby bok choi in it which was a nice touch.
