Ambiance - clean neat. I got take out Service - my order was waiting for me when I arrived. Food - I started out with the fried dumplings appetizer. I could make a meal of these. They are sooo good. I especially liked the dipping sauce. Just the right amount of bitterness. You have to try them. Next I had the roast pork chow mein. It was ok. Nothing special. I tried it on a whim since I had not had it in 10 years. The part that disappointed me the most was the fried noodles. They tasted stale. Nothing like they should taste. Worst Chinese food I've ever had, didn't think it was possible to mess it up like they did. Soggy, mushy, and absolutely no flavor.

This review is based off my order of take-out General Tso chicken that I ordered. Time from placing my order until it was handed to me was about 10-15 minutes. If you order the meal, it comes with a spring roll. The meal itself was piping hot upon getting home. Well the chicken was. I swapped the rice out for noodles. They were bland, lack vegetables, and seemed a bit on the luke warm side. There were three pieces of under cook broccoli on top. The chicken was hot, had a little flavor but left an after taste. The meal came with a spring roll that also didn't have any flavor to it. Sadly enough I didn't get a fortune cookie placed in my bag. The meal cost $10. Customer service was quick but it makes me wonder if every dish lacks that taste you expect because there wasn't anyone else in the place and the owners were sitting in the dining area eating when I walk in. I think the phone might have ringed one time. I don't think I would recommend this restaurant but like I first said, this review is based off one order. I will try a different dish, no time soon though. read more

We started getting takeout from James about a year or so ago. We get take out a few times a month, and we discovered James and it was so much better than our regular restaurant. It was a farther drive and a bit more expensive but worth it. But that last two or three meals we have had has been rather bland, tasteless and not at all spicy. I went in there yesterday ,1/22/24 In ordered lunch and apparently I left $20 that I had of my wallet on the counter or I dropped it and I called to ask if anybody had turned in $20 or $20 and that it was mine... No one seem to know... so I went by there when I got off from work and asked the girl who waited on me and someone was translating for her and she said she saw someone take it... Which is highly unlikely because after I got my food, I sat down in there for at least 30 minutes and ate... She came out and asked me was everything OK and I told her it was I was just eating and then she walked away so I left it or I dropped it there. James' Kitchen has been our go-to takeout Chinese place for years. Their food is as good as ever, and their anti-Covid precautions strike me as first-rate. Any one order/dish (e.g. moo shoo pork) is plenty to feed two; and their hot and sour soup is virtually a meal in itself. Not even a one star rating. We have lived all over the country, maybe that's why our standards are so high for ethnic food. Regardless, the food was not good, even when compared to the small Chinese joint in the rural town I grew up in. The lady at the front counter is not friendly at all and literally threw the bag on the counter and said "here!" Then she walked away. The four customers, myself included, had to figure out who the order belonged to. The portions are tiny and there is hardly any meat in the meat dishes. Very disappointed. We've been ordering from this restaurant since it was a Panda Express (that's many years). We've always enjoyed the food. Lately, they've been changing frozen food suppliers. Their egg rolls used to be really good, but the new ones are bland and mushy in the middle. Today we learned that their pot stickers are different, too. Used to be one of my favorites. Now they are aweful. They use okay quality vegetables and beef in their Mongolian BBQ and Szechuan beef, and their pork fried rice is good too. The sesame chicken and sweet and sour chicken to me isnt that good, but my wife likes it. These are also frozen food from a box, and the next day when you're eating the leftovers, they're as tough as leather. Not much is made fresh in this restaurant. My guess is that it's all frozen food. I would try to say something to them about the declining quality, but the wife who works the front end is not friendly at all. I could imagine her tossing me out of the restaurant instead of being receptive to my constructive criticism. read more

The pupu platter was disappointing, the Teryaki was tough and underdone, what is up w chicken wings in the south that are sold at Chinese restaurants? They are no more than fried chicken, that is NOT a Chinese chicken wing! A Chinese chicken wing is marinated in soy, garlic, ginger, etc, then fried till crispy and served w fresh lemon wedges. The spare ribs, fatty and underdone. There was something I could not decipher that I was told was French Toast, What????? Didn't like it. What I thought was Crab Rangoon was not and when I pulled it apart it was filled w a thick, brick redish colored substance, ilk. The eggrolls were not palette pleasing. There were 2 shrimp that I cannot comment on because neither of us like shrimp. The General Tso's Chicken, tough. Fried rice here is yellow! Not what we are used to in the Northeast. Hint, the fried rice is brown from soy sauce that is part of the frying process. The only thing that was good was the Egg Foo Yung. Back to the hunt for decent Chinese food in the Navarre area. I ordered spicy chicken lo mein and it was great. Wonderful price at around 8 dollars and huuuuuuge portion. I also ordered roast pork soup(6 dollars) which was ok but could have used more broth and less noodles. This place is good the clerk was nice! I recommend chicken lo mein at this place. read more
