I used to love this place. There is a sweet spot for Chinese buffets, and that sweet spot is between one and 11 months after it has first opened. It takes one month to work the kinks out, and a year later they stop paying for advertisement because they're pretty much set in their community by then. Let's go over the highs and lows here. Highs: 1. They still have the fully loaded hibachi table that will cook anything you give them. That's always appreciated. 2. They have cones for their ice cream, and they have the whole thing full of the standard eight different flavors. 3. The different kinds of chicken look like different products and not just the same generic frozen chicken shape mixed in with different sauces. Lows: 1. Their cream cheese wantons are abysmal. Do not eat them. 2. Their sushi is small, tastes generic, and is not as cold as I would want my fresh fish to be at. 3. Their fried shrimp has the consistency of ground up shrimp that was just shaped to look like a shrimp. Very strange. I would not recommend. I'm just gonna stop there, because now I'm sad. The food was sub-par, most of it is bland and does not taste how you would expect. The server we had eventually put the check on the table, left, and came back a minute later when we were still eating. She then was pushy asking me to pay then and there and said "will you please pay? I want to go home." It was an hour and a half until they close and she was pushing us to pay and leave. To top it off, she was hovering over me asking for a tip and actually asking for a certain tip amount. She then pressured us to get some of the ice cream to take home with us. It's lunchtime on Memorial Day 2024 and we are attending a friend's birthday party at "KingBuffet" on 9 mile road in Pensacola, Florida. The very second we enter the restaurant it seems like chaos at the reception stand. My spidey senses were tingling...we sat down at the table in the party room. A fat and not so good looking waitress tells me I can't sit at this particular table. I didn't say a word and then she starts yelling something in Mandarin at me...I see the birthday girl and call her over. She explains to the waitress it's okay, she reserved the entire room...The waitress still upset and get's the manager who discusses with the birthday girl about the seating situation in the party room. While they are having a heated discussion, I left and waited for my dad to finish his lunch at the party. To be honest, the manager was in the wrong because it was assumed the entire party room had been reserved in which he told the birthday girl NO, he can seat other patrons in the party room if there are any empty seats. If I didn't care about the cleanliness, it would've gotten 5 stars. I still don't care but I only gave it 4 stars because it's closed due to COVID and now I hate everything. The food at Super King Chinese was so terrible! My husband and I couldn't believe they could make even broccoli with cheese taste fishy! We were with a group of people and couldn't leave, or we would have! We eat here at least twice a month. The food is usually good and the staff friendly. Again, this is a buffet, so, you get your own food. As a former server, I understand what it means to be a server. Tonight was different. The server in our section stopped 2 young men and asked them about her tip. This is rude and definitely not something a server should do EVER!!! The restaurant had nice ambiance, and was fairly crowded for a Wednesday, always a good sign. The buffet had a good selection, including several non-chicken entrees, and most of the food was fresh. There was also a Mongolian bbq style line with all the typical add ins: veggies, steak, shrimp, chicken, noodles, etc. and a sushi bar that looked half decent (I don't eat sushi @ Chinese buffets, but it looked less crusty than most do). Most importantly, most of the food I had was delicious! What impressed me the most was their plain white rice. It was fresh jasmine rice, cooked to a slightly sticky perfection! Most Chinese buffets treat white rice as an old, crusty afterthought, so it was nice to see such attention to detail. My favorites were the Thai chicken and coconut shrimp, both of which were fresh and very flavorful. Least favorite was the General Tso chicken, which - though freshly placed while I waited - was soupy and mushy. Service was prompt. We were seated fairly quickly, and the waiter kept our drinks refilled and empty plates were quickly removed. Prices are a little on the high side, at about $12 per "adult" (as per a sign, anyone over 5' is considered an adult), and dinner for four (3 adults, 1 kid, 4 regular drinks) was $51, more than I expect to spend at a mid range restaurant without buying alcohol, but the food was hella better than Pace's Grand Buffet charging $10/person, so I guess you get what you pay for. I don't particularly enjoy leaving negative reviews, but I feel as if I should let everyone know my experiences! Where do I begin? The food was cold for some unknown reason. I thought I just didn't eat it quick enough but when I went back it was all still cold. Later that night it gave my fiance food poisoning so bad that hospital trips were made. The following morning I got hit with the same symptoms! Not as bad, but I had it. We