As someone who has been coming here for a good while. I could never complain the most about the service or about the food in general. Here recently prices, food quality, and service has changed. I have noticed that per group and amount you pay is widely different even if it is just two adults. I asked a very sweet woman before I came in how much she payed and it's was around 43+. And it was just her and her young daughter. I payed 45 for 2 adults. The food quality is slightly different based on the times you come in to eat. Which has slowly started catching my attention more and more. The service here is good. Always has been for me each time I come in. Refills, questions, and all the things you expect to get. I have never been treated rudely either or like I am different from other quests, but I have heard with a couple of my friends that they are treated differently. Which isn't good at all for keeping business. When you walk in the place is how it always looks. To me it hasn't seemed to change except a couple of the neon lights not being on. The only problem I would say I have or a couple of comments I have over heard is the trash is overfilled and not taken out responsibly. To conclude what I am stating. Do not come here if you are looking to spend differently each time you come in. Come here if you do not care about that, in all seriousness after today I will not be eating here. If you're looking for crab legs, pass King Buffet. They don't have them and they're nothing compared to King Buffet in San Antonio. So far the only place I can find crab legs is Chang Thai. They never add anything new. Their banana pudding is not real; no bananas or vanilla wafers. And the jello can bounce off the floor. Their service is normally good. read more

Not a bad Chinese food choice by an out of towner. Had to pass the Fabuloso smelling entryway to get to the good stuff. Guess someone was trying to mask musty odors. The dining room smelled like good food waiting to be eaten. The buffet line was packed with food minus my favorite boiled shrimp on ice. Every item I tried tasted as expected except the Teriyaki Chicken on a skewer that had way too much Chinese 5 spice on it for me. Hard to find duck sauce on the line and ice cream in case tasted like ice milk. Some ice cream had no flavor at all. Big let down. I really liked the prompt customer care. Watching locals ( some wearing their city uniforms ) coming in for lunch. Friendly, professional and quite efficient staff and the art display in the center of the restaurant looked spectacular. I did not like that there was no Muzak playing in the background. Maybe some Chinese music playing softly in the background would help liven things up a bit. Overall enjoyed the food. Just don't do it! Go to the airport for Chinese. This place my family loves. My first time trying it thoughts as they are digging in is are we eating the same food because mine taste horrible. I've lost trust in their cuisine judgement. Geez Louise it was bad. It took me two bites but I pinpointed why my sweet and sour sauce tasted familiar in a icky way. It taste like lipstick. How does that even happen? My lo mien noodles were over cooked and it just continues a horrible review of items I tried from there. I was stationed at Goodfellow AFB from 2012-2015 and this was one of my favorite places to eat in San Angelo! Their food is healthy and fresh. Two of my favorites were: salmon and cheese/spinach casserole. The price was fair and you could eat as much (or as little) as you pleased. I would eat there several times a week and sometimes we'd all take a break for a long unch and enjoy the great buffet, nice environment, and friendly staff. Very highly recommended! read more

