Service was terrible , my wife's food was wrong , and my catfish was cold . Had to wait 20 minutes before a server came to take our order . We would have sent everything back but we didn't want to have to wait another 30 minutes for our food . It wasn't like they were busy . There were only 3 other tables at the time . So they were not busy . It took about 20 minutes to get a burger , onion rings and a fish and shrimp . Burger was made wrong and my fish was cold . Then the manager said we did everything wrong by not complaining. We didn't want to have to wait forever to get new food made . I'm from the south (Houston)and I love good southern food and hospitality. I'm in town for work and I found this place and all you can eat fish and shrimp was a great selling point plus the food looks good online. So I stopped in and ordered the Wednesday all you can eat special before Christmas break. The atmosphere was clean and everyone was welcoming. Upon being seated I ordered the special and sweet tea. The food came quickly and was fresh. It looked delicious so I could not wait to eat. The fish was hot and fresh and lightly seasoned. Nothing a good hot sauce could not fix. HOWEVER the fried shrimp was DISRESPECTFULLY SALTY. It was so salty that I couldn't even eat them. So I cut them up and put them in my beans which needed the help because they were bland. I said to myself that I would try again another day and not judge them by one visit. So I went back by today after work. When I arrived I was treated warm and welcoming by the staff there. I asked for the same special again but I remembered the salty shrimp. So I asked that they be lightly salted. The food came swiftly and was hot and looking good. I took one bite and immediately noticed that the shrimp again were disrespectfully salty again to the point tho couldn't eat them. I literally lost interest in my food and immediately and sent it to the trash. My waitress was wonderful. Plus she was attentive plus the food being inedible was not her fault. I tipped her well. I went to the register with my ticket. I was asked if I had enough by the Sam older lady that was behind the register my first visit. I replied that the shrimp was so salty that I couldn't eat them. She mentioned that the cook has a heavy hand with the seasonings. Which I don't understand because you can get a better cook who doesn't over season the food. She said that it may be a bit spicy. I stopped her and said "no it's way too salty. So salty that I didn't eat my food. Which was a perfect opportunity for her to make it right. However she only asked me "cash or card?" Charged me full price and offered excuses for the inedible food. This is inexcusable. This plate was a bit disappointing. I don't like leaving negative reviews but I feel that some cooks don't care how food turns out because it's just a to go order. This shrimp was not edible. My family and I went here for lunch today! I definitely recommend! Everything is battered in house and it's bomb! My husband got the Chicken Fried Steak and enjoyed it a lot. My kids got the chicken nuggets (also hand battered) and they couldn't have been happier! I got the Catfish (extra crispy per my choice) and mannn it was so good. Four of us dined there for supper on 6/28. We use to love this place & always ordered the same thing. We were extremely disappointed. The fried shrimp & onion rings were flavorless. Don't go at lunch if you don't have time. I took my daughter before her appointment at 1:00. We were told they'd seat us in a second, there was a line at the register. As soon as the last person got to the register more came, so we kept waiting. By the time they finished at the register they had time to sit one person before another line formed. Finally it was our turn to be seated and another couple came in and they sat them bypassing us. After 20 minutes of this we finally left and had to eat after the appointment. The AYCE is the usual go-to, but honestly these portions are C. R. A. Z. Y. I usually go with Catfish/Chicken plate and im still getting a to go plate. This place sticks out in my mind for 2 things: 1. Great habanero sauce 2. Chicken.... FRIED.... B. A. C. O. N. Real talk, this a good southern food establishment. Froglegs, CFB, Onion Rings, hush puppies, Catfish. I don't go here with the mindset of eating clean You need to expect fried food and just dive in to that crispy fried goodness. We decided to take a chance because we wanted fish. They sat us down quickly but we noticed more empty tables and thought okay it shouldn't take long. Well another big table was seated after us and we noticed they ordered drinks and were served and then after awhile they took their food order. Well all this time my family and I just sat there waiting for someone to take our drink order. After waiting and then seeing the table next to us finishing their dinner we decided to walk out. I really want to give this place 4 stars, but I can't get over a couple of things having to do with service. We will try it again, and next time I'm getting the catfish!! The good: facility is clean and bright with TVs on (not loudly). The food was great; at least, the man's burger was fantastic, my steak fingers were alittle better than okay. Onion rings are pretty legit. The bad: IT TOOK 45 MINUTES for our food to reach us!! We came in for lunch so had to choke it down and take off in order to get back to work, and my boyfriend was still late. Our infuriating, dim-witted, speed-of-sloth-moving waitress refused to bring me butter, as she is sure (without asking) that they only have the partially hydrogenated soybean crap she tried to pass off in the first place. Fish is cooked perfectly, most of the time. All you can eat catfish and shrimp on Wednesday. If you have a big appetite the all you can eat is the way to go. Restaurant is clean. Bathrooms are private and clean. The tea has a funky instant flavor. I would recommend water or soda to drink. My family and I enjoy a visit here when we get the fish craving. The manager wouldn't even come to our table after the waitress told her the issue. The only solution they would give was to let me order something else. When i checked out I asked if a discount could be given since I didnt want to attempt anything else, but was told they had no other solution. She