It set the stage perfectly for what was to come. Our host was quick and helpful, immediately bringing us big cups of water, which was a nice touch. I ordered the prime rib sandwich and was impressed by its tenderness, pairing it with crispy onion rings. Nicole and our little one shared the mixed platter, which came with two ribs, two pieces of chicken (choice of dark or light), and pulled pork, plus sides of beans and mac & cheese. Everything was flavorful and satisfying. Even Floyd and Casey got to enjoy some scraps, which they happily devoured. Dessert was a highlight: two cinnamon apple bread pudding cakes with whipped cream. Rich, sweet, and indulgent -- we left feeling full enough to skip dinner and ready for a nap. The only drawback was the grease factor. Toast was overly buttered, and overall the food leaned heavy, so be prepared to grab plenty of napkins. While the flavors were excellent, the richness sometimes felt a bit overwhelming. Sonny's BBQ delivers hearty portions, smoky flavor, and a welcoming atmosphere with attentive service. It's a great stop for comfort food on the road, though a touch less grease would make it perfect.

The first visit we stayed during covid in December so it was just our group of 4 and one other couple staying in the resort. It was nice because it felt so private. We stayed in the resort rooms and we were surprised with how nice they are. Everything was clean. It was a bit small but we made it work. The second visit we stayed in their cabins and preferred it more. we got 2 bedrooms and each one had 2 beds so all of us slept comfortably. I loved that the cabin comes with a full kitchen and table so we spent our night playing board games. The park itself has so much to do. There are tons of hiking trails, horseback riding and even boat tours that take you up close to the waterfall. You have to go to the Moon bow at least once in your lifetime. It's when the moon hits the water at the right angle and you see a rainbow at night. It is a cool experience but it does get really crowded so you may want to come early. Cumberland Falls gave me unrealistic expectations for state parks because this what I feel like most state parks should be like.

The trail was a bit slick, but really just strolled to hit the different overlooks for different angles of the surging waters. Snagged a sundae from the snack shop and some gifts from the shop. They have some animals and small exhibits in the Visitor's Center as well. Free to stop, loved seeing the falls! Apparently the only place to see a Moonbow near the full moon in the Western Hemisphere, so that's pretty special!

He wanted to make sure that we had what he wanted to eat since they had stated putting food up for the night. We paid and sat down. The man said that we could stay as long as we wanted and not to feel rushed because they had to clean anyways. We had the nicest waitress. She was very nice and not mad about us being there past closing at all. She was wondering what we were doing all the way in London since we are from the Hazard area. She saw my brother looking for cotton candy but he didn't find any. She came back out with 5 bags for all of us. We wanted to leave a tip for her so we stood outside the door until someone came to open it for us since they had locked it up. The lady was so grateful and gave us all hugs and told us she loved us. Food was very good! Despite it being so late, the food wasn't actually very cold. The place was very nice inside as well. A nice fireplace and modern look. I recommend going here if you're in london and on a budget!

What a surprise to find this gem in the middle of Corbin, Kentucky!…read moreAfter a day of exploring the local forest, we were hungry and did a Google search for something nearby. Surprised when an Indian restaurant with such a high rating popped up, we had to try. We were not disappointed! We chose dishes to share for the broadest dining experience: Keema Matar, Lamb Biryani, Keema Naan, Garlic Naan, and Raita. I have eaten Keema dozens of times before and have prepared it myself, but this, by far, must be my favorite preparation method. The spice combination was traditional with a heat level at medium, which was not overpowering. The Raita was the best I have ever eaten, and it was a new dish for my exploring companion. The Keema Naan, while good, was a bit too much with the Keema. A plain Naan would have been a better choice. Their Garlic Naan is amazing and needs to be on everyone's plate. The Biryani boasted a very subtle hint of saffron running through a huge plate of rice filled with lightly cooked onions and chunks of lamb. Atmosphere: An old fast-food restaurant. So, what? It was clean, if a bit shabby, and I care not. We were there for the food, not to judge the décor. The owner was our waiter. Manoj was charming, knowledgeable, and made several suggestions that enhanced the meal. He also provided small Mango lassis as a sample of what they can do! Next time, I will buy a full-sized one. Thank you, Manoj! We will be back for the Tuesday or Thursday buffet!
