We were in town yesterday and decided to stop in for a late lunch. It was not crowded. We were waited on and seated quickly. I have eaten here several times for lunch and the food is always good. My daughter and I both had the Bison Burger with Sweet Potato Fries. My wife had the Rueben Sandwich with Fries. Only complaint is the Rueben should be on Marbled Rye Bread with more Sauerkraut. They have a full bar and pub style food. The place is always dark dim lit, giving it sort of a dive bar feel. They do have TV's for watching your favorite sports. read more

The Abbey is an icon of Fontana. It is a great place for food, drinks or relaxing. I would highly recommend the Abbey!

The Bison Burgers and sweet potato fries are amazing. Check out the soup selection as well. It has a pleasant atmosphere, great food, and excellent staff. This is a fantastic place to eat. It is conveniently located and has a variety of menu items. We do not get to London often, but we will definitely be back. The Abbey is a local restaurant/bar in downtown London. It's an easily accessible place with great parking options. It's super dark inside so be prepared to pull out your readers. I've always sat at the bar and had great service. They have a good happy hour during the week which I like to take advantage of. I've not had the food yet but will update the review as soon as I do. We stopped on our way to Florida to get some takeout. We ordered before we arrived. I sorts pick.. i usually dont eat much meat... never had a hamburger.. and not a fan of fries. They had crab cakes .. im usually ok with that. My hubby ordered the fries porkcutlet with chips. So we ordered and headed there for take out. We are traveling with our dog and its hot out so eating in the car the best option. When a mile away they called an informed us the crab was not an option. Sighhh the crab cake was the only thing that appealed to me. They were very sweet and apologized.. several times. I just ordered some of the fried green tomatos. He really like his chips and sandwhich.. he said it was thicker than most ..more like a pork chop flattened a bit and breaded. He was great with that. My fried green tomatos were very fresh and hot. We stopped here on the way to Lexington for a family dinner while traveling. The food was pretty good and the restaurant nice and inviting. We had the black bean burgers and the salmon. The burgers weren't cooked quite enough but the salmon was good. The onion straws were delicious. The server was friendly but very distracted. The place wasn't very busy but we waited about 10 minutes to be greeted and place our drink and appetizer order. They came within a reasonable time but the entrees took about 40 minutes with no explanation from the server or checking on us in the meantime. We had to wait quite a while to close our check as well with the sever literally looking at us holding the check and him walking the other way. Maybe it was an off night. read more

Quite place straight across from the copper penny, lovely interior that makes you feel right at home. Sampler platter was excellent, chicken tenders and mozzarella sticks were great, potato skins were good. Cheese burger was great, fries were amazing and were the best I've had in a long time, and steak was quite good, cooked to a perfect medium well. Server was nice and sweet, and was good on service. Visited The Abbey for the 1st time last week for lunch with two other first time associates. The waitress was pleasant and took our orders promptly. After 40 minutes we got lunch sandwiches served. One was a burger that my associate said was 'OK'. One was a chicken sandwich that my friend said was 'not OK'. Their fries were wimpy and undercooked. My fish tacos were the worst excuse I've ever seen. Two supposedly soft tacos that were as hard as cardboard. Raw cabbage and no sauce was spooned into them. Then the fish was laid on top, both pieces overcooked hard brown and curled upward to not fit in the tacos at all. I picked up the fish and ate one of the very crunchy burnt pieces without the taco. My friends asked for ketchup for their fries, and ten minutes later were brought a tiny cup half full of ketchup. On leaving I asked for a drink refill to go, and after ten more minutes was brought a child's cup. I laughed and was embarrassed for management. Will not return. read more

I was soo wanting to like this place, I just moved to town and making my way around to all the dining options, I eat out ALOT, and this place is just min from my house. I would be a regular if only.....: I called ahead with order, upon arriving I stood at the bar while two servers walked past me repeatedly and would not even make eye contact for 10 min, my food was sitting in front of me already to go....finally one server ask me who I was....a few min later she came and cashed me out. I don't know if the owners have given up or just not experieced cooks. My fried battered mushrooms may be the worst thing I have ever received from a restaurant, definitely frozen.... one bite and a mix of oil and water gushes out, absolutely horrible... I ordered plain wings....I would have thought the would have some kind of seasoning....nothing...overcooked and bland. I can stay home and reheat frozen food myself. read more

We come up here and watch concerts at Renfro Valley very often and we stop here and eat because they are open later and have really enjoyed it.But we come buy tonight on a Saturday night and it was closed at 11:06. And just to make sure I asked a girl in there wiping the tables down if they were closed and she said yes, because the doors were locked.. And the sign on the door said open till twelve and on the website it said open and it said closes at 12. So it's really disappointing. When you drive out of your way to come here to eat after a show and then find out they're not open. read more