even argued with me that the shrimp was fresh. I visited with my folks because it's one of their favorite family-owned restaurants in town. The food is prepared to order and is worth the time. The catfish was cooked perfectly; the hushpuppies were flavorful. The salad was fresh. The real stars of this show are the onion rings and French fries. I'm sorry but the fish here is very strange. I was given a plate of tough, overcooked fish strips that from what I could tell were probably fried, frozen, shipped to the restaurant, and then re-heated. The salad that came with my dinner was limp and the thousand island dressing, which I assumed contained mayonnaise did not seem to have been refrigerated. The baked potato was cold, almost raw in the middle, and dry. I assume that it was leftover from previous days. This place has been in business for a long time but if you like catfish save your money and go somewhere else. I am not sure that the fish strips I was served were even catfish. It was not a filet but rather a sliver of fish that was over-battered. I hadn't eaten here since before it burned so the hubs and I wanted to try it again tonight. Delicious. Even the small plate was too much for me. The owner/manager though. She needs s little employee management class. Quite disturbing to watch her berate two employees right in front of us. Like my mama said.....you catch a lot more flies with honey than with vinegar. I tell you one place in this town of San Angelo, Tx we won't be going back to. We were never real fan of the fried catfish from this restaurant but when the choices are limited we made the big mistakes of going back to eat. But never again. We both order a all you can eat catfish plate. I barely ate two off my plate and I get that on all you can eat deals "no biggie bags", I don't dispute that. BUT when you pay for a plate of food with no refills it's your food and should be allowed to take home. The manager and owner of Catfish made it quite clear she didn't care what you thought of her restaurant, you are not taking home your leftovers. She clearly doesn't care if I posted this here or anywhere else. I wonder what she would have done if I would have put them in my purse, tackle me down. She was rude besides looking a little rough. I experienced the worst customer service tonight at Catfish Corner, in San Angelo, Texas! We went to dinner this evening craving catfish, but we were not satisfied with the food or the way we were treated.... We felt like we were being discriminated against due to being the only family in the restaurant that wasn't Caucasian/white. Please judge for yourself As I tell you a story.... As we walk in the owner, of the establishment, greeted us with "just sit in this area and ____ will be your server" we seated ourselves in the area she directed. As we sat, waiting for our food, I notice she was watching us. At first, I tried to ignore her but eventually I got annoyed with her. I told Joe how uncomfortable I felt, but I did not complain to anyone else. When our food arrived, at the table, we began eating and I noticed a piece of HAIR on my food. It was small and black. I showed the hair to my husband then I quietly gestured to get the servers attention. When she came to the table I showed her what I noticed on my food. She left for a moment and requested more catfish to be made. Then she came back to the table, with a plate, to take the food I didn't want away from the table. (The server did her job perfectly) I noticed the owner followed the server back to the kitchen. (This was a nice relief, as I now felt like I could relax. Because she kept staring at us, with a look of disgust, on her face. Before anyone suggests I am paranoid, I should tell you, we were seated against the wall and No one was around us.) When the server returned to our table with "fresh" catfish, the owner of Catfish Corner accompanied her.... The owner then told me "there wasn't any HAIR on your food. I pulled it apart and I didn't see any HAIR. It was pepper, but we had them make you more anyways." (The food they brought back was warm at best) I told her I disagreed, but didn't say anything else because I didn't know who she was. I later asked the server if there was anyone else I could speak with about the issue because I didn't like her attitude or the fact that she was arguing with me about what I saw on MY PLATE. At that time I was informed that she was the OWNER of the restaurant. So I waited until we were paying for our food to confront this lady. Me: "I have NEVER seen pepper a half inch long and so thin." Her: "it wasn't that long" At this point, I was getting extremely upset and I can't remember everything else that was said. But basically she continued to argue with me until I finally got tired of going in circles with this racist person and informed her... "This is not how you should conduct business. If people knew how badly you treat your customers, your business would not continue to flourish. You can not treat people like this" She shrugged her shoulders in a gesture saying she didn't care then told us "SO.. Have a good day and come back" in a rude and sarcastic tone. We walked out peacefully but WE WILL NEVER RETURN! I have never been treated like that. She was rude from the moment we walked into that building. She seemed very inviting to all of the white families. She even walked them to their tables, (instead of pointing in a general direction) she made conversation and smiled as white families came into Catfish Corner. (Instead of giving directions and not even saying hello to us) She Stared at us, making us extremely uncomfortable then decided we were liars and called us just that. read more

Oh my god, this place is amazing. The food is so greasy and delicious. I ate there 3 times in 1 week because I couldn't get enough. It can't be good for you but it sure is good. The only thing I've ever ordered is the large catfish plate which comes with a huge helping of fried catfish, fresh-cut fries or a baked potato, and beans, tossed salad, or coleslaw, all for 8.99. You can get the all-you-can-eat plate for only a buck more. If you're not that hungry you can order the small plate for about 6 bucks. They have more on the menu, I'm just mentioning the most popular items. The waitresses are really nice people too. read more
