Cumberland Park is one of my favorite state parks to visit. We have visited twice and loved it both times. The first visit we stayed during covid in December so it was just our group of 4 and one other couple staying in the resort. It was nice because it felt so private. We stayed in the resort rooms and we were surprised with how nice they are. Everything was clean. It was a bit small but we made it work. The second visit we stayed in their cabins and preferred it more. we got 2 bedrooms and each one had 2 beds so all of us slept comfortably. I loved that the cabin comes with a full kitchen and table so we spent our night playing board games. The park itself has so much to do. There are tons of hiking trails, horseback riding and even boat tours that take you up close to the waterfall. You have to go to the Moon bow at least once in your lifetime. It's when the moon hits the water at the right angle and you see a rainbow at night. It is a cool experience but it does get really crowded so you may want to come early. Cumberland Falls gave me unrealistic expectations for state parks because this what I feel like most state parks should be like.

A very welcoming and relaxingt enviromenet. We started off with bonelss wees in a sweet chili sauce and blue cheese dressing along with the Salted Pretzel that is served with cheese and honey mustard sauce. This place will be offering a full breakfast after October 1 with A La Carte. However my wife had the Catfish Plater, a combination of the corn meal catfish served with hushpuppies., french fries and fresh cold slaw I had the fried catfish Po Boy on Hogie Roll with amazing Chow-Chow Remoulade. topped off with a slice of bery and pecan pie. The scenery is breath taking. A relaxing getaway from all the rat race, worth the trip to southern Kentucky.

This is a beautiful park with lots of hiking opportunities, the falls, a gift shop, and a visitor's center. The staff in the visitor's center was accommodating with suggestions for not only the park but also nearby restaurants. We stayed in the area for three days to take advantage of the hikes and other attractions, but we could have stayed longer.

If you're looking to find some of the most stunning places in Kentucky, then you must make a trip to this park. Just about any list online of the 'must dos' of Kentucky will include seeing the Cumberland Falls waterfall and moonbow. The park is pretty secluded into the Daniel Boone forest, so you really feel like you are away from everything else. They have a nice lodge, restaurant, cabins, and many awesome trails that you can take. I can see why they call Cumberland Falls 'Little Niagara' even though there is nothing little about it! There are also many different overlooks to get some awesome views. This is probably one of the coolest state parks that I've been to in Kentucky. Even in the winter, we saw many visitors from other states, so that really tells you something!

Hubs and I went to this state park for the first time with friends. They said that there was a bunch of walking trails that I could see the beautiful falls. While We couldn't walk really close to the waterfall because of the dangerous aspect, it will still just as beautiful. There is a gift shop and a snack machine and picnic benches. Plenty for everyone. While cell reception wasn't that great on our way to the park, it was really great at the park itself. We saw some people down at a beach area past down the waterfalls; and we made it our mission to find that same beach area. We weren't disappointed. The dogs loved being able to get into the water to rehydrate their cool jersey cloth on them. My 10.5 year old dog loved the walk; but he didn't like the last 10 steps, as they were metal and sharper on his paws and harder to walk on. But he was determined and made it work. All in all, we had such a fantastic time and we will definitely be back. Perhaps go to the surrounding trails that aren't as commercialized, as we like going on adventures without tons of people around.

No moonbow when I visited, but the park has a nice constructed pavilion with various views of the falls, as well as a substantial beach area below them. Much of the area above the falls was blocked off for safety. There were a few trails in the area, but most of the Daniel Boone National Forest is substantially north of this park, which is where more hiking space seems to be.

Great experience for all ages! Words say much and pictures give a portrait of a profile as if looking through a window of imagination. But, Only seeing one of the most magnificent natural wonders of beauty can be appreciated with your own eyes. Why? Because my own pictures do no justice to it beauty as being at the falls that you must see for yourself! Located in the Daniel Boone National Parks system it one of many destinations known through Kentucky and Tennessee. A 200+ drive from Louisville was worth the travel. Once in the park you can witness lookout with breath taking views stretching for miles. Leading down calm winding scenic forests on the smoothest roads. There is so much to see. From children's activities to unsurpassed hiking trails of grandeur. Picturesque as your eyes can witness. Now go and see one of the most unforgettable National Parks treasures.

