We stopped at Limestone today because we heard great things about the distillery and the tours. We loved the bar and the build your own old fashioned options. We opted for the black walnut and orange bitters, which was an excellent pairing. Even better, we were able to take our cocktails on the tour with us. I wasn't as impressed with the tour as others were. The operation is extremely small. From the raised platform above the fermentation tanks, you can see everything. It was a high level walk thru. The tasting was intimate. Our host Kim did a great job walking us through the tasting experience. My favorite was the Minor Case Rye paired with the orange truffle. The other bourbons weren't in my flavor profile, so this is probably my only time coming here. read more

Lovely establishment but not a whole lot to look at here? If you aren't aware, the produce the widely popular Yellowstone labeled bottles. I'd never tried Yellowstone so ordered a flight and took the advice of the fella at the bar. We ended up enjoying the 7yr single barrel the most. Folks are nice. Tours were all booked up and not to sure how that would work as there are a couple of smaller out buildings? Maybe you get in a van to go visit the bottling or rickhouse. read more

We came across Yellowstone Bourbon about 2 years ago. the name grabbed me because of the series. not related at all btw. lol But, we loved the bourbon so, when we found it at the KBF, I bought a bottle. We were offered a free distillery tour and we went the next day. So glad we did. What a beautiful property. I wish we could have stayed longer but we were on our way home to east TN and had to jump back on the road. But, the tour was fun and better than the other distillery tours we did that weekend. Sommer was great. One recommendation is to visit Lux Row first for the complimentary flight card for here. We didn't know and found out about it during our Lux Row visit. We did the handpicked tasting and it was just right. You can only do so many tours before it becomes the same thing and it was really nice mixing it up. We went on the tour and tasting. You watch a video in the lobby/gift shop first and then a walking, one flight of steps, tour into the distillery. Then to the back of the building for an out of barrel tasting and then into the tasting room. Our tour guide was so nice and handled the large tour group well. Bought a couple of bottles to further enjoy when i return home. Certainly a smaller venue as compared to other distilleries in the area, but they make you feel like part of the family. Small place. We were the only ones there. It made for an intimate experience to be able to talk to the bartender while we did a tasting. My wife had the famous bourbon bacon bloody Mary. Gift shop. They do have tours. It is on the Kentucky craft tour. They make Yellowstone bourbon and minor case rye. They also make a gin. It's owned by Luxco. Which is owned by MGP. read more

My fiancé and I visited Limestone Branch Distillery after we did a tour of Makers Mark - so glad we did! This is a small distillery but does offer tours, tastings and has a plentiful gift shop. We weren't able to do a tour but wanted to do a flight. The two bartenders we spoke with were very friendly and knowledgeable about the different bourbons and gin that Limestone makes. The bourbon was very good and we especially liked the gin - it seems most bourbon distilleries don't make gin so we were happy with the variety! Be sure the add this distillery to your stops on the Kentucky bourbon trail. The Yellowstone family recipe bourbon was the most unique bourbon I've ever tasted; it was grassy and earthy, and the recipe is said to be the original from hundreds of years ago. We took home a bottle of Gin, which was more on the mild side; it was smooth and has hints of parsnips which is my favorite flavor in American Gin. I recommend getting to your tour early or plan to stay after to get a cocktail at the bar. The Bloody Mary is spectacular and the Bacon Salt rim tasted like BBQ chips. The Moscow Mule was the best I've ever had because they use a ginger syrup with Ale 8, with made it taste so fresh. read more

We were first introduced to Minor Case at Deadwood's Big Whiskey Event. Out of 60 offerings, it was one of 3 we purchased. What a FANTASTIC visit! We've hit 8 spots &, while each had something great to offer, this stop had a far less scripted feel. The staff encouraged an interactive experience & we were fortunate to have an excellent group. No rushing, very relaxed.. Bonus for the spreading of samples through the tour. This was our first stop & easily a favorite! Paige was our guide. We had the most incredible time out at Limestone Branch Distillery! We did the "An Evening of Whiskey & Cigars", this tour was off the charts with Stephen Fante. We got to hear great stories and history told by Fante. Such a special experience to finish the tour off with cocktails on the patio with him to hear more. Sommer provided a personalized experience for our family for the tour and tasting. The bar was a great relaxing time prior to the tour and the gift shop was excellent afterward. We picked Limestone Distillery due to our son picking Yellowstone as his favorite flavor and value bourbon. What a great experience we had at Limestone Branch Distillery. The tour started with an informative video and then our guide Sommer took over the show. She was not only informative but very entertaining. She made us feel so special, like we were the only tour she had that day. We had another tour, but she encouraged us to come back later and have a cocktail at their bar. Because of the way Sommer treated us, we did come back and enjoyed three different flavors of Old Fashioned and a Strawberry Gin Sour on the patio. Sommer came out to check on us and see if we needed anything else, and suggested a great bbq place for us to eat dinner. We will go back again. read more

Thomas was outstanding! Being that it was a smaller distillery, I already knew that it was probably going to be the most personable tour and interactive tour. I really enjoyed getting to learn about the history of Limestone and the timeline of folks who were behind the creation of the distillery. The story behind why they have a bottle called Yellowstone was very interesting and tasty. I enjoyed looking at all the collected artifacts by one of the founders. After going to some large distilleries, it was such a change to see everything on a small scale and learn about their production of 8-9 barrels a day. I liked how Thomas went through each of the bottles in the fermentation room - heads, tails, and I'm forgetting the last one, but he made it fun! We also got to see the gin still and all of the vats of mash cooking away and tasting it, too! The shipping container rickhouse was so cute with the barrels that came along with a taste. The beginning of the tour we had a taste, too. The magic happened in their beautiful tasting room and Thomas went through each one that we tried. He also had a sample of Minor Case and their 19 botanicals gin to sample. We thoroughly enjoyed this tour. The distillery has a very inviting feel, and I could see ourselves coming back to relax on their front porch area and attempting to pet their cat, Corky. He was one of the tour highlights for sure. Big ol orange kitty! I highly recommend this tour! We were in town for the Bourbon Fest and to celebrate a big birthday. We had a bottle waiting with my boyfriend's name on the bag when we got there. I prearranged with our Innkeeper/Host who has painted some of the Limestone labels to have a bottle selected for my boyfriend. We did the Bourbon Trail and I have to tell you they did the best tour/tasting we experienced. Small distillery, and you get to take your own sample directly from a barrel in a rickhouse. Yellowstone came about prior to 'the show' and they acknowledged that their bourbon brand name has exploded in popularity because people think it is related to the show. But honestly? What a great distillery to visit! It is small so your tour is very personal. We had a great guide who provided us with lots of information about the process and the history. They also distill gin - make sure you try some it is the best gin I've had. Loved their tasting, they provide oyster crackers and a few chocolates. At the end of the tour they wrap up your water glass and you can take it with you. They have a nice little bar area outside where you can enjoy a cocktail and a resident cat who likes to visit. What a host, entertaining, knowledgeable amd funny. We took a regular down and I almost feel bad because now he thinks all distillery's do barrel picks are like this.