had different items on our plates so I'm guessing it's not just one dish that's bad. When you have an off day, and your food is cold and nasty, and a customer complains you should apologize, and hope the customer decides to give you another chance in the future, not ban them from the restaurant. This is shameful of this owner and just bad business practice all the way around. I have been a loyal customer of this establishment for over 15 years and in the past few years the quality has gone way down hill. Last time I was there the food was cold hard and basically inedible. We complained to the owner after getting our first plate of food and not eating but one bite of each item on plate. He responded by saying to leave. I decided to give them one last chance today and upon entering this establishment he promptly kicked us out the moment we walked through the door. This place is a disaster with the new owner. Used to be good so have tried to give it many second chances, however with an owner like that I don't see this establishment staying in business much longer. They have pepper steak that uses way too much baking soda and tastes like soap they have pepper chicken that no longer uses good sauces such as oyster and tastes only of dried out chicken and margarine. They no longer have dumplings of any kind. The shrimp are mealy and gross half the time. And food is consistently left on the buffet for way too long and dries out and gets cold. Not to mention the fact this restaurant has had many health code violations including live bugs in artificial crab meat, slime mold in ice maker, rodents in kitchen, roaches in kitchen and in food. Improper food storage and unsanitary conditions, hand wash sinks in kitchen used as storage. The list goes on and on. I have personally gotten sick from eating here on occasion. You try to help out a struggling owner by bringing some of these issues to his attention and he refuses to believe it's his own doing and acts as if your trying to take advantage of him. Shameful shameful way of conducting business. So you decide but between the bad food, unsanitary conditions that have caused this place to be shut down in the past, and the horrible business practices of this terrible owner, I would strongly advise avoiding this establishment at all costs. read more

King Buffett was absolutely amazing when they opened 15 years or so ago. However, in the last five or six years it has really gone downhill. Today King buffet is back with a vengeance. It is amazing I could not believe the selection at 3 o'clock in the afternoon on a Sunday. One might've thought they would be slow but they were not they were busy busy busy! We came to celebrate a special occasion since they had crab legs on the menu. I think that the wait staff was trying to tell us that they think we had too much because they stopped picking up our dirty plates. My husband is sure that the one waitress said "pig" as she walked by. Now, I'm sorry if the waitresses regret working at an "all you can eat" establishment but I am going to eat about 12 crab legs and my husband will too. How I am the first to review is unknown.... This is the VERY BEST buffet my husband (35 yrs old) and I (26 yes old) have EVER been to! If you're in the area... GO HERE! Their buffet INCLUDES sushi (that is fresh and tastes good) AND HABACHI! You pick out your ingredients (as many as you want) and the chef makes it fresh). Ice cream bar with 8 different delish favors to choose from... And a VERY LARGE BUFFET with TONS of AMAZING dishes that actual taste like something you would order fresh at a restaurant. So the location is already a stretch( dirty in appearance), and the service bottom of the barrel. The food was mediocre but was well stocked. The concern of the quality of the location took place when I attempted to pay for my meal. The waitress remained standing next to our next table, and proceeded to wait for our method of payment. When received she immediately took our cards and proceeded to the front. When she returned she again waited for our receipts to be signed and completed. This place has the rudest wait staff of any restaurant I have ever seen. I once saw some staff members follow customers out into the parking lot to argue about the tip they left. My husband and I don't believe in tipping 15-20% at a buffet where the staff gets you one drink and a straw, but they remember you the next time you come in if you don't and are quite obvious about talking about you among themselves in whatever language. In fact, at this point they now stand and look over our shoulders to see how much we write in for tip. What they don't understand is that tipping is for GOOD service! After this we stopped going for a long time. Giving it a year or so, we thought maybe there had been some changes. Wrong. These waitresses hold a grudge for a long time. I was a bit apprehensive to try this place due to the location, but decided to give it a go this evening. The service was good, everyone was polite and everything was surprisingly very clean. There was a large selection of food to choose from and it all looked and smelled fresh. Everything I had tasted delicious and I didn't have any worry about it being a bit "off", as I have tended to at buffets in the past.