How can you NOT have any maps of the area Being OUT is not acceptable...the fact that there was NO SIGNAGE to direct us the the CAMPER/RV sites was bad enough Beautiful park ...camper spots a bit tight to one another Fire pit facing the wrong direction.. Other than that I'm happy so far

On a girls trip we enjoyed the day at the resort. We LOVED the horse trail ride. A fantastic experience. Afterwards we had a lovely little lunch at the restaurant in the resort. The food was nicely done and we had very good service. I can't rave exactly about the food, but it's better than in have had at other similar inns/resorts. The patio at the resort has a lovely view of the river and the forest. The falls was beautiful!! The park that surrounds it is also very pretty! Lots of great places to sit, large rocks & picnic tables. The gift shop was cute, and the staff was helpful. All in all it was a perfect day. Maybe next time we will get to hike or go on the rainbow mist ride!u

One of the most beautiful places I've ever been! Beautiful fall colors and fun hiking trails galore! Lots of people in the more popular spots, but plenty of opportunities await off the beaten path to explore in solitude. If you love waterfalls, critters, forests, and hiking, this is the spot to go east of the Mississippi! Be sure to bring in food if you plan to stay all day, otherwise you'll need to drive 20 min each way to the nearby town of Corbin to eat. Also - dress appropriately for hiking! There are lots of roots and rocks/boulders on the trails; expect scrambling and steep hills. If you're out of shape, you may want to stick to the paved or groomed trails. Absolutely gorgeous!

Beautiful place to walk and see. Have been several times . The hiking is great , great trails and scenery is amazing.

Very pretty falls! I will say this park is heavily populated by people and families in case you're looking for a less touristy nature spot. I didn't get to see the Moonbow, but heard lots of people talking about it. The park is in good condition and bathrooms are clean. There's gem mining for the younger children and a rainbow scenic boat tour. I didn't do any of those, so I cannot talk about those experiences but they are offered for those interested!

The waterfall was beautiful! There is a place to view the falls as it overlooks it or you can follow the trail and signage for the lower view. Both were nice! I found the park by the gift shop and falls to be well kept with picnic tables and trash cans available. But you know, sometimes people are gross and just throw stuff down. If you come across that please pick it up. It's your park too and don't let it stop you from enjoying the falls. The gift shop was cute and full of this and that tourist stuff. The check out was smooth and the service was pleasant.

How long does the hike take?

Depends on which falls you are going to, but the short one opposite the Eagle Falls took about an hour.

Land truly worthy of the protection of the National Park system, you get 85 miles of hiking trails…read more 37 square miles of mostly wilderness, and the landscape is awesome. That said, I'm going to complain lightly about a few things anyway. First, the real reason for the park is a story of European conquest -- the great westward expansion of the colonists through the gap and into Virginia and Tennessee territory. While we have more spectacular Appalachian parks in Great Smoky Mountain NP, New River Gorge, and Shenandoah, this one is really here for that historical aspect. (The gap of course was also used by big game as well as trappers and traders, of course.) So for those of us who really just want to enjoy the mountains, this isn't really the top destination, but it will certainly do. Then there is the general problem of understaffing and weak resourcing. We found trails near the town of Cumberland Gap to be well-maintained, but they also clearly have a massive problem of spreading kudzu. I'm not seeing that likely to change if we don't better resource that effort. Support of the parks is a federal line item, and the postwar consensus to do so is a thing of the past. Also worth noting -- lodging options are limited here. We stayed instead at Pine Mountain State Resort Park in Kentucky, which has a very good lodge and some very charming old cabins and cottages. (I didn't look carefully at campground options, but I know those exist too.)

I will admit that we originally did not go in with high expectations. We saw the $8 price tag and thought that meant this cave must be underwhelming with the price being THAT low compared to all other tours that we have been on. Gap Cave was the 29th cave/cavern that we have visited in the US. When I tell you that we were pleasantly surprised, that is the understatement of the century. We loved the experience of getting to use the flashlights to light our own path while in the cave. The hike to the cave itself is super beautiful. Our tour guides(Lucas, Dylan, and Mackenzie) were amazing. You could see all of their enthusiasm for their job which is always great to see! Gap Cavern has an amazing amount of formations. We enjoyed our tour here more than the Domes and Dripstones tour at Mammoth Cave. The visitors center of Cumberland Gap National Park was also super nice! The employees and rangers were so friendly and kind! We highly recommend making this stop!

But make no mistake here -- the state park and the hiking trails are really very good and very well-maintained. We did have a 2-night stay in a cottage that is at least 50 years old - maybe more - and we were very happy with its offering modern amenities (thermostat, full kitchen, wifi) in an old wooden cabin. Nearby Honeymoon Falls is a a loop trail that is every bit as good as anything we saw in Cumberland Gap National Park, and we also thought highly of the Chained Rock trail, silly as the chain story is. The lodge seems nice too, although we didn't stay there. The dining area is a little more utilitarian looking than I might hope for from a 100 year-old lodge, but the view from the big windows makes up for it. The food? Yeah, it's nothing special. But we've seen worse from similar places. If you're here for the food and not for the other stuff then yeah, rethink your life choices or do some soul-searching.