The buffet has a wide variety of dishes, lots to choose from. There are several good chicken dishes including fried and grilled options. I particularly liked the garlic fried chicken wings. Good flavor and since it's all you can eat, a pretty sweet deal on wimgs. $7.99 for Saturday buffet, not bad. The bulk of these reviews were from a few years ago. Based on that (and being stubborn) we still went. Turns out, bad reviews are timeless. I won't be completely negative about this experience, so here is a list of the good things. Ice cream. ....that's all. Granted, when you walk in, you might be impressed by the layout. A lot of seating, fairly spaced out, koi pond in the middle (because, that's why you come to a buffet, look at the fish and oversized buddhas. ) and it doesn't smell bad. Military/seniors discount, and for $8.99, in theory, that's a great deal. Standard buffet/restaurant trick. Drinks? Sure, I'd love a $1.79 soda/pop/coke (to make all regions happy) that will be offered for refill once. ....two minutes before the check is delivered. On to the food... 'Sushi', mogolian grill, cold food bar, three main dish (term used loosely) bars, dessert, kid food, and ice cream (tasty ice cream). Sushi- first off, if you're going to a buffet because you're having a sushi craving, you're either a moron, have never actually had sushi, or both. Dry/stale rice, more less flavorless and the salad bar salad dressing tub of wasabi looked more like green mayo (also.... zero flavor) It kind of looked like the sushi was under heat lamps, but it was only warm, not hot.. my mistake. Mmm, warm sushi, almost as good as hot beer. Salad/cold dishes- well... room temperature isn't technically hot, but crab salad shouldn't be warm. Impressive jello selection though. I think there were 5 flavors? and entire side of the bar. Love that chinese buffet jello. Again, koi pond and jello. Lifeblood of any good buffet. Main dishes- unlike the cold dishes, these were actually cold. Wait... that's also a bad thing. Damn. Egg rolls- dry, and flavorless. Rice- dry and stale. Noodles- dry, cold, and stale. Mozzerella sticks- cold and rubbery. Kind of like biting into the sole of a shoe. (nothing with flavor yet). Pot stickers- possibly had extra greese dumped on top. still not hot. Fried fish- cold. Shrimp- cold. (maybe they meant to put it on the salad bar. You should get the point by now.... Strangely enough, reaching for the tongs of most of the dishes you could potentially be burned by the steam. Of course, by the time you get back to your chair, that sensation is gone and you'll realize the food is cold. Kid food- really? pizza on a chinese buffet? Gimmie. That looks like Totinos. It is Totinos, but tastes like what I imagine it would if you didn't actually cook it and just let the pizza thaw, then dry out, and then serve. At this point of the meal I remembered the mongolian grill and convinced myself that there was no chance it could be bad as well. Your options include different meats, broccoli, onions, rice/noodles, and baby corn (the stupid ingredient at many buffets). Sauces were (assumption, since they weren't labeled) garlic, oily red spicy, and oilier red spicy. Based off of the food temp of everything else, I opted for beef since that seemed to be the safest of room temperature meats. chop chop, grill grill, why do you keep spraying water on there? grill grill, more water? chop chop, hey... no shit? you're talking on the phone while cooking? sweet gig for you mr chef guy. Oh good, more water sprayed on. Plate it, and done. HOLY SHIT this plate is hot! Perhaps this will be delicious? nope. bland. ....but at least it was hot. Sad and depressed over this awful experience and failure to listen to the advice of the naysayer (more trusting of yelp that I. Naysayer 1, me 0 ) I turn to the ice cream. YAY, ICE CREAM!!!! It was good. 8 flavors and they actually had flavor. Win. As was pointed out to me, there is not such thing as a non-shitty buffet for $9. I still disagree with that, but it's completely accurate for Asian Buffet. I would recommend going here if you're constipated. For that... effective. Other than that? Nope. One other positive. The quarter toy vending machine things. The love donut. I will assume it's meant for the keys of a person that enjoys donuts. This was the best use of my cash here. They get one star for the awesome koi pond that my son was obsessed with. My first hint that this isn't a very good place/authentic at all, is when I ran into an employee at walmart buying every single Totino's party pizza that was in the freezer. Sure enough ,that's what was on the buffet line! The food was gross at best, it was served tepid-warm, everything had cheddar cheese sprinkled on top and it was just... it was just weird. Not Chinese food at all. It's as if someone came up with the brilliant idea to buy all the stouffers family meals and other freezer meals, and put them on a buffet line. The mongolian grill is pathetic and the food from it wasn't good at all, way over-seasoned. I considered giving it a little extra for playing the soundtrack to Glee (volume 1) and the ice cream, but I don't know if that's just because they had no other option or better idea. First off I'd like to comment on the decor l which keeps getting bashed. It's an Asian buffet for goodness sakesand the made the interior very Asian. The bridge over the koi pond is adorible, like many Asian things, the huts where their waiter stations are is just plain genius! Second, the food was a heck of a lot better than some of the other buffets in San Angelo. The hibachi grill was fantastic and there sushi wasn't bad either. I will say that the soup was less than par, but if that's the only complaint I'd still go there any day because I can live without soup. Coming from San Francisco where I am surrounded by authentic Chinese cuisine, it is hard for me to write a review for an Asian buffet located in San Angelo. I normally wouldn't even eat Chinese food outside of the Bay Area just because I feel what i'll get isn't going to be half as good as what i get in SF. That being said, when the boyfriend said he wanted to have dinner at Asian Buffet before my flight back to SF brought some skepticism to me. At under $10 a person for dinner you can't really expect much variety and quality. To my surprise, they offered more food than I had originally expected. So we figured if it didn't work out we could go to Wendy's. Well, it worked out. The staff is very friendly. The place was clean. Such a variety of food!!! I think I read there's 120 different things. I tried the sushi bar - wonderful! The man who worked the sushi bar was so friendly and helpful. I also had several different seafood dishes. One was a mix of crab, shrimp, octopus and jalapeno. Love the Texas spin on it! Hubby went nuts for the baked spinach. He won't pick a favorite but he raved about it. He also had the stir fried beef which he referred to as Asian Fajitas. Anyway, before you listen to too many bad reviews, give it a shot. I'm glad we did. read more

They've changed the name and updated some of the seating areas (which is much nicer than the previous worn-down version). The food and the service however, remain largely unchanged. The quality is not the worst it's about what you expect out of buffet restaurant were you pay 10 bucks.