I had a pleasant experience here for the first time while on a work trip. The atmosphere is awesome. Plenty of booths and tables around and then a separate bar area with lots of seats. They also play great music in the background-mix of country, classic, oldies. They have WiFi!!!! So save ok your data, folks. In addition, they have great, attentive service. Food and drinks were served quickly after ordering. Various drink specials including $2 draft domestics most nights! The fried green tomatoes and the spicy ranch sauce were AWESOME. They compete with a place I eat from back home. The bison burger was cooked and seasoned well. Bread was soft and warm. The sauce was a little bland but that's the ONLY complaint with food. Came here after the Redbud Ride, so I was pretty hungry and ready to eat. Initially, service was really good but I think it fell flat after our order was taken. Not that I expect a server to be overjoyed to bring food out to my table, but good attitudes from the staff makes a dining in experience pleasurable, in my person opinion. I did not feel that here. Once the waitress came to our table to fill our cups after visiting a table prior and whispered something along the lines of "that's what kinda day it is" after the customer asked for thousand island. Regardless, I thought the food was good for a simple and light meal! I did ask for a side of BBQ sauce that I never got, but it was not necessary. The chicken was marinated and grilled to perfection. The vegetables in the salad were also very fresh and the cheese was actual cheddar, not the powdery kind you sometimes get at restaurants! We were staying at the Baymont up the street. 10% discount with room key. Nice place, clean. Seated immediately. Coke products. The waitress was one of the sweetest people you will ever meet! Appetizer was good combo: potatoes skins, chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks. Jenni got the Abby salad - well made, huge amount of chicken on top. I had Ruben. Wasn't rye bread but perfectly toasted, meat was little over salted, little light on kraut. (Have to admit I am a bit of a Rubeun snob). We stopped in after a visit at Cumberland Falls this afternoon. The restaurant is very charming from outside to in. Our server was so nice and very quick to get everything we needed. My daughter opted for the chicken Alfredo, she said it was so good and brought the extra home for later. My son had a bacon cheeseburger and fries with cheese and bacon, he devoured every bite. My husband enjoyed the bison burger and a baked potato. He enjoyed every bite as well. I had the grilled Buffalo chicken sandwich and fries. The Buffalo sauce was very good, not too much heat. Cheese was melted perfect. The chicken was juicy and cooked perfectly. No pictures because we were all so hungry from traveling. Great service and food, we will return! read more

This place is becoming my favorite place in London, Kentucky! I absolutely love the atmosphere. If you are looking for a great small restaurant where the owners come and personally serve you. They also have a great bar with lots of selection! My personal favorite to eat here is the amazing chicken bacon and Swiss sandwich! The chicken breast they serve you literally spills over nearly every side of the bun. I haven't been disappointed once with the food here. I will warn you though, if you try to reserve part of the restaurant it will cost you $500! The only problem that I have ran into is that some of the staff seems slightly scatter brained. I wanted to try this restaurant, but after the experience of the hostess laughing when we ask to sit outside we didn't get to, because we left. She sent us outside to sit and every single table in front was dirty with food all over them. My husband had went to the restroom and overheard her telling the waitress a couple came in and ask to sit allll the way in front and she was upset over that. Let me remind you ... there are tables for outdoor seating there. Very unprofessional to let customers hear this or act like that. We were in London for the Wildcat Motorcycle class, so needed a place to relax and eat afterward. The place is nice in downtown London. Cute inside. We decided since the weather was nice to eat outside. The servers were friendly but the attention to service was not as good when you are outside. We did not see much of our server. We asked about what is good on the menu, one suggestion was the Ruben. I will tell you it was not your normal Ruben. It was not on a toasted marble rye, instead a regular bread that was over buttered and soggy. The corn beef on the sandwich was lean but it lacked that great first bite. I ate the corn beef out of the sandwich. We did order an appetizer. We were excited about the Fried green tomatoes, it was ok, we had small slices and over breaded. My friend and I are use to a thicker green fried tomatoes with more flavor. It was our first time, next time we will see if other items would be better. read more

Initial thoughts: came in for a late lunch, restaurant wasn't busy but that's to be expected at 2pm 2 days post Christmas. Decor is evoking the other London. The floors look a little neglected after the post lunch rush. Walls have some noticeable chipped paint and dry wall. Ordered the shrimp po boy and homemade chips for lunch. The po-boy is spectacular. Shrimp are perfectly fried, how they got tomatoes this good in December I have no idea. Could use a touch more roulade. Chips had a good texture and were made fresh. Needed a bit more seasoning though. Found out they have only been open a week, so I'm hoping they will continue to improve. After reading the reviews we decided to go a little off the beaten path (from the interstate) and try this local place. The service was excellent. The beer selection was not amazing- but they did have a yummy lighter beer cougar bite. We started with the fried green tomatoes that came out hot and fresh. We ordered burgers- our vegetarian son had the black bean burger. The beef burgers were very good, but the veggie one left a little to be desired. Great drink special and reasonable prices on most everything on the menu. The burgers were delicious and I would definitely go here again if ever passing through the area. The wait staff was friendly and did an excellent job. Parking could have been a little easier, but once you go around back there are extra spots. We ate at the Abbey last night were very disappointed. We were greeted, seated and got our drinks promptly. That's where it ended. I ordered crab cakes, baked potato, and fried green tomatoes. The crab cakes were tasteless and made out of canned crab, the baked potato was hard and barely warm, and the fried green tomatoes were hot, but were not freshly made, but a frozen product. My husband had salmon, cole slaw, and potato salad. He said it was ok, but nothing special. It took forever for the food to come out, and was disappointing. read more
