Pitiful business. Skip this one, there are many other selections for suds and food in Danville that are far superior.

On a recent trip to get out of Louisville on Derby Weekend my wife did some looking for something…read moreto and Lemons Mill Brewery was one of those stops after a 2 mile hike (up hill, all the way) at Shaker Village. Kind of an unassuming place, Lemons Mill Brewery isn't all about the hype and outrageous signage, but more about the laid back atmosphere and about being genuine. And it hits that nail on the head. On this Saturday we walked in and sat at the bar, looking for some liquid/cooling refreshment. We were immediately greeted by Colin (as I recall) who engaged us in conversation and answered questions about the beers on tap. It wasn't long before I arrived on my flight of choice for this afternoon. Although they featured beers brewed by Lemons Mill they also had brews on tap from other breweries. I'm the kind of guy who's generally interested in the house brews, so that was my focus. My flight of four were all great picks, and I especially liked the G-Spot Jalapeño Ale. As we sat at talked to Colin and with Keith (one of the owners) the time started to fly by. They were both genuinely nice guys who knew a lot about beer and LOVE what they did. We had an absolutely FANTASTIC afternoon. So much fun, in fact, that my wife even ordered a cider (and that, my friends, does not happen often). It's bigger than it looks on the outside, with a sizable bar, quite a few tables, and all their brewerying equipment out in plain sight. They're not hiding a thing. I wish Lemons Mill was closer to home, but at about an hour away it's really not that far from J-Town. Don't pay attention to reviews that knock this place down for its location or exterior appearance. They're wrong. The heart of Lemons Mill is inside. OH...and I have a 4-pack of the G-Spot Jalapeño Ale at home.

I hosted an event here and the owners were truly so wonderful to deal with but I have to highlight Keith. He was such an absolute GEM of a human, he helped me decorate for the party and was so helpful throughout the evening, seeing to it that every single one of my guests was taken care of and we had everything we needed. They have an impressive beer list that I'm pretty sure Keith brews, including some fun and unique offerings like ones that incorporate jalapeño and peach and mango. The mango was particularly delicious and puts Mango Cart to shame! The place itself is super cute and well decorated and I know if I was local I would have spent a lot more time there. They also arranged a local BBQ spot to cater, which was delicious. I truly thank these folks from the bottom of my heart for their stellar beer and wonderful hosting skills and hope they THRIVE, as they deserve.

After leaving yet another distillery, the ladies in our group wanted to head to Georgetown for some shopping. The other guy in our party was about as thrilled at the idea of shopping as he'd be about getting a root canal without anesthesia--and I was in full agreement. As we searched for a parking spot along the crowded Georgetown Main Street, I spotted Chinquapin Brewing and immediately declared that the men would be there. "Just come pick us up when you're done," I told them. My wife and our friend were more than happy to leave us in front of TVs and beer while they wandered in and out of the local shops. It was the first time either of us had been to the brewery. Right away, I loved seeing the brewing equipment set up in the back of the bar. We scanned the QR code on the table and pulled up the beer menu. I'm a big fan of red ales and was happy to see one offered. My friend is less adventurous than I am, so he stuck with his tried-and-true Guinness. I opened a tab, and we started enjoying our beers. The red ale was very good--so good that I ordered more than one. My friend's Guinness was going down way too easily, and he ordered another as well. Eventually, the ladies came to retrieve us, and my wife even added a bourbon to my tab. We sat together and enjoyed one last round. We didn't try any food, but the beer and the service were excellent. I'm already looking forward to our next "shopping trip" to Georgetown so I can sample more of their offerings.

Unfortunately they didn't have growlers and weren't able to fill mine. Ended up getting a can of the hefeweizen, it was very malt forward and just not my favorite. The pizzas seem pretty solid, they make them fresh so they come out fresh and hot. The beesting was pretty good, I was expecting more flavor from the hot honey and I really couldn't taste the basil.

There's something for everyone, whether you're a "let me analyze the hops" person or a "just give me something cold and delicious" person. Everything we tried was solid, and it's clear they know what they're doing. The venue itself is super cool. Family friendly, relaxed, not pretentious, and somehow feels both lively and laid-back at the same time. The kind of place where you can hang out for one drink and accidentally stay for three. Service was great: friendly, fast, and helpful without hovering. Exactly what you want when you're trying to responsibly sample your way through a tap list. Parking is excellent. Stress-free. No parallel parking gymnastics. No circling the block questioning your life choices. Just... parking. Beautiful. They also had a pop-up event featuring local artists, which was awesome. Apparently they host things like that pretty regularly, and I love that they're supporting local small businesses. Nothing pairs better with a craft beer than community spirit. They offer pizza, which we didn't try this time, but it looked and smelled incredible. Great beer, cool atmosphere, excellent service, strong community vibes, and parking that doesn't make you cry. 10/10, will absolutely be back.
