In an effort to finally complete the brewgrass trail passport we made a trip to Harrodsburg and Lemons Mill. The bar area had a cool vibe and the beertender was very welcoming and talkative. They weren't busy and our table was near the bar so he happily chatted us up the whole time. They have mostly beers that they have made but also some from national breweries as well as some domestics. Overall the beers we tried were just ok but the variety and service make it a place to try out.

Current tap list. They have 13 of their own brews on tap.

One of my favorite breweries. It's a bit of a drive to get here but well worth it. They have a bunch of their own beers (13 on tap the day I was here) and another 11 guest taps. I tried the Red Headed Shroom a pomegranate wheat on a very hot day and it was delicious and refreshing. I've tried flights of their beers on other occasions and they have all been amazing. One of the best things about Lemons Mill is there is always at least 1 gluten free beer on tap. If you happen to be here when the owners are here make sure you say hello. They are wonderful guys and very nice. Lastly there is almost always a good truck here with some tasty food to wash down your beer.

We have seen this brewery go through many changes since they first opened. From an expanded bar to an extended patio for private parties groups. Definitely a great addition to the downtown Harrodsburg area. They have won several medals for their own beers. My favorite being their Dunkel, they won a medal from Ireland for this beer. They have 24 taps with half being their own and the other half from other craft breweries as well as a domestic Thursday - Saturday they have food trucks at their location, check out their FB page for their food trucks of the week.

From the outside, you may drive straight past the unassuming, industrial building, not thinking this as a gathering spot. Go on, step inside. You'll find a cozy and fun tap room offering a very large selection of their house beers. During the holidays, they had several seasonal brews (6 or 7 I think) including a unique Key Lime number that just tickled my taste buds in the best way! The staff were very helpful and fun to chat with.

Lemons Mill is a craft brewery I have followed since the beginning and I must say they have definitely stayed close to there roots with this location. The staff were friendly and the beer was good I was let down by some of there offerings but overall most beers were really solid. During my visit they had roughly 16 beers on tap all of which were made in house, and the brewery had plenty of places to sit and visit even with the covid-19 restrictions there was plenty of room in the bar. This place is a solid local brewery and somewhere I would definitely visit again.

Great Tap room, very vast and inviting! We have never been here so we need to get a flight each. I got the dark ale( Bullocks), blonde ale ( H2A2), dunkel ( Schadenfreude), and fall ale ( 4th and Goal). My favorite which we didn't get in out flight was the Dr. Peckerweizen(Hefeweizen). The bartender was super friendly and knowledgeable about the beers.

This brewery has a pretty cool tasting room. There is a bar and also seating area with couches. They also have an outdoor seating area. We chose to sit at the bar and were not disappointed. The bartender was polite and very helpful. He was dressed in a kilt but for some reason I never asked him why. My wife and I both tried separate flights of their beers. Most of them were really good. After talking to the bartender more, he let me sample a couple of others that I did not select for my flight. These were good and I got a pint of one of his suggestions, I just cannot remember the name of it. I believe they have food trucks but we were there very early so we did not eat. If we are back in the neighborhood we will be sure to stop in for drink.

This bar is so cool even the dogs love their beer!

After a day long visit to Shaker Village, a 10 minute drive to the Old Owl Tavern (part of the…read moreBeaumont Inn) was the perfect choice for dinner. As soon as we parked the car we were greeted by a ginormous need of mint...the scent was inticing. The tavern does not take reservations and we arrived at the perfect time, around 5:30. But 6 pm the bar was full and most of the tables were also filled. The tavern had good character, dark, woody...with photos of rick houses on the wall along with paintings of two fierce owls. We were greeted immediately and had the pleasure of being served by the most pleasant and efficient waitress. Enough choices for bourbon, some good drafts, and a deliciously made dry martini (along with a coffee for our tea toatler yesterday) started is off. There was a nice selection of specials for the day...some of which only a true southerner could appreciate (fruit gel topped with mayo, tomato spicy over cottage cheese topped with mayo) and some like cream of broccoli soup and steak boardelaise that even a yank could appreciate. Our table settled on two orders of fried catfish which came with a choice of two sides...baked potato and coleslaw were the choices. One of our diners choose the fried chicken livers that came with cream gravy...she chose the broccoli soup and corn pudding as her sides. Our tea toatler chose the country fried steak. I will term you that everyone cleaned their plates...it was that good. A final round of coffee, the OK from the waitress that we could pick some mint (which was planted in our garden at home) and we were off. Guess who is coming back? Me!!!

Table for three was cleared and handed to us promptly (they don't take reservations)…read more Drinks were great (old fashioned and manhattan). Server was attentive and friendly. House salad was fresh with fantastic blue cheese dressing I assume was house made. Chicken livers were impeccable--crispy outside and tender and delicious inside. Gravy was nice (hint of nutmeg?) mash was acceptable but not outstanding. Chicken my companions had was good. Banana cake was outstanding! Cobbler was undercooked and not tasty (they gladly subbed in an orange/lemon cake which was great) bread pudding and cobbler both looked a little sad next to the cake portions. Perhaps think about human nature when you are pushing out desserts. It is very easy to feel let down when your dessert is tiny and your neighbor's dessert is huge! Just a thought. Recommend highly! Atmosphere, service, food, the whole picture.
